After 4 hours of applying water decal last night, I feel like there's a difference in quality between them. The one supplied with my macross kit (especially vf27) were really hard to applied nicely, but the one for nu, is relatively easy.

BTW, anyone knows where to get water slide decal for RG SF? and how much?

RG Strike Freedom. How much is the expected price? If reasonable, might get more. nod.gif

I'm planning to use gundam system base, since sazabi already looks badass just standing, no need action pose.

waterslides degrade over time
probably your macross kit is old batch, while Nu only released for a year

just buy waterslides online, either from local or japan also can, since postage very cheap for 'paper'  laugh.gif

Yeah, maybe thats the case. The decal kind of 'dissolved' when being soaked in water.... doh.gif

Yeah, I already read and have all those setter and softer, but it doesn't help when the decal itself dissolved after soaking it in water.

this made me facepalm and wonder why i never thought of this.. i always clip the decals at the corners using the crocodile clips and simply cut them out using scissors.. can become very tedious when it flops about doh.gif

I've done mine by numbers, so I just cut them out bit by bit from no 1, until only the Bandai logo left.. tongue.gif

After completing this kit, I realized why people suggest this as one of a must have kit.

everybody have their own creative methods laugh.gif
as long can tampal, should be ok ...
but im sure, all those methods .. still will be stressful to tampal, especially those little tiny2 pieces ... haha
*
Haha, right. It's really stressful process, takes much longer time (for me) than building. I also found out turning off fan and using air conditioner makes it easier, because no wind to blow the decal causing it to flip/fold, and cool breeze can also reduce stress level. Also, doing it while watching tv helps you to do it slowly, no rush.

Cannot say like that ler, I use very basic AB set only...
Just don't want to spend too much on spray cans, long term wise really expensive me thinks  sweat.gif
*
QUOTE(Vorador @ Feb 5 2014, 11:28 AM)
yope, sometimes the spray can ended up more costly than the kit itself  doh.gif
*
But getting an AB will encourage more kit to be bought and built...and the vicious cycle will keep continuing... sweat.gif laugh.gif

BTW, I just realized that Sazabi ver Ka has different shade of red, and I already bought sazabi red spray can. Should I spray every red part with it or just one of the 'shade'? Don't want to buy any more red spray...

u can standardize the colour... customization is what makes it personal taste smile.gif

But different shade can give feeling of 'depth'...and I plan to use gloss top coat instead of flat. Don't know why but I like metallic red. nod.gif

u like to bling bling it further? tongue.gif

Not decided yet, flat looks good also but too many people already done that hmm.gif . But if the metallic fails... doh.gif

Need to decide before next week when the project begins. Up to now, most probably I will go along with the crowd... laugh.gif

u forgot magnifying glass.
very rarely u c ppl actually do it. Too much of a PITA and the final results no matter how good is drown out by the actual kit itself if u place it side by side due to size differences, meaning most of ur effort gone to waste since its so small that no1 would actually take notice unless u point it out or take really close up shots. Too much of a bother imho.

Yeah, and paint cost also not cheap, but use only a little bit. nod.gif

I've used sharpie for minor painting before, and it stick well. Just that for large area, not as even as gundam marker because of the tip shape.

Water decal are quite easy, but requires a lot of patience. Using setter and softener also helps. If not mistaken, Top coat is a must to protect the decal.
