The Messenger app is a standalone app. Separate from the main Facebook app.

But funny thing is, on my dad's iPhone, his Facebook app has the Messenger app integrated in it.
Perhaps it's only on iOS.

Good ROMs are already out there. Might just need some time for developers to iron out the bugs and glitches.
