How is the PvP system in the game? Last read review was pretty bad as players just need to spam 1-2 keys on a same location repetitively.

Any PvPers care to share their experience?

sadly there too many PvE stuff to do that i dont even have the time to invest into PvP... .

You sleep their healer, they sleep your healer.
Your drg and tank chase their blm, their drg and tank chase your blm.
Your blm runs from their drg and tank, their blm run from yours.

PvP in WoW:
2v2; 3v3; 4v4; 5v5.

PvE Gear is useless in PvP (vice versa)
PvP Gear is with Resilient.

its not just pressing 1-2 button.
you need to know multiple combo/styles if against your opponent.
who you partner with also an added advantages.
who you gotta down first, CC and etc.
its all about teamwork.

Shadowbane:
the whole game is PvP.
you can PK anyone anytime.
no restriction.

but i love this old game because its GvG (guild vs guild).
you create your own guild (which you own your own castle)
then u bane (declare war) on the others.
there is also a union. which you create allies with the banner's shield on top of your players name.

did a 300 vs 300 GvG war before. its MASSIVE fun wink.gif




dont need to talk about RO/RO2 or any noobs game la.
theyre PvP just 2-3 button press. pew pew only.

I'm lost bro, was asking how's the PvP system in FF14 only.

As an ex-wow player I'm very concern on the PvP system before hopping into a new game, hence started this thread to gain insights from current FF14 players.

PVP has never been focus of the FF MMO's. In FFXIV no exception, the PVP feels like an added-on afterthought 5% of the game just to tick a checkbox saying oh cool we have PvP. No world PvP, no battlegrounds, etc, just open arena 4v4.

In most cases, PVP in mmo doesn't make sense. In WoW, in AION, The pvp is ingrained into the story. The rest of the MMO however is... Well, they're like single-player games, that you can invite your friends for 4/5-man-coop in dungeons. You're the chosen one, you're the one true hero, bla bla bla. And you see 10 000 concurrent chosen ones running around, and the PVP is just something they added.

That's probably why I played AION for the longest time, PVP WAS the story.

actually PvP in FFXIV does have lore if you meant ingrained into the Story.

Sooner also there will have battleground type ala GW2 i think called Frontline but not sure which patch is in for.. maybe 2.3 or 2.4

That's why it doesn't make sense. In WoW, it's Alliance VS Horde. In Aion, Elyos VS Asmodian. You start the game and pretty much have "Kill those other side" stamped on your mission log. Not sure about WoW, but in Aion back then, you get points for pvp and pve and redeem awesome gears. Great for pvp, and for pve.

Now compare it to most mmo pvp nowadays. We're all on the same sides, the GCs are pretty much on the same sides as well, faced with the ever-awakening primals and mysterious enemies that seek to do who-knows-what. Aaaaaand they just go "Let's kill each other for sport =D" Sure, maybe there's some intricate story about how Raubahn hit on Kan-e-senna and Merlwyb got jealous and start a private war and solicited adventurers to mess up Kan-e's forces as revenge for flirting with Raubahn. But come on. The imperials, the primals, the beastmen, the Ascians, they're kinda.. I don't know... demand more attention? And then the rewards. Only useful in pvp. When games segregate pvp and pve that much, makes it feel like either pve or pvp side is just a side attraction, they're not related. I know it's not fair for pve players to commit to pvp to obtain something and vice versa, but there are better ways to achieve harmony instead of just turning one thing into a side attraction. I went for ages in Aion without touching PVP, and I'm never gimped against rank 1 soldier.

The only way I can see how the Frontlines patch are going to fix this is if it's totally up to the adventurers, as they are free agents. Battle for territory is a good motivation and not really messing up the story of how the grand companies finally managed to play nice and work together.

it fits the Arena part.. as a Skrimish between adventurers. and those who pledges to a Grand Companies. They already says that the Arena in LImsa is a coordinate skrimish to pit againts each other throat to have more experiences in battles etc for future War with the Empire. what else could there be? Also please be reminded that 5 years ago all three city state isnt on a good term together either, and even after the War with 7th Legatus, and the recovery of the Calamity also doesn't and haven't recovered a fully trusted treaty ever at all. Because each city state have to take care of them self after the Calamity that they just kind of sometime stop supporting each other and have to take care of own stuff by them self.



As for FRONTLINE and why will the GC will fight each other, here is a theory;


in Frontline, FC will be able to summon primals to do their Bidding.
This is conjucture that the Ascian was successful in bring the Primal roaming Eorzea freely without summoning ritual by the beastmen tribes. (Maybe over summon'ed that why they were to be roaming primals)

New territory left by the Allagans
Because of thise new found area, Grand Company it self is a type of a Goverment body, not ruled by single person, is like a country with many high ranking subordinate. Like how Malaysia PM, and his konco koncos.
politics and stuff that may have severe the pact they've made.

Empire threat
As we all know the Garlean as of now are just on stand by because they have lost TWO legatus in Eorzea, one is Legatus 7th, and now Legatus 13th, a HUGE DRAWBACK. So is very likely they will not do anything as of yet.
Also knowing that the Garlean Emperor is dead or almost dead. Thus halting advances on Eorzea all together with the dead of Gauis of the 13th Legatus.

So far i still find arena PvP in WoW is still the most enjoyable of any mmo.
