squeeky noise from steering is actually the airBag trigger cable. SA said its like that.

my nearly 10 years old Focus never have this sound also... shakehead.gif
ooh.. D shape rubber to reduce the wind noise.... good. I got a small D installation on my ride too.

Ya, tomorrow I'm going to soundproof all my 4 doors and engine upper firewall at GA Auto Soundworks~ thumbup.gif

Then, Friday morning to Toyota Balakong for the roof insulation.. guess my project is done then... next up would be ICE... babeh~~

4 pieces as in 4 layers on for roof top? With the kind of thickness plus it's 4 layers, should be good enough?
*
haha...1 piece is for 1 row. at our roof top there,we hv 4 empty row. so..they put 4 pieces ...not 4 layers. shocking.gif

the length is about 1 meter long or 1.5 . not so sure.

sure biggrin.gif

Our driver car front door... look at how empty and hollow it is:
http://1drv.ms/1s2N0qa

http://1drv.ms/1s2N8WE
Rear door:
http://1drv.ms/1s2NfBo

totally naked, just a plastic cover:
http://1drv.ms/1mWPR3B
Layer 1 for door... STP Gold for sound insulation and dampening effect:
http://1drv.ms/1s2NvQS

installed on doors:
http://1drv.ms/1s2NBbs
Layer 2 for another level of sound proof:
http://1drv.ms/1s2NH2H

http://1drv.ms/1s2NSLw
Above doors are done... Now move to engine upper firewall:

empty... just below the wipers compartment:
http://1drv.ms/1s2NXid

applied layer 1:
http://1drv.ms/1s2O9Or

then second layer on top of first layer:
http://1drv.ms/1s2OkJD

following is layer 2 material:
http://1drv.ms/1s2OrF6
Overall first impression driving back from Setiawangsa to Cheras... engine revving noise really been greatly reduced... by around 65% i would said. Engine idling sound is very minimal.

For the doors, external noise from crossing car were reduced. To be honest, not much; perhaps around 30-40% i guess. However, the door felt much more solid as single sheet installed on each door weighs 400-500gram. The dampening is good. When u knock on the doors, its damn solid now.. like duk duk duk, instead of tong tong tong. Due to the heavier weight on door, closing the door requires less effort; because of the stronger momentum swing.

Hope this review helps.
i've consulted Welgan of GA Auto Soundworks... he said the thin cushion provided by Toyota do help to reduce noise... but no dampening effect at all. That means... rain drop milo tin noise will still be there.

got a quote from Welgan on roof... it cost RM580 at his place, same material applied on doors... STP Gold dampening and another layer of the 3M white cloth insulation.

just install this part can reduct most of the noise from engine? so geng?

after i install the 4 doors. really want to continue to do other parts of sound insulation... hmm.gif hmm.gif

next plan...but not so fast........floor..................if the engine noise can reduce just put on the upper part....will make it as a 1st priority....

the roof top...i just forget about it 1st....hahaha

not sure this help or not.

initially i hv a passenger sound when go up or down my apartment car park (same as shopping mall). i put sponge at few place. now...i think no more already/ or rarely have.

place that i put. either 1 actually solved. i am not sure.

(1) cup holder passenger
(2) behind the drawer ( pull out the drawer, you saw alot of wired. i wrap it up.
(3) below the drawer, actually there hv 1 plastic cover can easily move. i just make it not so easy swing only.

for the B pillar one.. ( but my case is after intall D shape 3m only hear) actually is from the rear driver door)

i spray the door using WD-40 ( same row with B pillar)

no more sound....

i believe its due to the body finishing whereby one 1 metal and the other is plastic.

agree with this. plastic more easy become yellowish.
