What's your guy's room temperature and the temp of the GPU?

My room is hot, casing don't have good enough ventilation (micro ATX type), I had to put the fan at 100% to keep my card from overheating...

When my room temp is 25C (on aircon) my GPU temp is around 82C like that
When my room temp is 37C (no aircon, daytime), GPU temp reaches like 90C

both 100% fan

My, that is really hot. sweat.gif I have no air-con in my PC room, so it should be anywhere around 30C. Getting around 79 - 81C on auto fan speed (can hit ~53% max).

What are your other specs? Seem like your casing have a very poor air flow.
*
I'm using Silverstone PS-08 casing, the air seem to trap at the bottom of casing. I can't use ATX casing, no place to put in my room... That's why I opt for this chibi sized casing.

I see, that is a very small casing. It simply does not have enough exhaust (or large enough) to expel out all the hot air coming out from the 290 Tri-X. No surprise then why it can hit such high temperatures. At 100%, the sound must have been...intolerable? hmm.gif Actually I believe the reference card would have done you better, since it expels the heat out directly from your casing.
*
At 100% it is indeed loud, but it's not as loud as my portable aircond inside my room laugh.gif

I'm trying to add fans now, then maybe Mcgyver some exhaust on the side vent to see how it goes.

I tried running without putting the side panel and it does lower the temp, but scared some cockroaches or rats (if unlucky) go and screw the system.

I didn't pick the ref card because at daytime my room temp is crazy hot (I didn't run the aircon because I was at work) cry.gif

Or change to other m-ATX casings with better airflow. Obsidian 350D? brows.gif
*
Btw the Obsidian is too high, my silverstone is 355mm tall and just had 1cm clearance under my table. The Obsidian is 440mm tall cry.gif

Here is my result after watercooled my 290 & run a simple overclock

CPU: All stock
GPU: Core - 1150mhz VRAM- 1250mhz
*
You should increase your power limit, your gpu clock goes down alot on the graph. By the way you didn't overclock your memory?
Your GPU temperature is godlike drool.gif

I just run a simply test, because previously with stock fan cooler eventhough i increase the power limit with core clock at 1150mhz artifacts everywhere
*
that is weird. On my 290, the powertune is important so my card can stay at 1000Mhz all the time, if powertune = 0%, my card maintains like 980Mhz only. To put it at 1000Mhz constant I need to put like 5% powertune. To put the card at 1030Mhz I need 10% powertune etc

wait.. maybe GTX 770...  hmm.gif  SOME Uber Genius Says' its 2-3%! faster then R9 290X ! ! LOL!

I still can increase the 50mV and add more hertz but my chassis can't cool my card enough. With this clock the core is at 92/93C cry.gif

errr I'll stick to air cool atm.

Maybe I'll go for watercool in my next build, maybe one or two years from now laugh.gif

hmm.gif  wow i can't manage to get stable benchmark if my MEM higher then 1,400mhz...  but i can reach stable 1,225mhz For CORE... but my OffsetVolt is 200 max...   and cautious with temp.. is not worth to break gpu for Heave... N
*
Just testing only haha, AMD did state that 290/290X can run fine at 95C. The only thing is my other components can withstand the heat inside the case or not....
But I don't worry that much, all still new stuffs with warranty brows.gif

I need to find some higher airflow fans. Those silent fan in my casing is useless when my Tri-X fan is screaming laugh.gif

I think Heaven benchmark doesn't care about CPU speed that much...

Btw, I think it's still possible to OC non K CPUs, use old school FSB/Bclock style OC brows.gif

Nowadays it's abit sweat.gif when I read that only unlocked CPUs can OC...

biggrin.gif Thanks bro!
My Rig was like build in 1 n 1/2 years ago, build up with tiny knowledge and limited budget.
Recently influence by my friend about OCing, so I decided to sell my old 660 and upgrade to 780ti, but that only the 1st step, more upgrade in future. brows.gif
Thank for your info smile.gif, so that i wont blame my PSU tat much, although i think i should change it. brows.gif
~~~In the journey of OC whistling.gif ~~~~~~
*
What PSU you are using, a normal 650watt is plenty for single 780 Ti in my opinion
I'm still using lousy 625watt PSU and my 290 can run 1200Mhz OC with 150mV laugh.gif
got 625Watt PSU ?> u oc psu ke ? lol  maybe Seasonic SII 620W
Haha don't expect mine is giod PSU lar, mine is lousy where got good like seasonic one.
It's cooler master extreme 2 625, on paper 625 wattbut actual usage only safe to around 500 watt kua haha.
Previously didn't go for good PSU because I only install HD 7870 only. Also shop didn't carry PSU that I want that time.
so far no problem yet, just electric bill lil bit more rclxub.gif
OC psu pffft.
*
OC PSU literally means running the PSU above rated wattage, correct term would be overload laugh.gif . Many high end PSU can run higher than rated, for example Silverstone Strider Gold Evolution 750 watt can run up to 950 watt before shutdown http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Sil...y-Review/1452/9
