Don't know what the fuss about Kallstrom is. He's a signing made specifically because of our need for a midfielder. Just look us fighting Sotong.. Damn poor due to midfield.
A decent loan to cover for an emergency situation we didn't foresee. His signing has NOTHING to do with Wenger not signing a forward.
And who do you expect to join that would be an upgrade to Bendtner and would be happy to sit on the bench for 6 months and leave in the summer?
Who could we sign in January that would be better than Giroud so that we wouldn't have to re-invest in Summer? We tried Vucinic (rejected move), Morata, Cisse, Klose, Kalou (clubs rejected).
For those who would say Draxler, you're wrong. Not because he can't play up front, but because Schalke surely wanted more than £37million for him.
Think about it, his release clause only becomes effective in Summer. So why would Schalke sell him for anything less than that when they can just wait a while and sell him for that amount then?
Surely, they'd want MORE money to sell him before they're ready and before the contract clause would force them to.
We'll see Arsenal make a splash in the summer window, just like Chelsea.
They signed no one and their fans made not a peep when their striking corps is absolute trash. (Torres, Eto'o and Ba are laughably bad compared to how well they should be playing)
So understand that this window wasn't about Wenger being stingy. He proved with Özil that he's willing to splash the cash. I think it's genuinely best that Arsenal buy THE striker in summer. A big name (maybe even Draxler and convert him to CF) and one that can upgrade or play with Giroud. Not some stopgag that wouldn't even help our title push. No one that is good enough would want a 6 month move.
