Sorry if someone has already said it, but I was at Brickboys in Gardens today, and they have quite a few sets with 20% discount (30% if member). Some of these I really regret buying last year now!

79007 LOTR Battle at the Black Gate
9472 LOTR Attack on Weathertop
79002 Hobbit Attack of the Wargs
A couple of Superman sets (the small one and the one with Lois in the capsule thing)
A couple of Lone Ranger sets (the carriage and the tepee sets)
Lots of Ninjago sets (4-headed dragon set, the sonic vehicle thingy set (with Pythor), the red samurai mech etc)
A big police station
70708 Galaxy Squad Hive Crawler
70006 Chima Cragger's Command Ship

and a few others I can't remember.
*
The discounts are not that exciting. The discounts offered during last December's sales were much higher up to 50% for Lone Ranger and Ninjago sets. You could also get better prices from resellers too. Reason was the local retail prices were so overpriced to begin with.

Nevertheless the LOTR sets may be worth getting before the theme is retired. hmm.gif

there are also so many lego taukeh here. their haul is so massive they even have gudang for their lego(s). they do it on monthly basis than span for many many years. this is why their collection is massive house full of lego everywhere.

too bad for me only haul when awaken by lego show in very very short time is consider very minor. sadly i missed out many good stuffs that already discontinued over the years  doh.gif . for my current haul i make arrangement with sellers on appointed day cash and carry one go.

in short taugei haul to be precise...    blush.gif

Agreed, many if not all of us here can be considered taikun/taukeh lah. After all Lego is not a cheap toy and even though it's made of plastic sometime we buy it like buying gold. smile.gif

No need to regret missing the discontinued sets. I also missed many nice sets. Everyone does. But the great thing about Lego is that they keep coming up with even better sets every year. So if you keep hauling at this rate for many years imagine how massive your collection will be. drool.gif rclxm9.gif

I think they are only starting to edit the site hence putting it as "Out of stock" just to be safe.

Anyway instead of bricking, I went and DIY this yesterday (posting pics since someone said I haven't posted pics in a long time tongue.gif).

Took me around two hours mainly because of the measurements which took some time to calculate. Now that I have the measurement template, I can do it for the rest of the series. The only thing that needs fixing is to move the left and right brick of the second row a little inner. laugh.gif

Awesome DIY! rclxms.gif

...but why the 2x2 bricks some white and some yellow? And what happened to Tacoman's tacos (lil' yellow cheese slopes)? hmm.gif

So many cannot tahan members, even at retail prices? rclxub.gif

Malaysian AFOLs seem to be doing well despite the economy, haze, water shortage and inflasi all around. At this rate LEGO will become #1 toy company very soon... thumbup.gif

Lots of speculation about Maersk ship price... rm700-1200? Price is so high due to huge demand and limited supply. 10241 is newly released set and already on back-order at SOH until May. RRP is USD150 so price should be around price for modulars. If can tahan then can get better price.

No wonder Lego is opening another factory in China. Producing plastic bricks is like printing money. Wish I could buy stocks in the company.

The last time I bought 10155 also lebih kurang rm1k+.. but if i only have budget for 1 set, i'd rather buy 10241.. much much much satisfying compared to 10155.. i have both sets though tongue.gif
Took me about 1-2 hours carefully sticking all those damn stickers! Haha.. love it!
That sarcasm.. =.=

It's not like we can easily find Maersk sets floating around in the market.. hehehe. The money spent is well worth the satisfaction, at least for me. tongue.gif
*
No offence internded... it's often said here about "willing buyer willing seller", so there's no cheap or expensive price. Many AFOLs always ask, "is RMxxx reasonable price to pay for this set?". It really depends from buyer to buyer, at what price point he will pull out his cash or credit card. Some want to know they are getting a good deal, some cannot tahan and willing to pay a premium to get it now... whistling.gif

Glad you're happy with your ships. What matters is how one feels about one's purchase. Not what others think. thumbup.gif

For Modulars or UCS sets, chasing the few previous current sets; after a while its not worth it to chase the old.  The prices are over-aggregated and most of the time over inflated.  Besides being a good "Show and Tell" piece for elite few, for most of us is very hard to justify the cost to acquire it.

Anyway, with the re-released versions or new sets is always much improved with more details.  Might as well shoot for those current new sets.  Just have to be patient, scout around and see what comes along.
*
I could not agree more. nod.gif Retired sets are gone, and chasing them will cost AFOLs a bomb... but they will always be some willing buyers who are completist and willing to pay those inflated prices. It comes down to simple economics of demand and supply.

When it comes to Lego re-releasing retired sets, I don't think they have ever done so or ever will (but I stand to be corrected). From a business point of view, they can sell more sets if they release a new and improved version/design, like what happened with some of the Star Wars vehicles and spaceships (X-Wing, Falcon and now Sandcrawler). If they re-released the exact same 7191 UCS X-wing or 10144 Sandcrawler, the thousands who already have them won't be buying the same set again. Yes, there will be many new AFOLs who missed the original release and will want these sets, but at the same time a new design will be more sellable to both old and new AFOLs.

As for non-licensed exclusives like modulars, trains, ships, etc... the same logic applies, Lego is unlikely to release an old design that has already sold thousands. In fact, the possibilities are endless here as they are not bound by an actual movie or product, and there is so much more new creations they can release and sell compared to a re-issued Green Grocer, Emerald Night, Imperial Flagship or Taj Mahal. But we AFOLs who missed out on some of these retiured iconic sets and are not willing to splash the cash for them in the inflated resale market, can still wish... maybe Lego will prove me wrong and make my dreams come true someday. rclxm9.gif

So far I have only seen one set being released... its the original pirate ship... which they aptly named it Legend sets... when I got the time around 1993... its RM250 from Toys R Us... but the re-released set is RM1000 in BBT Gardens...

do you mean this set? i saw in btt selling rm1000 before but after few weeks is gone not sure is sold out or remove, this is not a reissue set anyway, just retired MISB set resell that's why the price is high
*
I too wonder which pirate ship was re-released - got set number? Was it in a different packaging to justify the Legends branding and higher price? I searched brickset but could not find anything related to Legends other than Legends of Chima. smile.gif

6268 is a small set, only 178 pieces and USD40 when it was released. At RM1K the 'inflasi' is amazing! rclxub.gif

I wonder why the inside view of the box shows a ship with black & white sails instead of red & white? hmm.gif

If you ask me, I prefer 6243 Blackbeard's Bounty which looks more realistic. I guess designer for 6243 had more variety of parts to use, compared to 6285 which was released 20 years earlier. thumbup.gif
