QUOTE(kobe8byrant @ Feb 6 2014, 11:27 AM) Hi guys, I am new to Lego. I am going through the catalogue after watching the Lego movie (which by the way is incredible) and I was just wondering if there's an easy way to sort Lego products in varying difficulty or does a newb just look for the highest average age (10-16) and then look for the largest number of pieces? Thanks for helping out. Assuming you're waaaay over stipulated LEGO suggested age range on the box, I suggest you not worry over the # parts or difficulty level. If you like the final model as shown on the box ... just grab it . You might take 1 hour, 2 hour or even half a day to build it.. but im sure it will be completed eventually. The fun is in the building This post has been edited by alanyuppie: Feb 6 2014, 11:37 AM

QUOTE(altaf_hoho @ Feb 6 2014, 03:05 PM) I found that during booking with gsc the house they allocate for Lego Movie is very very small eventhough the movie just released. Are they thinking the movie will be a flop? I found that Lego Movie have not been treat fairly by local cinema. There must be some people did not want Lego Movie to become popular. I wonder why this is happen in Malaysia, the only Asia country that have Legoland. General perception of LEGO = kiddy. LEGO movie = kiddy movie . Locals might treat it same like Winnie the pooh or doraemon movie I think (one off entertainment for their kids, then go home sleep. ) rather than "oh wow this is truly epic!! Now I'm hooked on the toys". I won't be bothered at all about the movie's reception locally or worldwide. As a toyline, LEGO is already up there at the top rung . As a AFOL, I'm satisfied with their offerings so far.

QUOTE(aaz2082 @ Feb 10 2014, 10:15 AM) Watched the Lego Movie yesterday morning. Indeed it was a good movie. A lot of instilled messages subtly portrayed throughout the movie. Love the [snipped] scene...... THis is horrible. why not use spoilers for those who havent seen the movie? I can maybe understand if the spoiler was revealed in "movies & music" subforum (thats why Im avoiding it like a plaque ). Im here casually layaning and expecting LEGO (toys) discussion in "Hobbies" subforum and you dropped the above! This post has been edited by alanyuppie: Feb 10 2014, 09:44 AM

QUOTE(chew_loong @ Feb 12 2014, 02:07 PM) It's LEGO toy. Be creative. I got my modular attack by creator eagle also on top of the pet shop. Super heroes Superman taking over the mayor job from the town house and spiderman just hanging around the Palace cinema. Catwoman go into Grand emporium found no clothes can fit her. Yep. My LEGO city has various "fantasy" minifigs (Chima,Ninjago) terrorizing and battling it out on the 7937 train station , hiding behind nooks and corners. 2 stormtroopers are waiting on the staion platform for donno what reason. One of the Space set 70707 perched on to 4650 Train and taking over the coach, opening up to ambush the insect-like aliens who thought they can catch a train back to their insect-planet. Meanwhile, superman it battling Zodd in one corner ,toppling the tower on top of the rail tracks. All these happened on a small tablespace of nearly 6x2 feet. Wait, more stuff happened on the shelf above it.. but I'm lazy to describe.

QUOTE(chew_loong @ Feb 14 2014, 12:17 AM) Creator Furry Creatures you mean. Rm75 is alright less 5% for parking. Got the Forest Animals too, haven't built it yet. Love the Banana. Me too. This years Creator pricepoint is very generous. 10% off on Parkson on weekend. dont know if applies to new sets like these or not. btw, what are the City set RM pricepoint for $us19.99 and 29.99 equivalent? Im interested in the towtruck & airport firetruck. This post has been edited by alanyuppie: Feb 14 2014, 09:39 AM

QUOTE(alikato94 @ Feb 18 2014, 08:22 AM) actually, how much did you guys spend for a lego set?? i really interested in lego.. but tiny set cost about rm100 already Don't be shocked by the huge hauls made by members here. Don't worry there are still frugal LEGO buyer like me in the cmmunity. If you're on a budget, you can just wait for sale ..at least 10% discount in many popular malls. If any set caught your eye and you wanted it badly, but expensive.. then start saving $$ for it I guess.

QUOTE(toh2020 @ Feb 18 2014, 11:19 AM) by that time what u want already sold out and discontinued. next batch obviously be few hundred ringgit more expensive. but no guarantee can get it cause others will haul it too base on first come first serve. example: i saw family man with 3 kids haul the death star & superstar destroyer at mall BVII. the same at 1U ToyrUs the day i saw the super star destroyer. the next day sold already. this is the notable trending. Back to reality , when one is on a budget, I don't think its sensible to ask him/her to splurge immediately especially on hobby items like these. Of coz in LEGO-centric community/thread, "BUY BUY BUY now " seemed "fine" too. example: I saw ebay listing selling LEGO stuff with reason like " need $$$ for urgent matters" I guess there are difference in mindset between deep pockets like you vs poorfag like me....

QUOTE(toh2020 @ Feb 24 2014, 02:53 PM) i think they produce by stages. i don't think lego developers had the time to develop new things. cause they are busy to finalize the existing designs for the market. however it does stir up interest. for ppl with different interest of different genre in lego products the high spike very notable for lego modular buidling models. moreless town structures the linked up in lego movie haha... I've read once in a book that mentioned that LEGO designed their toylines 3 years in advance. This post has been edited by alanyuppie: Feb 24 2014, 03:10 PM

QUOTE(littleprawn @ Feb 28 2014, 02:48 PM) If not mistaken city tow truck is rm84.90 n airport fire engine is rm129.90 Thanks! Not bad at all! 10% off during sales would be about $77 and $117 . Will make a hit then. However... the Ninjago sets pricing still similar to last year. Only Kai jet and Thunder raider looks tempting to me . I thought of getting the Lion, Wolf and Eagle only. But seeing how versatile these sets are, I plan to buy the gorilla and Croc too! This "MOC" doesnt require parts to be dismantled from main model.. hence My Own Contortion. Just fold the limbs into the right position and its done! Hehehe... its not war and constant battle in the Chima universe. During off day, the wolf turn his ride into a cool hovercar and roam the town picking up vixens and spent a day in the drive-in movie theatre. QUOTE(Ultraman the great @ Mar 24 2014, 03:51 PM) have u checked the prices of the ori instruction and the box. Sure or not? i pay u RM1.5k to BL the entire GG. Deal? The catch with BLinking parts to make a set is the $$$ doesn't justify the effort and time put patience is require to complete the sourcing of parts, and also the time taken to browse the parts and get the best deal from the BL shops all over. I know coz I'm in the middle of BLinking parts to build multiple copies of my MOC to be sold in the future. I build a web app just to help me compare prices (which shop offer which part at he best price etc). tedious. This post has been edited by alanyuppie: Mar 24 2014, 02:58 PM
