If you worried about getting a job, do an accounting and get ACCA. Yeah rite, theres a lot of people taking accountings but as long as people didnt stop their business, theres always a market place for accountants.

Even thou we say job market for IT cert is limited but imagine, almost all companies is depending on an IT business to run their business, they surely require a horde of IT workforce to run and maintain it. Theres a market value for IT grads, just that you have to freaking know some practical thing. Consider taking some CCNA, MCSE, or even a master to give you the cutting edge.

When you doing the same thing most people also doing, expect competition.

DO NOT CHOOSE PROGRAMMER/SOFTWARE DEVELOPER if you arent interested in programming, thinking logics, repeating doing the same thing, chasing new technologies.

This is an easy job for ppl who like these and hell difficult for ppl who dont like them. Unlike account/business, once you graduate, you sleep for 10 years, then u go back to work, u still manage to work and understand what you are doing. If you are a programmer / SD, you are totally outdated. You always have to keep yourself with new technologies, learning new skills, ideas, logic, etc since technology is changing very rapidly. You cant just work, you will be outdated as well, you have to work and spend time learn by your own. If you arent interested in these fields, trust me, you wont learn by yourown after years of working. Unless you change to system analysis or project manager which do even more logic, experience, thinking and planning.

FYI, computer just has the like 10-20 years of history, think how fast technology is evolving, I have been a programmer for 5-6 years, yes, i like programming, and I like technologies, anyway I feel a bit tired chasing technologies. I have the knowledge of Barcode, RFID, fingerprint, CCTV, PLC, SMS, GPRS, GPS, Smartcard, MyKad, etc, imaging i still want to learn AI, image reconition, DirectX, etc, etc, etc.

becareful, sometime those 3 years course we wont get even a single diploma cert if you didnt complete 3 years..

read the link, 1st year is very basic for computing student.
2nd & 3rd year go in deeper on networking.
Actually this course is quite good, really majorin in networking.... not like others mix all those stuff together. By the way, in IT industry it didnt assess your cert or wat your're majoring during ur Uni time.... they just want the skill..... smile.gif

just single opinion ...nvm..
but the problem what i facing is..just worrying about whether IT field still have how long lifespan. :-|

so wish all the people here give me and share ur opinion especially who already work in the IT field for quite a long time. Thanks a lot.

I am a BIT graduate with an "useless" MCSE cert working as a so-called web developer.. wanted to dive into technical line (eg. technical support, networking and not programming.. dislike programming but has programming background) but then went to a few interviews and most of them said prefer guys than girls.. so, ended up in what i'm doing now. kinda enjoy but then not sure about the future prospects in this field. anyone care to enlighten me?

my current comp is giving less than RM1.5K. not that i really care about the pay but since the petrol rise + parking + expenses for working in KL.. couldn't help it.. tongue.gif

hahah mean my guess is correct. biggrin.gif
But some of the senior SA only have Rm8k and senior App Dev even lower like 4-6k.
*
Haha .. the guess is on half correct ... pay is higher but not by a lot and certainly not at the range 6 - 8k. The fun part is the flexibility and the more knowledge.

I was from mostly at development front-lines most of the time till the current company where I support enterprise applications. A different environment altogether blink.gif

If you strong in programming, you should start programming as your basic stand first. You know well in programming, learn basic common thing like, Windows, Linux cmd and SQL Database. After you learn this, you may start your own business because you are pro in many field
