Hi folks, pls share your thought on fragrant rice this CNY biggrin.gif Which brand, specific range is the best of the best?

Rice from Thailand and India contains the least arsenic among rice varieties. Some rice have been found to contain high levels of arsenic due to the historical use of arsenic based pesticides.

Jasmine rice, sometimes known as Thai fragrant rice, is a long-grain variety of rice that has a nutty aroma and a subtle pandan-like flavor.

White jasmine rice is white, has a jasmine aroma and, when cooked, a slightly sticky texture. The aroma is caused by the evaporation of 2-Acetyl-1-pyrroline. Jasmine rice has omega-3 fatty acids which maintain the brain and prevent Alzheimer's disease[citation needed]. It also has melatonin which helps with sleeping.

Brown jasmine rice has a flavor like oats and contains gamma oryzanol which can decrease cholesterol in blood vessels. Brown jasmine rice has vitamins such as vitamin A, vitamin B and beta-carotene and it contains antioxidants which support the working of nervous system and help fight cancer.

More..

Pls attach pics of the packaging if possible so easier for us to shop for it okie biggrin.gif

When I browsed through website from Malaysia, some people suggested "Birds of Paradise Fragrant Rice" and another rice I forgot what the name is but the packaging is pink color. Tried both and quite disappointed.

I agreed !! Those brand/model like Birds of paradise, jasmine sunwhite, or even long fong cho, the quality is not consistently good, well, these famous model used to be quite decent but not anymore, the price is higher due to heavy advertisement perhaps.

Rambutan and also the Rama-Rama brand still quite okie, but the Rama-Rama rice is not as clean as before, found sand/tiny rock inside in recent batches. sweat.gif
