Hi bro,

Appreciate if anyone can help me to clarify this.

I plan to buy JR Kanto Area Pass at Shinjuku on 28 Apr 2014 maybe around 7PM (since their office closes at 8PM).

Once purchased, i can only use this pass on 28Apr, 29 & 30Apr (until midnight) correct? Effective 1st May i will not be able to use this pass already am i right?
*
hi, it depend on your date. You have to tell them when is your start date, it will be printed in the pass. If you only use it from 29 Apr ... just tell them 29 Apr-1 May.
Something like this...

Apart from Kansai Thru Pass, JR West Rail Pass, JR West Rail Pass, and Kintetsu Rail Pass, is there any separate pass that gives me unlimited / discounted ride for:

(a) Osaka City Subway?

I found this Osaka Visitor Ticket but only apparently not sold in Japan or Malaysia
https://www.osaka-info.jp/en/access/other_card04.html
(b) Kintetsu Nara Line between Osaka and Nara?
*
you got the answer already... btw, Kansai Thru Pass is the best suit if you travel more often, else ICOCA (or now become part of Suica) is more flexible and worth.

So I found out that Kabukicho and Roppongi are said to be one of the more dangerous places in Tokyo. Are there any tips that I should know about so I don't get into trouble? Like don't stare or take pics or anything like that?

Nothing will happen la bro... I went there walk alone and take photo b4. they dun even bother u.
Only if u interested, then u only engage them. usually the local (japanese) wont layan u, but there are many chinese too. they can guide u and translate for u. (IF YOU WANT) tongue.gif

simple question:

I have 3 days in Kansai area:

2 days in Osaka, 1 day in Nara

so which pass should i get when i reach KIX airport?:

Icoca & Haruka (package) - 4000yen (http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2359_icoca_haruka.html)

OR

KANSAI THRU PASS - 5000yen (http://www.surutto.com/tickets/kansai_thru_english.html)

FYI I already have 7 day JR pass but that will be used during my 7 days trip from between Kyoto - Osaka, and Osaka = Tokyo

thanks  notworthy.gif

I dont see you need Kansai Thru Pass..
you have 7 day JR Pass, which will be start from 7th until 13th.
from your iti 6th and 13th at osaka, you just need to take subway few times only. on 14th Nara day, if you're not rushing, just take kintetsu line express from kintetsu nippombashi to kintetsu nara only 540yen each way. Those ltd exp just 10mins faster. IMO, just get ICOCA and haruka will do bro, so that you can take Haruka train to and fro aiport. Haruka round trip tix valid for 2 weeks.
The ICOCA and Haruka price will b slightly increase effective 1 Apr, to 4060 yen.

QUOTE(camikun @ Mar 23 2014, 12:23 PM)
hye i need some help here to plan my trip..

im going to kyoto from osaka(namba)

the first day i plan to go to osaka by shinkansen..
place im going in kyoto:
- arashiyama
- fushimi inari

second day im going by normal train (kansai thruu pass)
place to go:
- ginkakuji
- higashiyama
than go to nara..

so can you help me on which train to get which station
there is to many train and station  rclxub.gif
or should i get bus insted in kyoto??
*
bro, u go kyoto from osaka via Shinkansen? you sure? (or you just wan to try out shinkansen becos during your visit you wont take it)
use kansai thru pass just to go nara? Your day 2 is packed. Ginkakuji is near to northern kyoto, higashiyama is east kyoto. These 2 places could probably taken up your whole day time. Nara is further away, which deserved a day tour.
For me, I take bus in kyoto (with combination of subway, if far).

tq for your reply..
i have read about the golden temple and i dont see the interest there..
most of the area is not accessible by tourist..
the only different that i see is only the gold covered temple..
and it is quite far..

if i travel using bus in kyoto how should i know place that i have to drop of??
is there any indicator in the bus??
*
Accessibility in kyoto may find difficult bcos not much subway or train. but kyoto is preserved landscape, it's still in its traditional way/form in many places.
Kinkakuji and Ginkakuji both are worth to visit, the golden temple is awesome and gorgeous, while the silver pavilion may not be nice as the golden, but the nicely built up japanese garden and a little hill trail is very nice. view from the hill overseeing kyoto city and the combination with ginkakuji roof in your photo is thumbup.gif .

http://www.city.kyoto.jp/koho/eng/access/i...ieigo-omote.pdf
http://www.city.kyoto.jp/koho/eng/access/i...eigo-rosenn.pdf

Every bus have the screen, dont worry, got English. There is short route and long route, please study the bus route before you go. It will save your time.

you may combine arashiyama with kinkakuji.
ginkakuji with higashiyama.
nishiki market is depend on your time, take note that the shops start closing around 5pm. Potoncho is good for dinner, and gion is good for evening stroll.

is this inside all public bus or just kyoto bus only?

anyway, it's AWESOME!

2 weeks to go, countdown begins!

Moriya Steak House at Sannomiya Area.
After your Steak.  You can go Sannomiya Station and take the Hanshin Main Line (阪神電気鉄道本線) to Shin-Kobe Station.

There was alot Country embassy at that area.  Alot old Europe style building around that area.  Alot old style Europe Coffee & Cake house around that location.  time to do the Homework  brows.gif

Next to the Shin-Kobe Station got a cable car station for going Up Kobe Hill.  You can see Kobe City another side of view from Top of the Hill.  very Different what you see from Kobe Tower at Habour area.
BONUS  brows.gif  brows.gif
At Sannomiya Station you also can take Port Island Line (神戸新交通ポートライナー) to Kobe Airport.  Go there Relax , Feel the Big Wind blowing on your Face and watching the Aircraft Take Off or Landing

D1 Sat 05/04
- Arrive 07:15 KIX Osaka
- Check-in Hotel Monterey Lasoeur
- Osaka Castle
- Umeda
D2 Sun 06/04
- Day trip to Kyoto
- Arashiyama – Sagano Bamboo Path
- The Sagano Scenic Railway
- Nishiki Market-
- Kiyomizudera

D3 Mon 07/04
- Day trip to Kyoto & Nara
- Fushimi Inari
- Nara Park
- Todalji Temple
- Naramachi
D4 Tue 08/04
- Kuromon Ichiba
- Namba/Namba Park
- Shinsaibashi
- Dotonbori

Mr. Expert, above is my initial itinerary.... but after some searching, Yoshino came up. Since my visit to this area is coincide with the cherry blossom season. Do you think I should forgo Arashiyama on D2 and replaced with Fushimi Inari... to wrap up all the attractions I wanna visit in Kyoto in 1 day? For the D3, is it possible to do a day trip to Yoshino in the morning from Osaka and back to Nara maybe after 3pm to do Nara Park, Todalji Temple and Naramachi. Enough time? From the photo, Yoshino is so stunning compared to Arashiyama in cherry blossom season.  drool.gif
*
Bro, D4 seems free. If you only want to walk, shop and eat, why not adding in Shinsekai. its near to Namba. Other seems fine.
You giving up arashiyama for fushimi? doh.gif cherry blossom bro. If you like sakura, why not add 1 more to your D1, Kema Sakuranomiya Park, not far from osaka castle.
Yoshino is far. dun think you can complete it with Todaiji. You are very rush like that.. not worth at all. Maybe you can do in ur D4, start ur journey with Yoshino, then come back to namba, shinsaibashi and dotonbori.

lol... see you at arashiyama, if you didn't change plan.
