it is 240-360 for some, 480 at best.

ok for small screens, mobile phones n tablets.

not that watchable for >40" tv's.

guess they want to restrict to mobile devices, won't improve to 576 or 720.

Managed to get Astro Go and Unifi PlayTV run on my box today
Surprised that Unifi PlayTV's channels have higher resolution than some of Astro Go's, e.g. BBC News
But sports and AOD channels on Astro Go are of high resolution (seems to be 720p at least, unless my eyes are playing tricks on me)

They are all sd.

If hd, they wud hv advertised or impose a charge!

The stablest streams do come out alright, incl iflix n netflix sd.

But sd nevertheless.

Try some other hd sports streams, look at displayed words, scores.... thats the giveaway.

Maybe I didn’t look at it correctly, will check again tomorrow
Interesting article I found, Sports supposed to be in HD according to Astro

What box are u using? Looking for one that can run Astro go

Try Minix U9-H or U1, I read that it has great apps compatibility, maybe the users can confirm that Astro Go can run on those boxes? You may not want to get mine, need extra work to get it run. I am using Himedia Q5 Pro but I installed custom firmware on it. Astro and Unifi PlayTV wouldn't run on official firmware

Tested again this morning with Astro Supersports, AOD, AXN HD, all in HD. Compared AOD's Infernal Affairs vs RSS Players', the quality is more or less the same
There are also channels that obviously are in SD, e.g. TVB Entertainment News, BBC (but Unifi PlayTV is offering this at HD)
Not disputing your observations, just sharing smile.gif

AOD, i never used... so, don't know...

ya, check again.
perhaps they have their own definition of "hd"... 480/576 enhanced?!
there are other apps that give same channels, can try them, compare side by side.
can get 1080x720 or even 1920x1072 for some of them.
which begats the question why they can't/won't do better.
only reason has to be to keep the decoder monopoly biz intact! tongue.gif
anyway, if anyone finds it good enough, it is good enough.

r u using the unofficial customized firmware or the androidtv firmware for your q5pro?

Yes, from Futeko (not the Android TV version). Like it much better than official FW. Can get more apps to run and supports live wallpaper with nicer UI smile.gif

ok, good to know.

any disbenefit u know of... kodi, imprex2, autoframe switch, full bluray menu...?

I have not gotten the chance to try the internal player, I accidentally left my external HDD at my relative's place, will only get back this weekend. I will be able to test by then.
Custom FW ships with Kodi v17.6, with custom skin. From what I read, bluray menu is embedded as well, no need to install the patch separately
Using it for few hours, below are the pros that I can observe:
1. Can run Astro Go and Unifi PlayTV
2. Custom wallpaper supported (live and static)
3. Nicer UI (subjective)
4. Kodi comes with certain add-ons installed (e.g. YouTube, Weather, custom skin, may be good for certain users, I personally have uninstalled them all laugh.gif )
5. Can uninstall Facebook and Skype
6. Other apps pre-installed, e.g. Power Menu, ES File Explorer, One Touch Access

Can't think of any cons right now, unless I want to be picky and say that the task killer (QuickClean) kills off my live wallpaper every time I run it. Can say that the custom firmware is a good upgrade over the official one smile.gif
