I feel its time to train my guns at the peacock bass habitat I've been planning to do for quite some time now and torn between aquarium versus a pond, but I reckon big fish would be alot happier in an bigger domain...and I've found the perfect location.

However, since i have absolutely no experience with building a pond...

Going to convert a planterbox into a modern, formal pond.

its an estimated 1500 gallon small pond.

1)Does anyone know a roughly, the estimated price for the polythene canvas pond setup complete with external filters?
2)how do you set this thing up, especially the filtration ? Is this how it works roughly?

Pond----> pump----> biofilter bin 1 ---> biofilter bin 2---- biofilter bin 3 ----> Pond?

3) Do you need an overflow drain/pipe ?
4) wut pump size should i use for a 1500 gallon setup?

cant decide on aquarium or a pond? why not both? tongue.gif

3 side use cement to cover those bricks and the front side put a piece of thick glass in front.
so you can see your fish from the outside instead of from the top.

no need use external filter, just make a concrete sump tank at the back, ontop of the sump tank u can put some plants.
it can help to absorb the fish waste  and provide some shelter for your tank.
thats a really brilliant idea! but am aiming for over 450 gallon pond to keep peacock bass cosy. Fancy you mentioned plants, i was planning to have water lilies of all sorts laugh.gif but the external pump is a must since carnivorous peacocks produce alot of waste.
