the only smallest digital ones are the as-38 which is bout RM500 ...

my budget less than RM300 i guess will only be able to get the analog ones

but i have seen the Octopus digital ones

Just sharing.
I DIY a cheapo dry container using an airtight container with a big pack of desiccant silica and a thirsty hippo dehumidifier.
Being using it to keep my cameras, VHS home video collection etc... so far so good, no mold building up.

The only difference is the humidity reader.
Some may say that the digital version is more accurate.
I beg to differ, the accuracy of the digital version is not much different compared to the analog version.
They're about 5% to about 15% off.

There is also a third type, Digital closed loop type cabinet.
I'm currently using this, basically just key in the desired humidity level and the de-humidifier will automatically run till it reaches that amount.

u got to make sure you have a hygrometer in there as if the humidity level gets too low then it will dry up the plastic or rubber parts and will crack or disintegrate ..

hygrometer should be 45 - 50%

Humidity meters at consumer level is not super accurate as the accuracy will run once temperature go too high or low.. You need to know what sensor it is using and what is its effective calibrated working temperature.. For most of our needs, it will do the job. Bottom line is be consistent and it is done.

As for digital reading... important factor is close loop.. Else you will be tweeking your box like no tomorrow just to get it to a range you desire.. Each time you open the box, humidity will go up and you will have to wait ages for it to be right-- depending on ambient condition.. a real pain.

Why they dont make it close loop, I cannot understand. The electronic bits are dirt cheap these days and lots cheaper in bulk purchase!

I use the AIPO and is good enough.. Dont remember paying that much for the size you are looking... but it could have naik a lot since ....

the sizes of the dry box from aipo for a closed loop digital version is just too huge for me (as-38)

the smaller ones as-25 and as-28 are the right size but they have a digital meter but the heater unit is analog

i think the only option for now are the octopus ones but have seen 1 bad review on them ... but i guess thats the only option for now

Strongly recommend you to go for a bigger unit.. if it is within your affordable range.. It is never too big.. most of us run out of space eventually..! sweat.gif

best your friend explain what is useless 1 and unnecessary..

The cabinet is to dehumidify and provide a condition that is not conducive for fungus to grow.

He best elucidate us.
