Player Ratings

Ederson – 6.5

Entirely untroubled in the City goal. A nice and quiet evening for the Brazilian.

Matheus Nunes – 7.5

Terrific evening from Nunes, keeping the Bournemouth left hand side quiet, making a few key tackles and blocks and finding himself in the right place more often than not.

Manuel Akanji – 7

Not much to do in what was a comfortable evening for the City defence.

Ruben Dias – 6.5

Rather sloppy in possession at times, giving the ball away carelessly in defence and couldn’t pick the ball back up before conceding the goal.

Josko Gvardiol – 6.5

Misplaced the pass which lead to the red card for Mateo Kovacic. A quiet night outside of that stand alone incident.

Ilkay Gundogan – 7.5

Solid outing for Gundogan, who picked up a tidy assist for City’s second goal.

Mateo Kovacic – 5

A red card for the Croatian after 67 minutes, but an otherwise fine display.

Kevin De Bruyne – 10 (MOTM)

How could we not? The greatest player to ever wear the shirt laid his hat in the ring for the final time, as he captained his side to victory once more. There’s only one Kevin De Bruyne.

Bernardo Silva – 8

Shades of the old Bernardo Silva with his display tonight, dazzling in midfield while even grabbing a goal.

Omar Marmoush – 8

Opened the scoring with a phenomenal strike. A clinical display from the Egyptian overall.

Erling Haaland – 7

Haaland seemed more determined to give De Bruyne a goal than he did to score himself. A tame afternoon in front of goal, but a solid display all round.

Substitutes

Nico – 7

Did his job tidily when called upon and picked up his first goal for City in the Premier League.

Rodri – N/A

Not enough action to provide a rating, but how nice was it to see him return to the Etihad?

Jeremy Doku – N/A

Oscar Bobb – N/A

Jack Grealish – N/A

Player Ratings

Ederson: Some strange shanks from a left foot that is normally on point, leaving Pep Guardiola less than impressed. 5

Nunes: Did really well to get City out of some dangerous situations in the first half with the game in the balance but then gave away the goal. 7

Dias: A few moments where he was too casual and it nearly cost City, balanced out by some better play. 7

Akanji: Struggled to push forward and help City put pressure on, although defensively he improved as the game went on. 6

Gvardiol: Some nice surges down the left wing and he worked well with Marmoush and Erling Haaland. 7

Kovacic: Played really well, right up until the moment where he stupidly pulled Evanilson back as the last man and was sent off. 4

Gundogan: One of his brightest games in a while, full of running and intelligence. Made the second goal. 8

Silva: Showed the limitations going forward that have been clear all season, but kept working and got a goal. 7

De Bruyne: Missed a sitter! And nobody cared. An important win to send off one of the most important players. 7

Marmoush: An incredible goal to take the net off the goal and the roof off the stadium. Slightly erratic otherwise but lively. 8

Haaland: Another game without a goal, although his movement was much better and he was a threat to Bournemouth all game. 7

Substitutes

Gonzalez (for De Bruyne, 68) Clattered by Cook but picked himself up to score. 7

Rodri (for Haaland, 83) He's back. 6

Bobb (for Marmoush, 92) No time.

Grealish (for Gundogan, 92) No time.

Doku (for Silva, 92) No time.

Ederson (4/10):

Played with fire when he casually sent the ball straight to Marcus Tavernier and was grateful to Dias for blocking the shot. Made an early straightforward save from Justin Kluivert but should have done better with Jebbinson's late goal.

Matheus Nunes (6/10):

Gave City the width they badly lacked at Wembley which helped pin the visitors back. Had a wayward strike, trying and failing to replicate Marmoush's worldie.

Ruben Dias (6/10):

Made a silly early mistake when he gave the ball to Evanilson. Partly compensated for it with his brave block on Tavernier, bailing out Ederson. But then he was too slow and too weak to stop Jebbinson scoring at the end.

Manuel Akanji (6/10):

More comfortable back in central defence than at right-back at Wembley.

Josko Gvardiol (5/10):

Had a positive first half and involved in City's frequent attacks down the left side. Loses marks for his hospital pass which forced Kovacic to take out Evanilson, getting sent off for his efforts.

Kevin De Bruyne (5/10):

It must have been an emotional night for him but the truth is the occasion got to him. Or he was still tired from Saturday. Either way, he signed off with a rusty display. Only he will know how he missed the open goal and his passing was sloppy. His best moment was his cross for Haaland.

