Does any modification/add on need to be done for this if it's going to be a brighter light? What is the rough cost if i want to change to HID? (not those glaring ones)
Any recommendation?

Hi, my 2005 Camry headlight burnt out after nearly 8 years. I'm looking to upgrade the lights to something brighter than the stock lights.
Does any modification/add on need to be done for this if it's going to be a brighter light? What is the rough cost if i want to change to HID? (not those glaring ones) Any recommendation? |

QUOTE(k!nex @ Feb 4 2014, 11:33 PM) Got how much budget ??? If you don't want to modify to HID, you can try Phillips Xtreme Vision. Normal halogen bulb but much brighter. No need modifications. Plug and play. I'm not sure how much it will cost for HID but i don't want to spend more than Rm500 if a major conversion is needed. How much is Phillips Xtreme Vision btw for Camry? QUOTE(wordtalks @ Feb 5 2014, 12:36 AM) TS silverwave You got a point since it's not a projector unit and yes, 2005 is a reflector headlamp. If i were to change to the 2.4V headlamps, it would cost quite a lot.AFAIK, 2005 Camry is reflector headlamp. In physics term, it reflects the light rather than focusing the light. If you want to change to HID, it is definitely not safe coz it needs a projector unit. HID is memang glaring, its full form is High Intensity Discharge. By the name of it you should know it have high visible light discharge. Stick to halogen light is good enough for daily use, except you travel alot alot during the night + offroad. Make sure you adjust your headlamp level suitably. Any good bulb recommendations? This post has been edited by silverwave: Feb 5 2014, 09:45 AM |

QUOTE(6UE5T @ Feb 5 2014, 11:34 AM) Just change to better halogen bulbs like Phillips Xtreme Vision or Osram Night Breaker Plus, should be more than enough. Unless you want bright white light HID look which is difficult achieve with normal bulbs as they need to be slightly yellow like std bulb in order to give maximum brightness. You can also opt to change to whiter 4000-4500k bulbs (Phillips Crystal Vision, Osram Cool Blue Intense, PIAA Northern Light) but it would not be able to shine the roads as clear as Xtreme Vision or the like, but it may still be a bit brighter than std bulbs. The whiter ones would look nicer though. Well, i wanted something that is in between of white and yellow. It will look nice with the projector light. In short: --> Better vision is Phillips Xtreme Vision or Osram Night Breaker Plus --> Not bad and looks nice is Phillips Crystal Vision, Osram Cool Blue Intense & PIAA Northern Light What are the prices of the brands that you mentioned? Around Rm200+? |
