Thermaltake Blue Orb II or Golden Orb II brows.gif

Blue Orb II better than Golden Orb II, the Golden Orb II too noisy. Supplier themself will discontinue the product since got a number of complain for over noisy.

Nice sugo... how's the temps like?

The AMD 3000+ Venice was still running at stock speed, idle around 26C in non-aircond room with room fan turned on. In air conditioned room, can reach 20C. Not sure what is the result after OC.

Yeah thumbup.gif

Water cooling solves your worries. Even my NT06 on the AMD X2 3600+, my board shows the temp to be around 60C in a 20C air cond room. My PSU is sucking the heat from the NT06 too.

I think i might wanna try to change to the Scythe Andy Samurai as an alternative, not sure if it'll be too high for the height or not, but anyone else with other advices ?

Yo bro. Aiks, should have recommended u to use another item to light up the CCFL. Later i post my pic for u to c.

But here's the pic that i mean:

In the above pic, I've moved the stock 80mm fan for the HDD to the top as another exhaust fan. Replace it with a FM 82 which allows me to control the speed of the fan to cool the HDD.

This pic below shows that UV CCFL. The round shaped CCFL that is attached to the fan. When lighted up, it'll produce a nice UV effect in the casing and don't need the 30cm UV CCFL. It'll b hard to fit it.

user posted image

The round shaped UV CCFL its from the Sunbeam's CCFL Fan Kit with a 80mm Fan. The fan itself is UV re-active, u can use it to cool ur HDD, but i don't use it coz i can't step the noise from it. hehehe. The circuitry for the UV module its fitted at the bottom of the middle bar. Not sure if its a good place or not, but i might find another place with some cooling air to cool it along inside the casing.

My right side of the SG01 don't need any lighting, coz the Crucial Ballistix Tracer will light it up that side. cool.gif
I don't have my PSU with me now to show the lighted environment, and then later add in with a HIS IceQ Turbo GC will be nice.

I'll upload more pics later bro.
The Sunbeam fan, u can check ur local side there for the stock, shouldn't b more than RM 35, if not, then u can check with me later on if u want it.

bro, where u manage to find those blue cable tie base?

or u spray em into blue laugh.gif

often found black and white, no other color cry.gif
what is there to mod?

most SFF casing is already (mostly) perfect

95% ppl that using SFF for sure r not those high-end stuff user

only those 5% user using high-end stuff will be needing to mod the case for thermal issue (eg. water cooling)

or what ever issue wink.gif
*
Bro, if u refer to the pic above, i think its the normal white cable tie.

For the blue UV cable tie, I got it from another supplier in singapore who sells plastic cable wraps. Its UV re-active. I'll upload some pics of it soon. Now testing it out and will post some pics later on.

This wan previously the local distri got a few stocks for RM 300 only, but now no more oledi. in Singapore, its available for above RM 350 and near RM 400, not worth oledi. But the space inside is really generous and it'll b able to even fit a 120mm rad like the one from Swiftech H2O COmpact 120. Good stuff, just that its very heavy due to full SECC constructions with a little bit of plastic and arcylic.

Thanks guys for some info! Will definately look up the sale thread and get hold of a silverstone case, since its highly recommended. Also, i have come to know that Ati 2600XT would be a better choice then Nvidia 8600 for watching HD movies, so i think i'll get a Ati2600XT.
I'm still undecided on which mATX mobo to get.... any suggestions? maybe in the RM200-RM250 region? Thanks guys!
*
Since u r looking for a mobo to go with the 2600XT, why not couple a good basic mobo with all the available features like sufficient usb, ieee 1394 and good 7.1 sound system onboard and leave the rest of the graphic solution to your graphic card. Also, i think a ATI 3650 would b a much better choice.

U seem to like the Silverstone SG01, get the unit with the transparent side panel, u'll have a matt black finishing inside which would b nice and since this casing comes with 4 USB connectors in the front and a ieee 1394 port, the better to have ur mobo ready with all the available ports.

Here's some suggestions:

AMD Path:

AMD X2 (any X2 are good enuf for HTPC setups, but X2 5000+ BE would b nice)
Asus M2NPV-VM -- Has all the features a basic M-ATX mobo needs including the IEEE 1394, recommend u to change the chipset heatsinks to aftermarket choices too since Nvidia chipsets r well known for the heat.
HIS 3650 ICEQ 512 -- Better to take the 512MB versions since u planning to watch on a LCD TV which is at least 32" in size, all that extra memory would b helpful

Then of coz the basic would b, 2gb or memory, hdd and modular PSU if possible. The SG01 can get cramp up pretty fast. If you wanna look stylish, couple it with the Pioneer Piano finish surface DVD Writer.

For Intel's Path, I think so far, only Abit Fatal1ty F-I90HD suits my taste, although its missing the IEEE 1394 connector, which isn't too crucial, just feel a little wasted that i doesn't get connected and need to b removed from the casing to avoid cacing scenario. Other M-ATX mobo aren't that satisfying yet, though there's some Nvidia chipsets, but those r really toasty due to the extreme heat produced by the Nvidia chipsets.

In my personal opinion, I would prefer the Asus P5E-VM HDMI, but i need a moq of 5 buyers only the distri willing to bring in for RM 480. So, since the new P5Q-EM is priced similarly with it, then i might as well consider this since it doesn't need any MOQ. However, since DFI launched the JR version of the P45, I'm more tempted towards the JR now. Mainly because:

1. No on-board GC, avoid any bottleneck in OC caused by it.
2. A pure P45 chipset, should b able to perform similarly to the DK versions.
3. Crossfire is a plus point, especially after seeing the 4870X2 crossfire. drool.gif drool.gif
4. Its a DFI with UV effects brows.gif

Downside of JR:
1. Dun have IEEE-1394, useless to me, but bcoz my SG01 has a front panel connector for it, i just wanna connect it, then UV the wire with UV sleeve, would b nice, despite it still being very useless to me.
2. If crossfire, no more available slots for better audio(Auzentech?) or TV-card, unless i crossfire 4850.

So, this brings me back to the option of Asus P5Q-EM, mayb need to get more review info on it 1st, b4 deciding between the JR or the Asus version.

**I'm abit of Asus fanboy, mainly bcoz i kinda grumble.gif towards the colorful-ness of Gigabytes.

But for me Abit's Fatal1ty FI-90HD is still a nice board, just missing some essence such as IEEE-1394, crossfire and doesn't able to hit high FSB. Depends alot on Multipliers to reach high CPU clocks.

Therefore, for me, now its just between the JR or the Asus P5Q-EM / P5QL-EM.

mADmAN: Yes i'm getting my shuriken this weekend along with my scythe bulk. But zipang dun haf la, coz the distri only bring in this shuriken. Interested ? brows.gif

I've been looking for some coolers with max 70mm height and good cooling ability, so far its either fanless on the SS NT06 or with fan on the zalman CNPS8700(i think this is the model) or the TT blueorb, but i think my best choice is the shuriken at the moment. I also saw in the CustomPC mag from UK in MPH there's a new Thermalright cooler which is aimed for SFF cases, not yet officially launched but it'll be available soon. So meantime, i'll try out the shuriken 1st. I'm using the Scythe Andy Samurai Master at the moment on my office rig, awesome performance even if i go fanless, temp stays below 40C on mild load for stock settings. Awesome quality from Scythe I must say. So, my hopes on the SHuriken is quite high, hopefully don't get disappointed. Anyone using this at the moment ?
