I was reading some comments about the UHD model on notebookreview forum. Some users did not like the IPS display on that model. Some users mentioned it was an improvement over the basic model. However, I am not sure if it is worth the money.

I would say no because you can buy the basic model and change the screen yourself for half the price. But, you won't get the 'touch' feature.

same problem when i first power up mine, with only windows and office.
seem like the culprit is the 1tb hdd with 5400rpm (maybe even slower than 500gb i suspect).
after upgrade to ssd you will feel wonderful that you made a right choice.

agreed totally. trust me many will give up touching screen after suffering from aching hand....
touch is useful when you can hold the screen on your hand... thats not gonna happen when you have a keyboard attached to your screen.

im using the Y50 now, i really dislike the matte screen....
and now only i realized Y50 do not have the mSATA option...

have anyone tried sniper elite 3 with ultra setting on gtx860m yet?
need a review on the fps, temp & etc.

y50 do comes with very limited upgrade option.. guess you didn't do your research well

nope...is external optical drive....when i bought they got give a....

so is it like those external dvd drive which using usb ?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's an USB type, from the picture below, as you can see that the external ODD is provided and you can see the head of the USB.
