QUOTE(Quick` @ Jan 28 2014, 12:26 PM)
Puma CEO quite handsome,

anyways,
Mario Mandzukic anyone?
worth a shout with Lewandowski imminent arrival at the Allianz Arena
*
Arsenal do business with handsome people. But the CEO actually isn't good looking.

Mandzukic might be too similar to Giroud, and not as handsome.
We need a different type of striker to complement Giroud, not to replace him.

Bac reportedly agreed to new contract extension...phew
Currently we have the best defensive record (back 4 + Woj) and I certainly don't want to break that defense unit..
besides I don't think Jenks is ready yet..

unofficial, but 80K/week for a player like Bak is worth it especially you have less worthy players earning more elsewhere.

Away kit? Looks like training top to me but if it's really our new away kit then it's a miss for Puma considering how subtly classy the home kit is.

QUOTE(Jekferos @ Jan 29 2014, 06:07 AM)
to make things even worse

"Some bad news for Arsenal. Told Ramsey has been ruled out for 4-6 weeks with a tendon problem."

got that from twitter though, not confirm yet
*
yeah... rambo's out after picking up the injury in training.

QUOTE(Mikken @ Jan 29 2014, 06:10 AM)
Shait. If it is true....pls buy drax NOW.
*
and how is a winger/forward who is also injured going to replace an injured Ramsey?

Jesus, people are treating a draw like the apocalypse.
Not an ideal result, but who said Southampton was going to be a walkover?
Get a grip.

If Bayern's going to let him go then he's a pretty good option to have in the team. Muller is probably the better player but he's not available.

Draxler... Vucinic... blah. ain't happening till the dot com says so. And as usual it's going to go all the way till the 11th hour.

QUOTE(ahaksz28 @ Jan 31 2014, 01:57 AM)
No one except Poldi himself and Arsene knows why he isn't starting.

But so far what we know from both Poldi and Arsene is that
1) Poldi's not fully fit after playing through the entire last season with injuries + just returning from a major one
2) Due to 1) he probably can't sustain a high level of concentration and performance for a full 90 minutes, hence it's better to use him as an impact substitute rather than subbing him off at 60-70 min mark.
3) Santi is in better form - players who are in better form should start.

I don't buy the played out of position crap. He's playing on the left, where he played for Germany. He's been extremely efficient in that position so no arguments about this. And I don't think we can call him lazy like many other blogs do. We don't see him on the training ground so how do we know he's not putting in 100% in training? Can't call him lazy based on watching him on TV either - most attacking players "look" lazy compared to midfielders as they need to concentrate on bursting into the final 1/3 and finishing off moves.

I'm not worried about him becoming another Arshavin. Andrei messed up his Arsenal career (and probably international too) but being complacent and going out of shape. Gervinho never suited our system anyway - he's doing decently with Roma this season but he's not any better than Giroud for us hence I don't miss him at all. Poldi can be our impact sub until he proves he is better than Santi on the left then he'll start. He's also a good option if Ozil can't play - then Santi can move to the centre like last season with Poldi on the left.

QUOTE(Thumpy Ick @ Jan 31 2014, 07:28 AM)
draxler and vucinic deal is likely off, seems like the board agreed on 37mil for draxler but wenger refused the deal, while vucinic refused the move to arsenal with the two clubs already agreed on terms.

makes sense tho, 37mil for a youngster is too big of a price tag, he'll be scrutinized by the hype machine english media.
*
sourceless rumours... meehhhhh...

But assuming that they are true, why would Vucinic, a player who couldn't start for Juve come to Arsenal where he's unlikely to start ahead of Giroud either?

Draxler, whether he comes or not, is not going to win us the league. He's injured and without proper integration into the team he's not going to be a vital player for the remaining half of the season. If we manage to buy him it'll be more for next season.

Welcome Hail Storm !!

Looks like the blue-eyed Viking is the only new arrival in January.
6 month loan... fairly low risk signing as backup while waiting for Ramsey to recover and buying time for Flamini to return from suspension.

Can't shake the feeling that it's a reactionary move rather than an actual planned deal.
Not that there were many big names available anyway, apart from Mata.

QUOTE(ivanau88 @ Feb 1 2014, 10:52 AM)
why did wenger sold frimpong in the first place? lack of first team football or bad disciplinary record? sad to see him leaves...
*
Stunted development due to severe injuries... mediocre displays whenever given the chance... at a stage where Frimmy needs to play regularly but not good enough to feature in our first team... and who knows how well/unwell he is performing in training.

Letting him go doesn't mean he's a terrible player, just means he's not good enough for Arsenal.

By the way,
I'm loving the way how everyone, including the media and so-called pundits are writing us off already just because we didn't sign Messi/Ronaldo/Zidane/Pele/God. More so when people are saying Chelsea is going to win it. The last time I checked they are 2 points BEHIND us with a so-called superior team. City, with their multibillion team, is ONLY 1 point ahead of us and it took them 20 over games to catch up.

QUOTE(Zeus88 @ Feb 1 2014, 06:58 PM)
Why go for a loan on a player who's is "experienced" but no experience in the EPL at all? They could have just recalled back Coquelin. He's a good little player or maybe even give Eisfield a chance. AW just don't have trust in them, sadly.
*
Eisfield can't even make it to our bench, unlike Gnabry who's starting games now, or even a 17 year old Zelalem.
Coq? I'll take an player with lots of international experience AND formerly an integral part of a dominating Lyon team before Ligue I was filled up with Arab oil cash and Russian potash money.

QUOTE(VisionX @ Feb 1 2014, 07:20 PM)
If we had the likes of Mandzukic, that would be so much different and so much fun to watch.
*
Did Bayern say they wanted to sell? In the summer maybe, when Lewandowski arrives, but right now they don't have that many #9 centre forwards right now.

There aren't many top tier strikers available unless we pay ridiculous amounts of money. And we're not even talking about 15-20M here.

Fluent in English and sounds like he's quite ready to rumble.

Face looks like a hybrid of Zlatan and Lampard.

A stylish haircut will surely make him enter the handsome Arsenal players hall of fame.

Has a sweet left foot for freekicks too.

Is he going to take #18? or #2? Those are our available first team numbers so far.

The new contract that Suarez signed with Liverpool is there to 1)beef up Suarez's pockets 2)beef up Liverpool's if he does leave 3)move Suarez abroad if he does leave.

still nowhere near Giroud's level of handsomeness.

only Bobby Pires can match his dreaminess, but again not as beautiful.

nuts.

Gervinho is possibly the most frustrating player to watch.
Good to know that he's doing OK in Roma, but no way is he better than Giroud. In fact, his numbers in Serie A is even worse than Giroud's in the EPL.

This is like 2 summers ago !!

He'll need to be content with the bench since Szcz is our long term number 1.
It'll be good to have an experienced keeper like Cesar to keep Szcz on his toes.
