In simple words, yes.
Just go ahead and subscribe to Njoi, and let the installer do the rest of the job for you.

You're kidding right? I'm an Njoi user & beIN Sports channels are available to buy since last year. There's even Fox Sports & Eurosports. Sports pack on Njoi are bargain: RM53 per month & add another RM10 for HD channels (for Astro Supersport channels only). huh.gif

Could your NJOI decoder get 1080p with Sport Pack HD?
I could only get 1080i.

https://njoi.astro.com.my/technical-issues/...d-settings.aspx
From their website, seems to be that case? Only 1080i seen as max resolution....or not updated?

Only 720p & 1080i because I'm using LCD TV (max resolution 1080i).

Astro/Njoi HD/PVR boxes outputs only up to 1080i.
TV channel broadcast standards commonly uses 1080i, not 1080p.

Just set it as 1080i and leave it.

Ok, thanks for the replies ... was googling Astro help & FAQ, nothing ... and was reading this article https://www.cnet.com/how-to/1080i-and-1080p...ame-resolution/ but it was written in 2013, I thought standard broadcast might be more than 1080i already. E.g. SkySport UK already offering 4K (2160p) channels, 1080p should be nothing. Read somewhere in Lowyat (this thread?), neighbouring Thailand & Indonesia starting 4K broadcast already too.

Anyway, nevermind ... since confirmed all Astro HD channels still only 1080i, then I don't need to wonder what's wrong with mine. notworthy.gif

Btw, at the decoder Settings -> STB Diagnostics -> Advanced, it listed out 1920x1080p@50Hz, 1920x1080p@60Hz, etc. as Supported TV resolutions (ya, my TV can support 1080p) .... so, maybe the decoders memang can support 1080p already, just that Astro satellite broadcast signal not yet.

It's not "not yet" or "still only 1080i", but 1080i is the international broadcast standards for Full HD TV broadcast, while 1080p is not the international standard for linear TV broadcast. 1080p is commonly used for non-TV broadcast ones, like online streaming, Blu-ray movies, etc.

Even if Astro STB allows HDMI output as 1080p, you won't see any visual and obvious difference compared to 1080i also.
HD channels are in 1080i, not 1080p. Actually, for normal TV viewing, there's no need to bother about that 1080i or 1080p also...

Meanwhile, the international broadcast and content standards for 4K UHD will use only Progressive instead of Interlaced due to technical reasons, that's why it is in 2160p, and there is no such thing as "2160i" for 4K UHD content. That's why you see some countries that started 4K UHD trials, they use 2160p. Same goes to 8K in the future, 4320p.

Anyone has experience using NJOI NOW?

I plan to get the Game of Thrones pass for Season 8 premiere on Monday.

Will it be in high definition? 1080p/720p? 4K maybe? haha

No info on your website or FAQ. Technical chat support useless, cannot connect

Edit: Streaming using web browser

It should be available in HD, provided when you stream it using a high speed Internet connection.
No word about 4K from Astro Go, so no 4K UHD.

Hi Guys,

can anyone TL;DR about NJOI?

how it works actually? The payment only time purchase (RM3xx), the rest would be prepaid purchase?

I've plan to purchase the Indo pek but i saw its only 15days, if want for 30days need to purchase x2? can it be auto-debit?
i've already have an astro, do they use the current astro satellite dish or they will install new dish?

I'm looking to get NJOI for my parents.

However, the condo that they will be moving to here in KL does not have a functioning central Astro dish. The condo does not permit installation of own Astro dish (and my unit also facing South East so may not be in the direction of the satellite as well).

Is it possible to obtain NJOI through IPTV format instead as I have 500Mbps Time that should be able to support.

The Njoi phone/table app option is not a possible solution as my parents are over 70 years old and quite hard to teach to use a tablet to watch and cast to a tv.

Summary: Is anyone able to help install and provide the Njoi service over IPTV via a standard decoder that is plugged into the TV via HDMI.

Thanks,
joshhd

No.
Njoi is only available via satellite.

You should inform your condo management about the centralise dish system is not functioning well, and tell them to do something about it.
Could you tell us what's the problem of your centralise dish system that is not functioning well? No signal at all when connected? Can get only certain channels? Or what?

If Astro IPTV is the only option they recommend to you, but you prefer Njoi, then I guess you're out of luck.

Thanks for the feedback. Will speak to the condo management and see what can be done. Apparently they have repaired the dishes a few times already but as the tallest structure in the area, the dish gets struck by lightning very often and JMB decided not to keep fixing it as not many residents are Astro subscribers as well

Hmm... Didn't your condo management installs some lightning arrester, or surge protector or something?
