They can reinforce the pillar I guess.

But usually the fires in residential buildings won't be that intense.

Concrete is also very durable.

now with JB's tens of thousands of units of service apartments coming up, I wonder if our Bomba would be able to handle all these tall buildings. 30 floors and up... 75 floors.

Upgrade please Bomba...before those building complete!

doh.gif do I look like macai supporting either camp and pointing fingers here and there... I was merely indicating the worry that with the increase of so many high rise, without any upgrades coming up... would it be able to function when there is disaster.

Did I blame authority? Read carefully lah. rclxub.gif

Hmm..those high rise condos, the new ones have any fire alarms? Should have fire hoses and high-risers, right?

Fire alarm and fire hose sure got and if checked by bomba of course can function...... But did anyone dare to fight the fire? And the SOP of operating the fire fighting system! Did anyone know how to response once fire detected? I also dunno how, if i break the panic fire button, will the fire hose activated automatically? Or need someone from the condo management to turn the valve on then only can function? I really dunno, because there is no fire drills for highrise residential. In my humble opinion, local authority should at least demonstrate this fire drills with all the condo around with collaboration with bomba for the safety of people and as a general knowledge for escaping a fire place or minor fire fighting procedure..... If things happen then only started actions, life already sacrifice.

Vacant condo unit in Setapak damaged in fire

KUALA LUMPUR: A vacant condominium unit was damaged in a blaze at Taman Setapak Jaya Indah in Setapak today.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department deputy director Azizan Ismail said the distress call was received at 4.52pm, and 33 fire personnel were sent to the scene here at Jalan 3/50C.

"The first to arrive was the fire truck from the Setapak fire station, at 5.04pm followed by three others from Setapak, Wangsa Maju and Hang Tuah.

"The fire was put out at 5.20pm and caused 80 percent damage but no injuries or casualty was recorded," he said.
