This is exactly the same response when I come across a new guy venturing on a gaming keyboard or a gaming mechanical keyboard. In their mind, its like 80 percent they believe that ordinary keyboard isn't fit for gaming and another 50 percent of the bunch thinks that gaming keyboard must look 'gaming-ish'...
No doubt some of that impression are being portrayed by Logitech as early as their G15 lines then comes Razer and steelseries and Roccat and the most recent Armageddon. Thanks to companies like that, newcomers usually have a set of opinions which they already have in their head when i comes to buy one. Sales guy at Lowyat plaza shops or other computer shops actually no need to persuade them to buy Razers or Logi or Roccat because of this because they know when a customer comes and ask about this so-called gaming keyboard, its actually a matter of their budget and what 'nice' things the sales guy have to say about the product.
Ok, some history... I worked b4 at LYP and other computer shops for around 7 years on and off....My job is technical although some of the time I have to do sale in front. I can take back home whatever keyboard I want as long as my boss (shop owner) approves and potong my gaji. Before mechanical keyboard, I have had G15, Roccat Arvo, Lycosa, Tarantula and a couple more keyboards which in the end I sold off or dead after warranty....The only keyboard which is still with me is a Tenkeyless, Non-backlight, boring looking pink keyboard from Filco Majestouch 2 series. Gone are all the overrated, gaming brands keyboard. Now my daily driver is a Filco...the boring nothing special Filco.
Ducky can be 'considered' as the Razer of MKB with its special keys (shortcut and media keys) along with its backlighting functions which can be set to a number of presets. What it doesn't have is Razer gimmicky features and poor reliability...When I was still with consumer grade computer sales, razer blackwidow almost 50% sold will come back with numerous issues and problem. Thats not a problem as the warranty for Razer product is quite ok. But what bothers the most are the parents (daddy or mommy) which bought a RM300++ keyboard for their kids and their attitude when send back to claim for warranty....Bla bla bla this keyboard no good lar, expensive but koyak also and the list of dissatisfaction goes on and on...son was like keeping quiet not able to say anything. Daddy was expecting too much; perhaps thinking that the Blackwidow Ultimate was assembled by god himself.
Ok to make story short, format your brain regarding so-called gaming keyboard. and accept the boringness of the mechanical keyboard design. in the end, its not your eyes that does the typing is the fingers...trust me, your eyes will be mostly looking at the screen to see for wrong characters in 10fastfingers.
Good info bro...looking for something like your review here before getting a mechanical keyboard...based on feedback here, almost of you guys recomended ducky or filco product over a razer. Maybe I should do more study on it.so..are you suggesting a ducky product too? Is this ducky product made by our Malaysian company? It not cheap also...
