Hi all,

May i know where is the best place to buy souvenirs in tokyo? Those to give to my colleagues. Maybe a keychain or fridge magnet. And also how much is one roughly? Most sites i browse recommend buying yukata, noh mask, traditional umbrellas, but i'm looking for cheap trinkets. Are the things in Oriental Bazaar expensive?

Thanks ya.

the best and unique thing (also cheap) are rubbers (erasers for pencils) that are shaped like sushi.  everybody loves it.  i bought some at the Tsujiki Market (near main street).  you can also find them in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building but they are a bit more expensive.

for dark chocolate lovers, this is the best (and cheapest) gift for them:

you can easily find it in any family mart or general stores.

Really? Never been to Daiso. Ok so not gonna buy those erasers. Will just buy the standard keychains/magnets.
Anyone knows roughly how much is it?

I would prefer to go to Harajuku on Sunday. Thats when you can see the youth cultures. I mean, if you dont actually want to go to Harajuku for that then going on Thursday is fine. But if you go on Sunday you can also go to Yoyogi Park which is walking distance. Its gonna super crowded though but thats part of the experience biggrin.gif

Hey guys, I'll be at Kyoto in a few more days. To those who just came back from Japan, what do you wear? Long sleeves or just short sleeves? I'm planning to wear 2 layers of long sleeves t-shirt in daytime with a normal cardigan at night. Is this too much or not enough? I heard that it's cold at night. fyi, I have average tolerance to coldness.

I just got back from Tokyo on Tuesday and the weather is quite cool. I'm not sure if there would be much different in the weather in Tokyo and Kyoto though. But last week in Tokyo, for day temperature the coldest was 10°C and hottest was 25°C. Besides that one day where it dropped to 10°C, average is around 18°C - 20°C. Night was around 13°C.

I think 2 layers of long sleeve is too much. Especially if you're gonna be walking a lot. There are days when i was not wearing any jacket but was still sweating sweat.gif
