Sup all, i'm planning to buy a 2nd hand Honda Civic FD, but still in dilemma which 1 to get, should I get 2.0 or 1.8?

some say 1.8 will drain petrol cause of heavy body so they suggest to take 2.0.

and what about spareparts? does it cost a lot?

and did the car will always cause problem at some parts?

Hye yo! I am a Honda Civic FD1 2.0 User.

Well, i can tell you 1 thing, spareparts are easy to find.
The rest depends on you, on how you drive the car and all.
My car is now at 160000km mileage, but still drives solid.
few month ago changed rear wheel bearing for RM290 per side.
most expensive servicing so far is RM950, when reached 100000km.

A lot of people told me not to sell my car, as it is probably going to be Honda's last DOHC civic. The New civic FB is a SOHC which is probably running on less fuel consumption but slightly less power as well... I am not so sure about this, need to ask an expert.

Your wheelbearing is very cheap then. Honda will charge you RM850 if you replace at service center rite?

MY god, so sorry, i checked it is not perpair, its perside. Lol
Apology my friend.

Not so sure bout that, i asked honda HZN in glenmarie when i went for servicing a few weeks ago, they said a pair of bearing cost you RM350, but the labor is the expensive one compared to other honda specialist.
A lot of fussiness you have to go through just to install the bearing. Then you have to go do your balancing and alignment all over again. (not so sure about alignment on the rear wheel) lol.

Go for the 2.0, last time I bought the 1.8 FD1 and truly regretted it.

Maybe your fren is talking about the "wooong wooong wooong" sound coming from the back of the car . The sound will increase propotionally to the travelling speed of the car. That's the common wheel bearing issue with civic FD/

my friend's car is fully original, no modify at all, also got the sound, he said what... tyre sound and the wind sound also can hear after 100kmh+

and I also got ask my other friend who do car accessories business, he said this sound for civic cannot be solve, means even you stick the extra soundproof at the car, the sound still can hear.. I'm not sure about this just curious hmm.gif (hope you get what I mean)

is there a way to fix it?

i'm sharing some of my past experience with the FD2 two years ownership.

Overall the car is very good, reliable and no issues on my 2 years of ownership (probably its still new).

The main reason i let go the car after 2 years is because of the fuel consumption. A full tank of approx 45 litre only get me for 320km which translates to 7km/litre for a Civic. Yes some may say maybe it is my driving issue but same driving style and same route on my current Golf can get me 11km/litre. The difference is just too huge.

With the fuel price now already at RM2.10 and possible to increase again some time this year, you may have to take the fuel consumption into consideration. Maintenance wise it is fine, you wont get wrong with Honda and Toyota here.

Try to ask EA autoworks and see. Maybe they can do ... depending on the amount of money you can spare.
But stock civic FD sound proof really sux for a RM110+k~ RM130+k car...That's for sure.
But if you want something quiet from factory, camry is more suitable then.

The best decision I ever made was to choose Civic FD 2.0 over 1.8 6 years ago. I was in the same situation like you now. Now still driving it happily. FC is excellent.

fd1 owner here.. 1 full tank gives me 420~450km with average 70% city drive, 30% highway drive..

but honestly la, if u dont drive like fast and furious style, then go for fd1, the power is good enough.. if u drive like fast and furious style, go for fd2 or fd2r..

but still, back to basic, go test drive both 1.8 and 2.0 and see which 1 suits u better.

FC very much depends on your driving style and route.
He is the same person... hence same driving style, same route.
Basically all other factors being equal apart from the car itself.
That pretty much sums up the FC of both car... comparatively.

Some people claim their car have good FC.... but it's actually because they're tame drivers or don't get stuck in traffic too much.
In that case, it's not the car... it's the driver.
