QUOTE(hebeeu1980 @ Jan 11 2014, 09:50 AM) Sony and Samsung digital camera, which should I choose? What are your budget? How much you know about photography? What kind of cameras are you looking for? What types of photography are you going to do?I'm wondering which is better? Can anyone advise for me? Thanks for helping. All these matter in deciding a right camera. I suggest you post in the Recommendation Thread so that people can advise appropriately. |

QUOTE(hebeeu1980 @ Jan 11 2014, 09:50 AM) Sony and Samsung digital camera, which should I choose? which category of camera u looking for?I'm wondering which is better? Can anyone advise for me? Thanks for helping. Fixed lens compact camera? Mirrorless camera? or DSLR? just sharing at advance. if u were looking for mirrorless camera, Sony NEX camera's overall performance is better than Samsung's mirrorless camera Entry level: Sony A3000 VS Samsung NX200 (both 20MP with APS-C CMOS sensor) Outdoor - A3000 output colour is richer and closer with reality compare with NX200 which deliver cooler image. NX200 default JPEG sharpening effect is a bit stronger than A3000, however A3000 default JPEG output is very good enough for most situation Indoor/Lowlight - although both camera AF speed is slow in this situation, A3000 AF still precise compare with NX200. both output with ISO 100 is not much difference, however ISO 1600 and above, A3000 image output is still clean and sharp, meanwhile NX200 image output not as good as A3000, which a lot of blotchy noise and detail had ruined Semi-Pro level: Sony NEX-6 VS Samsung NX300 (16MP VS 20MP, both APS-C CMOS sensor) Outdoor - both camera's image output is quite outstanding. NX200 default JPEG sharpening effect is still a little bit stronger then NEX-6, as NEX-6 default JPEG output is very good enough for most situation Indoor/Lowlight - both camera AF performance is still precise even though lowlight situation had cause slower AF speed. both output with ISO 100 is not much difference. ISO 1600 and above, NEX-6 image output is still clean and sharp!!! NX300 image output is clean, lesser blotchy noise, and better than NX200; however, the noise reduction is too strong and may ruin the detail of image overall, Sony NEX camera's overall performance is better than Samsung's mirrorless camera i never test compact camera so i won't compare. i believe their performance more or less is quite close |

If your budget is around 3k, you can try to find Sony A65 or A57 with kit lens. I used A57 before and i'm very satisfied with the price i paid.
Both A57 and A65 are considered entry level DSLR i guess? They are using SLT technology with full-time live-view which make it very convenient to new users. The multi-frame noise reduction system is a very good feature. Price for A57 is quite cheap nowadays, it's around 1.6k? A65 less than 3k for single lens package.. Correct me if there's mistake.. Cheers! |

QUOTE(petelowyat @ Jan 16 2014, 08:58 AM) Well, since you're asking, as a matter of fact, yes on quite many levels in the mirrorless genre. Even on larger APSC and full frame formats (this includes the latest E-mount full frames), there's plenty of catching up from canon's end, though there's still some redeeming qualities that canon still holds superior. You're asking a sales girl who probably has no interest in photography, let alone knows any function which brings out that particular model. Don't get me wrong, all brand has its pros and cons, it's whether the functions offered by any particular model/brand is useful to you or not that matters. |
