QUOTE(shadow_nb7 @ Apr 20 2014, 10:33 AM) i'm looking for a place to stay in tokyo, for 2 nights. So, I went to this one site, airbnb.com. Just wondering did anyone ever tried this site before? Or maybe any of u could suggest me any other place/site that I could search for? Preferably, someplace where I could cook and also at the same time cheap. My last choice would be sakura asakusa hostel. I just booked an apartment using arbnb.com for my trip in November. Reading reviews helps a lot on how near it is to the station, whats near by, and what you can/cannot do. QUOTE(sacwoc @ Apr 20 2014, 01:33 AM) I guess you are talking about the limousine bus. I take these bus often to the airport as it much more convenient for me than the train as there is a stop near my home. It is just like any other bus and you pay while you board. Good thing is that they will load and unload your luggage for you, instead of you dragging it around the train station. yeah the limousine bus. Thanks for the info. Will try it out then. Was it ever crowded when you board? Am thinking whether its necessary for me to reserve a seat.

At the moment I'm still checking and listing out the places I want to visit in Tokyo. Haven't started studying on the trains yet. Hearing how big the stations are makes me scared. Might end up the whole day there looking for the right way out. I expect the compile all the places I want to go by next month. After that study the train stations and then a bit of the language for my November trip.

QUOTE(stormlcc @ Apr 25 2014, 04:52 PM) please be reminded that you have to write the complete address of your accommodation (if you are renting apartment) in Japan in the immigration form or else they won't let you pass. our group have few people who doesn't know the address and was rejected to enter until we helped them fill out the form. we were renting apartment from airbnb. for hotel, you just have to write down hotel name and area of the hotel. Thanks for the info. I'm also renting an apartment from airbnb, in Shinjuku.

QUOTE(ZeroSP @ May 1 2014, 01:00 PM) In Tokyo, I got a pack of Kit Kat at 256 yen lol. Where/which shop did you buy it from? I was told a box cost around RM60. Inside got 10 miniboxes with 4 sticks. So total per box is 40 sticks. But I think that's probably at the airport.

QUOTE(ZeroSP @ May 1 2014, 11:33 PM) Don Quijote, or simply Donki for locals (ドン。キボテ) Everything is cheap there... They operated a chain of stores, I visited the one in Shibuya, Ikebukuro, and Akihabara. They sell nearly everything, electronics, foods and drinks, shirts, cosmetics, even your adult goods. A pack of kit kat is 256yen, I bought the dark chocolate which is very nice. A bottle of 1.5 litre EVIAN (note, it is really EVIAN) mineral water is only 162 yen. What a steal. Must visit then. Looks like a good place to bring something home. Thanks.

Are there any nice places to visit in Roppongi during the day time? I checked around and seems like Mori Tower at Roppongi Hills is the only place I'm interested in. I like being in tall buildings. Is visiting Mori Tower even necessary when I'm already planning to visit Sunshine 60 Observation Deck, Tokyo Skytree and Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building? There's also Mori Garden, a museum, Kyu Shiba Rikyu Garden in Roppongi which I'm not that interested in. Thinking on whether to skip Roppongi all together.
I heard the night life is good but I'll probably spend my night life in Shinjuku since I'm staying there.

QUOTE(ZeroSP @ May 2 2014, 11:17 PM) All the places you mentioned, I visited all lol. Tocho is free, so nothing so bad... But although sunny day, it is pretty cloudy so I could not see Mt Fuji. The same applies to SkyTree, I bought ticket but still the same weather applies. But SkyTree though be prepared to queue and squish around a bit. It is only 2 years old, and knowing this many locales actually still have not visited it yet + touring group. Roppongi Hills, I went there to meet bro sacwoc for my ticket. That was a rainy day, so I walk along the mall a bit, tour along the garden down to the TV Asahi HQ where I spend quite a bit of time there. Thanks for the info. For SkyTree I'm planning to reach there earliest in the morning on a weekday to beat the queue. Not sure if that will work though. I just don't want to go there and later being told to come back a few hours later. There are some lucky people who were able to go in immediately or within 30 minutes.

QUOTE(ZeroSP @ May 2 2014, 11:38 PM) And oh remember to get this... Oh yeah definitely. Since I'll arrive at Henda around midnight, I'm thinking whether to stay at the First Cabin capsule hotel (cost around RM160 a night) at the airport or save up and sleep on the chairs. The capsule hotel looks nice and there are some good reviews. Anyone been there?

QUOTE(Human Nature @ May 3 2014, 12:09 PM) I stayed at the non VIP room before. I am a light sleeper so it was difficult to sleep (this is my only complain) because the room is not entirely closed. Sleeping on airport chairs may be even worse for me i assume. The facilities and cleanliness were great. Spotless. Staffs were great too. Did you reserve online or walked in?

QUOTE(Human Nature @ May 3 2014, 01:12 PM) reserve online. no prior payment required. paid at the counter. Wah that's good. Means I can still choose to sleep on the chairs if I changed my mind at the airport.

I calculated my travelling expenses for my Tokyo trip in November and its around RM200/7000yen for 7 days. I'm planning to top up my Suica card with 7000yen and just use it throughout the trip. Is that a good idea or is there a better way?

QUOTE(RegentCid @ Jun 9 2014, 10:08 AM) 3200 Yen starting price + 8% sales tax Wow that's pretty expensive. Can't remember it thats the standard price for their t shirt though. Which Hard Rock cafe is worth visiting in Tokyo? Roppongi or Ueno? I'll most likely visit Ueno because they seem to have their own unique Ueno T shirt design there. Planning to buy a few T shirts and caps since I do collect them. This post has been edited by masterelr: Jun 9 2014, 08:14 PM
