QUOTE(alpha001 @ Nov 4 2012, 12:16 PM) Do you mean to do "bokeh"? To blur your background and foreground and only left your subject sharp.Poor people's way. Get a Zoom lens, for example a Tamron 70-300mm and shot at aperture f5.6 and enjoy the bokehness. Rich man play. Buy a 70-200mm f2.8 fixed aperture and shoot at f2.8. Or with kit lens. Can try longest focal length and widest aperture f stop (Smallest Aperture f number). Cheers and happy "bokeing"........ |

QUOTE(flamephotography @ Jan 15 2013, 01:08 PM) DOF is a formula to do "Bokeh". yea i agree with u for this....The definition for depth of field (DOF) is the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that appear acceptably sharp in an image. Cheers..... i saying that because i m refering the question he ask to pratice dof... not sure he meant dof or bokeh....... |

QUOTE(flamephotography @ Jan 15 2013, 01:08 PM) DOF is a formula to do "Bokeh". DOF is not a formula to bokeh.DOF is the area in focus. Simple as that. Bokeh is the area that are out of focus. In photography, the priority is always DOF - that's where you get the subject to be covered enough to maintain the details, the bokeh is just the result of everything else. QUOTE(flamephotography @ Jan 15 2013, 01:08 PM) The definition for depth of field (DOF) is the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that appear acceptably sharp in an image. this definition is correct though. Basically the area that is in focus. |

hi sifus, noobie here. Just wanna ask, im using nikon d3200, 18-105mm kit, can i choose S mode (shutter speed mode) when i'm in a restaurant (room based), which is those amber lighting/yellow light. without using flash.
as i tried without flash, i can tune my own shutter speed, but shoot out is just a dark image. if open flash, shutter speed will limit and slow like 1/20 or 1/30. any sifu understand what i trying to explain ? how can i use shutter mode in those above mentioned room. |

Just wanna ask, im using nikon d3200, 18-105mm kit, can i choose S mode (shutter speed mode) when i'm in a restaurant (room based), which is those amber lighting/yellow light. without using flash. any reason you particularly want to use S mode?as i tried without flash, i can tune my own shutter speed, but shoot out is just a dark image. if open flash, shutter speed will limit and slow like 1/20 or 1/30. any sifu understand what i trying to explain ? how can i use shutter mode in those above mentioned room. u have to remember shutter speed is just one out of 3 that controls exposure...the other two are aperture and ISO. in a dark area, you would want to get as much light in as possible. try this, use A mode. set aperture to the maximum (f/3.5 for ur lens, need to use 18mm focal length), and set your ISO to maybe 1600. set a shutter speed of about 1/25s. shoot first, and if still too dark, use a slower shutter speed. you might reach a point where u need a certain slow shutter speed (maybe 1 s?) but you cant handhold you camera well enough. if u run into this issue, either learn to steady yourself, get a small tripod, or get a lens with a larger max aperture or just use flash hehe |

QUOTE(jd4eva @ Jan 16 2013, 10:03 AM) hi all For that kind of light i think you have to take the picture during the golden hour period (one hour after sunrise and one hour before sunset). If not you have to change the temperature in lightroom to make it warmer (golden).Hope this helps http://www.jennysunphotography.com/index2.php#/rgallery1/3/ can anyone teach me how to take this kind of photo, like sunlight at the back, the photo looks like over expose abit...use ps? or how? what is the set up of camera and what situation |
