hello.
i have question,
can g6pd baby withstand mosquito repellent, the heating mat type

http://image.made-in-china.com/2f0j00qClQN...pellent-Mat.jpg

baby is around 7 days.

googled few keywords, but couldn't get any answer.
always ended up, putting coconut oil on baby skin as repellent.

im not worry about the baby from mosquito as the baby sleeps in a net.

but, the thing is, i cant sleep as i cant use the repellent. doh.gif (i hope i dont sound selfish here)

thank you very much.

shouldn't cause hemolysis in the baby.

but then, i don't like the idea of exposing yourself and the baby to mosquito repellent.

should go net the windows instead.

Ah i see i perfectly understand your situation...

There are those patches that are safe for babies (avoid deet and moth balls) which uses Citronella or Neem oil based....

Quite expensive though.....

I saw them selling the photocatalyst mosquito trap which trap the mosquitoes using fan suction. Well i think they are better than using mosquito repellant which emits odor

I supposed mosquito patch are more suitable for outdoor activities

My baby is g6pd deficient. If you're willing to use on normal baby, then no problem to use on g6pd deficient baby also. It's not on the list of forbidden g6pd items. My baby is nearly 3yo already, and we use normal mosquito repellant often, with no issues. More important to prevent malaria, because g6pd babies CANNOT be given most malaria medicine.

But throw away all moth balls. If you or your in-laws ever use moth balls, throw away all moth balls immediately, and make sure EVERYTHING that touches baby wash in hot water before use on baby to clear any moth ball residue.

Some parents prefer more natural products for their babies, even if not g6pd, so citronella products are a good alternative.

Hi,

I've read this thread and couldn't help but answer. I apologize in advance. smile.gif

My husband is g6pd deficient and we are very careful with the things he use esp like things that contain nuts, etc. I can recommend Human Nature's G6PD friendly soybean free repellent oil. It is best to use by people who are G6PD deficient and 100% natural. check this site for details, www.mynaturestreat.com for details.
