QUOTE(barbar554 @ Jan 14 2014, 05:57 PM) I notice Apple like sapphire glass a lot. First it was their camera lens on the i5, followed by the fingerprint scanner on the 5S. Maybe 'cause Apple is using it, then everyone thinks ZOMG! APPLE ISH USING IT!!! MUST BE BESTTT!!!! im pretty sure iphone 6 would be utlilizing sapphire glass. not apple the trendsetter la. Sapphire glass theoretically only diamond can scratch it whereas tempered glass today like the corning gorillas and dragontail is still prone to scratches caused by minerals, sands and dust particles. luxury watches all use sapphire glasses.

IMO glass screen protector has an edge. Normal impact yes both can disperse de pressure evenly etc etc. (some are just marketing gimmicks if u ask me).
Anyway glass screen protectors will absorb all impact upon heavy drops. That being said ur glass sp will break and scatter n save ur actual screen. Most often all it takes is the pin point pressure to give de deadly blow. Not ball bearings hammers bla bla bla...

QUOTE(- JaY - @ Jan 15 2014, 02:50 AM) happens randomly though. my habit is to always use the back button to get back to homescreen instead of the home button. so during the transition, it might "show" other apps such as WeChat, FKU, Browser for a sec and then back to home screen eventhough i pressed the back button once.. Seems like I am the only one facing this issue as XDA shows nothing on this. Will try to troubleshoot more. now that you bring this up yes i remember experiencing it once. one second on google now then home screen. happen too rarely I didnt bother. yes im on franco r32.

QUOTE(zc_squash @ Jan 15 2014, 04:50 PM) Does any of the custom roms have Photosphere baked in the default camera app? Or can I manually install it? AFAIK all GApps need manually install and cores dont include photosphere. So yeah need to manually install from modular packages.

QUOTE(djlah @ Jan 15 2014, 05:26 PM) is not n5 didn't have this feature. as far I know only samsung device add video call function but not for rest by default. as google don't support it. why you still need or asking this question today? I agree with rest of vendor not wasting their time to add this function. In additional, our data plan also affordable now for you to make a video call via various of free apps available. if refer to previous cycle, 1 vendor for 2 gen of nexus phone; so next nexus phone I vote for sony. since google already committed keep improving camera quality. RAW support on next, I believe google also need better hardware such as camera lens and sensor vendor support. just imaginations running wild. wouldn't it be great if its nokia.....

QUOTE(stormlcc @ Jan 15 2014, 10:24 PM) u have to understand why google set their photosphere so low in res, it's because they want ppl to upload them to their database, mainly, google maps and they want more people to use street view function. i have been an uploader of photospheres since the function became available and most of them are viewed more than 1000 times, if the file size of photosphere became too big, i wouldn't have done this so many times and people would refrain from viewing them especially with their phones because of the heavy data usage to load them. yes, google can set the resolution much higher and then compress them during upload just like what facebook did with photos, but it would take more time to do so with a high res photosphere than a normal photo and it would defeat the purpose of encouraging people like me to spend more time taking and uploading them. maybe in the future they can do this, maybe they are working on it right now but photosphere still works quite well with low res even now. for people who are not familiar about photosphere and how large the database is, u can download SPHERESHARE on the play store and take a look (u can even do this in your desktop). people takes amazing photospheres even when they are low res. if u love the photospheres on SPHERESHARE, u can even purchase the PRO version and download them into your phone. it is quite lovely. I instantly downloaded sphere share HAHAHAA

okay put hardware aside.
algorithm wise Lenovo and apple does it much better den the likes of sony, htc, Lg....bear in mind most uses sony's 13mp BSI sensor so hardware is not an excuse.
user experience nobody beats apple if u ask me. its hassle free to take pictures on iphones and 90% of photos capture are sharp and usable. I really hope nexus could bulk up in this department.

QUOTE(ben5173 @ Jan 16 2014, 08:56 AM) hi, my unit is non-rooted. this is my second android phone after HTC G1, so wont be rooting the device anytime soon. I think it was confirmed from online sources that ART is draining more battery overnight. I will do a factory reset if switching back to Dalvik wont work. I dont think it is caused by ART. Slight extra battery consumption between both yes but shouldn't be drastic. BTW i still cant get my AI charging work=.= tried usb debugging tried force charge nth happens. would it be franco kernel tak support??
