QUOTE(ihavenoidea @ Aug 9 2014, 11:28 PM) checked from lenovo usa. absolute enlargement from y50, base specs are similar.http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenov...ries/y70-touch/ well, notice that the battery capacity is the same. thats mean battery life going to be shorter than y50 since the screen is 2-inch bigger. |

QUOTE(wwhwee @ Aug 11 2014, 07:42 PM) Hello everyone, i have the same queries too. registered online accordingly but the record showing end warranty date of a duration of one year only I have just brought Lenovo Y50 Malaysia set yesterday. I have checked the warranty status at http://support.lenovo.com/my/ms/warrantylookup It's show me only 1 year warranty. It's suppose to be 2 years international warranty, right? since some senior in the forum confirmed that the warranty is two years, just curious whether we done the registration wrongly or any misunderstanding here. |

QUOTE(keeshaunteh @ Aug 11 2014, 06:21 PM) Bro, I'm looking for lenovo y series laptop but now i'm confused with so many models. I was following the Y410p but I think I saw new model came out right? I need some advices. Would like the specs like the Y410p. Thanks if don't mind waiting for a little longer, y40 is coming out.spec almost as good as y50. but the screen... don't know yet. if is not your cup of tea, can get your y410 then. by the time the price of y410 should be down a little or maybe packed with some free options. |

QUOTE(Nescafe3in1c @ Aug 15 2014, 03:21 AM) my y50 booting too slow, around 100++ sec...my spec is i7-4710hq/8g ram/gtx860m 4g ddr5/1tb satahdd/dos... I install a pirated window 7and all driver is work.. anyone got the same issues ?? same problem when i first power up mine, with only windows and office.seem like the culprit is the 1tb hdd with 5400rpm (maybe even slower than 500gb i suspect). after upgrade to ssd you will feel wonderful that you made a right choice. |

QUOTE(GunBlaDeR @ Aug 17 2014, 12:13 AM) I was reading some comments about the UHD model on notebookreview forum. Some users did not like the IPS display on that model. Some users mentioned it was an improvement over the basic model. However, I am not sure if it is worth the money. agreed totally. trust me many will give up touching screen after suffering from aching hand....I would say no because you can buy the basic model and change the screen yourself for half the price. But, you won't get the 'touch' feature. touch is useful when you can hold the screen on your hand... thats not gonna happen when you have a keyboard attached to your screen. |

QUOTE(XeactorZ @ Aug 24 2014, 10:55 PM) sorry quite confusing here its usb type dvd writer rom, bundled in.my friend interested to get this laptop however he ask me does it contain the dvd drive like y510p ? or need to buy separately and swap with the ODD very light. something funny, it can only use the cable that came with it (very thick cable). when i try to use other replacement cheapo cable, the laptop failed to detect the dvd rom. then i switch back to the original cable it works again. |

QUOTE(sheng0729 @ Sep 8 2014, 09:38 AM) now using samsung evo, quite satisfied with the speed.plextor is better in term of reading and writing but of course cost more. upgrade to a ssd if within your budget. currently 256 gb is quite value worthy. above this size is still expensive. |

QUOTE(lui @ Sep 13 2014, 02:09 AM) Got it fixed, you are right the WLAN driver from the web site are fine. Just that i install the Intel one instead of Realtek, that's why it's not working. just to double confirm, nvidia version 340.52 from nvidia website is installing fine in windows 7 without any error. And some sharing about the GPU drivers for those who going to get a DOS version. Follow the steps below if you are installing Windows 7. 1. Windows will give a generic driver for the Intel GPU, you need to get your laptop to connect to the internet and perform an automatic driver update on the Intel GPU. The version 4600 driver will be found and install. 2. Go to Nvidia web site and search for the latest driver for GTX 860M, should be the version 340.xx. Install this driver, then you will not get any compatible error prompt out. Enjoy! ----------------- Can anyone share how can i check how many memory was there for my 860M in Windows 7? I went to Change my display setting -> Advance Settings, but it show the info for the Intel GPU instead of GTX =( And i wondering do i need to configure anything when i play games and do graphics, so that i am using the GTX GPU and not the Intel GPU? Please help and thanks in advance. from lenovo site also 2 drivers are new - bluetooth and wlan for my y50 is using atheros wlan instead of intel. just be careful if you are using some driver updating software. i used advanced driver update and it found more than ten outdated driver. so far what i try: intel chipset - newer driver ok realtek camera - newer driver ok intel usb 3 - newer driver ok motherboard - failed qualcomm wireless lan - newer driver ok realtek card reader - newer driver ok bluetooth - failed synaptic - problem found for synaptic, if you update using latest from synaptic website, you will get new ui in the mouse setting page with additional features. but please take note, your fn+f6 key will no longer working. and the hardware will use ps2 port instead of smb port if you install from lenovo official website. the above are all for windows 7 64bit. hopefully the info is helpful to all fellow y50 owners. |
