I need some assistance with my home theater setup. Im using the Onkyo TX-NR609 and would like to connect my PC to it. I tried connecting the PC to the avr using a HDMI cable from the graphic card to the PC port and vcr/dvd port on the AVR but the avr does not detect any signal from either ports. However if I connect the hdmi directly to my tv, it works. My pc uses a nvidia gtx250 graphic card. Does the avr only work with a vga cable? Can anyone here help me?

QUOTE(chokia @ Feb 5 2014, 04:12 PM) I believe windows 7 also got extended display function. You need to use this function. Im using mac to extend display to HDTV. But I'm using a desktop to display onto the TV. The TV will be the one and only main display. So will using the extended display function solve my problem?

im using a windows 7 os. managed to get the avr to display from my pc. However i cant get the resolution to fit my 55 inch tv. 1900x1080 is too big n causes the borders to go missing. 1680x1050 is smaller den the tv and so i have a black border all around my tv. And i cant get the audio to play thru the hdmi cable. For some reason my playback devices does not show HDMI output.

QUOTE(DEz012 @ Feb 6 2014, 10:51 PM) Did you install the NVIDIA HD Audio which include with the NVIDIA driver ? If not, reinstall again. Without the program you wont get any sound from HDMI. As for the missing borders set your windows to 1080p 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and please change your Amp Monitor output and manual select 1080p. This is the setting i'm using not sure will works on your tv. The icon and words will be too small to read, u need to adjust the magnifier tool from 100% to 125% or more depends on you, this is normal for larger Tv display with 1080p reso. Your advice worked and i got my tv to display at 1080p properly. However i was still unable to get audio thru the HDMI cable. After some research i found out its because my motherboard does not have a spdif port which is needed as there there is an additional wire that connects between the graphic card and motherboard. I have no choice but to only use the audio out which is 3.5mm stereo. No surround sound for me... Its an old spare pc therefore i am not going to spend any money on it. Thanks for the help guys!

QUOTE(fun_feng @ Feb 10 2014, 01:28 PM) I don't think SPDIF is your problem. Your nvidia card should output sound without needing any spdif/optical. Have you set the NVDIA audio as your default driver? Else it could be some setting in your amp. You can set it to pass-through or by-pass audio to tv or it can output audio on amp The problem is I only have the option of the audio out from the 3.5mm jack in playback devices. There is no hdmi audio output. I have updated the graphic card with the latest drivers from the nvidia website. I did notice there is a port on my graphic card which has nothing connected to it. I'm pretty sure i'm suppose to link that port to my mother board's internal spdif output. but sadly my old 6 year old mother board (intel dq35jo) doesnt have a spdif port..
