This sudden thick snowfall really makes me nervous to travel next week. Just hope everything goes as plan. I didn't expect the weather would turn out like this.

QUOTE(chinti @ Feb 19 2014, 07:38 AM) guys, im in US now and planning to go Japan in May for about two weeks. i wanna ask, as long as im holding malaysia passport and doesnt matter i fly from US or Malaysia, i dun need visa right? and for travelling alone, staying in hostel, is suitcase convenient or backpack is better? Malaysian Bio metric Passport (which have the chip symbol on the cover) holders only exempted for visa. Older passport still need visa. |

I've used my ATM card to withdraw money from 7-11 without any problem. Banks will charge RM10 per withdrawal transaction though. And better inform you bank if you want to use your ATM/Debit/CC overseas. On the conversion rate, bank will convert to USD first and then to MYR. I prefer to use cash when I was there but I used my debit card with no problem at both Disneyland and Disneysea.

QUOTE(happyshirt @ Mar 11 2014, 10:09 AM) I'm trying to decide between this and getting b-mobile sim which i used in my last trip. What is the benefit if using the wi-fi over the bmobile sim? Been trying to figure this out but no success. apprecaite any insights as i'm going to japan again next month. With the dongle thing, you can connect more device to it compare to the sim which can only use on 1 device. I used the MiFi from Global Advance Comm last 2 weeks and it was superb. Had them delivered to the hotel since I arrived in Tokyo at night and returned it back at Haneda airport post box (which is just a small post box inside a shop). |

QUOTE(happyshirt @ Mar 11 2014, 12:02 PM) I got the 75mbps one and I was travelling with my wife so it's better to take the mifi thing. If you are travelling alone then getting the sim would be better but make sure you bring power bank. Using cellular network really take the juice out from the phone. |

IMHO ... there's nothing much you can see or do at Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building observation deck but it's free. I much prefer Tokyo Skytree, but that is just my opinion. BTW the banana cake is highly overated if you ask me. And spend more time in Ueno park. It's beautiful there and with the cherry blossom, I bet the view gonna be breathtaking. I'm not sure if you gonna have time to go to Ginza after a trip to Hakone. It would be a tiring day for sure. About Disneyland, what is your expectation? For me Disneyland is a bit of a let down. It's more toward kids than adult. I enjoyed more at Disneysea with the rides and attraction. Just some tips if you decide to go to Disneysea instead of Disneyland, go for the Tower of Terror fastpass first and then journey to the center of the earth fastpass. These 2 attraction have the longest waiting time and very popular. |

QUOTE(masterelr @ Mar 12 2014, 06:10 AM) How much did you pay for Tokyo Skytree and was it crowded? Someone I know went there at 11am and said that it was so crowded they had to queue up for a while and got a temporary ticket to enter at 3pm and even that won't guarantee a real ticket to go up there. But that was during a weekend. JPY2000 for Tembo deck (the lower part at 350m if not mistaken) and Jpy1000 for the Galeria (top part at 450m). I might be lucky as I didn't get any waiting time. There are crowds but we were in line for like 10 minutes to get the tickets. Went there around 11 am on a Friday. The view at Tembo Galeria is much better IMHO. They have a photo booth looking down on the glass floor at Tembo Deck. I think you can call first to check on the crowd level. |

QUOTE(zstan @ Mar 24 2014, 12:07 PM) but if you can read korean it becomes really easy because most words are actually directly translated Some even know malay/Indonesian language. I encountered one at sensoji, but basic malay la. I thought I heard it wrong but when she repeat it, then confirm la.haha how can you compare with those selling souvenirs. of course some learn mandarin to cater tourists. what i am talking is the general life in Japan.. from their road signs, warning signs, food menu (some chinese words mean certain type of meat so it's really easy to distinguish and restaurant workers generally know 0 english), labels etc. though i was lucky to meet one restaurant guy from china in a ramen shop. made life quite easy to order food Japanese will try to help you even if you don't speak Japanese. That's what I like about them. |

QUOTE(XtraSpicy @ Apr 9 2014, 01:56 PM) So last saturday i had a 5 and a half hour queue for sushi dai at tsukiji.. But is it worth it queuing 5 1/2 hour for sushi?Stupid and stubborn, i know.. im bad at cutting losses and call it quit. But i did enjoyed the food. And the conversations with people queuing too.. there was a group of marketing/advertisement people from Apple HQ there as well. |

QUOTE(WildChai @ Apr 21 2014, 02:03 PM) Hi, Go with wife and kid sumore. Good luck to youHad to plan a last minute trip to Japan...landing in osaka first then onwards from there. And it'll be within the golden week...I know it's a very high season but only time and opportunity I have. Plan to go tokyo also. Will add more places after doing more research. Would it be really difficult during that period? Over crowded trains and touristy places? Or still bearable? Going with wife n kid. |