Mateo Kovacic (6/10):

Gave City the midfield control they lacked in the final. He was not far from scoring in the first half in a front-footed display. But he loses marks for getting sent off, even if Gvardiol was largely to blame for putting him in the situation.

Bernardo Silva (8/10):

Gave a battling performance which backed up his fighting talk after the final. Also got the all-important second goal after his team-mates kept missing sitters.

Ilkay Gundogan (8/10):

Conjured a lovely piece of skill to set up the second goal. Moved the ball around thoughtfully throughout, suggesting he could have had a bigger impact in the final had he started.

Omar Marmoush (8/10):

What a way to respond to his penalty miss in the final. His goal was one part awesome quality, the other sheer audacity. Each time it was replayed on the big screen, the crowd's coos got louder.

Erling Haaland (5/10):

Couldn't get a goal from a De Bruyne assist, which is what the crowd wanted. It nearly came when the Belgian curled in a high cross to the back post but he opted to throw his foot into the air rather than head it and bungled the opportunity. His hold-up play was also lacking.

Subs & Manager

Nico Gonzalez (6/10):

Got a brutal introduction to the game when Cook clattered into him. Did well to shake off the pain and score his first Premier League goal.

Rodri (N/A):

The crowd's roar when he came on said it all. How they have missed their lynchpin this season. And he extended his unbeaten run in the Premier League to 36 games.

Oscar Bobb (N/A):

Brought on in added time
Jeremy Doku (N/A):

Another late adition.

Jack Grealish (N/A):

Came on in added time for what should be and probably will be his final appearance at the Etihad Stadium

Pep Guardiola (7/10):

Picked a suitable line-up this time, restoring natural holding midfielders. His team were dominant and he used his substitutions to give De Bruyne the ovation he deserved, give Rodri the comeback reception he deserved and to give Grealish one last smattering of minutes.

Ederson-6/10: Didn’t have a lot to do in what could also have been his final home game for Manchester City.

Matheus Nunes-7/10: He played well and picked up an assist. But his poor pass did give Bournemouth a consolation goal late on.

Manuel Akanji-6.5/10: I thought Akanji did his job well on the night. Certainly better than his recent performances.

Ruben Dias-6.5/10: A workman like performance from Dias.

Josko Gvardiol-6.5/10: I thought he had a good game but it was his misplaced pass that led to Mateo Kovacic’s red card. That’s the area of his game he must work on over the summer.

Mateo Kovacic-7/10: I’d have given him an 8 or higher if not for the red card. Before that, he helped his team control the game in a quality performance.

Bernardo Silva-9/10: Manchester City’s man-of-the-match for me. Scored City’s second goal and was all over the pitch. A brilliant performance from Bernardo.

Ilkay Gundogan-8/10: I thought Gundogan was superb. Alongside Mateo Kovacic, he dominated the midfield. Got forward well and picked up an assist for Bernardo’s goal.

Kevin De Bruyne-7.5/10: Got around pitch well and showed everything he remains capable of. A good display from De Bruyne in his final game at the Etihad for Manchester City.

Omar Marmoush-8.5/10: His goal alone is almost worth a 10/10 rating. But besides that his performance was good, and if not for a couple of poor touches he could’ve had an even better game.

Erling Haaland-7/10: A much better performance from Haaland. He got around the pitch well, linked up play well and was a threat to the Bournemouth defence. Haaland just needs a goal for his confidence, but if he plays like that, they’ll come.

Substitutes

Nico-7.5/10: Came on, put himself about and scored a quality goal. He’s a number eight and will be crucial for Manchester City next season.

Rodri-N/A: It was a fantastic moment to see him back on the pitch. The fact he was back on the pitch was special enough, his performance outside of that wasn’t the story.

Jeremy Doku-N/A: Not on long enough to mark

Oscar Bobb-N/A: Not on long enough to mark.

Jack Grealish-N/A: Not on long enough to mark.

According to the information of Sky Sport’s Sacha Tavolieri, Manchester City have maintained ‘regular contacts’ with the entourage of Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo, knowing that the financial difficulties of the La Liga champions would make finding a transfer agreement easier

That is according to the information of Maisfutebol, who reveal that SC Braga are in the market for a replacement for departed head coach Carlos Carvalhal, and are currently in the process of ‘evaluating in detail’ Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City, Carlos Vicens.

according to the information of Record in Portugal, who report that Manchester City assistant coach Carlos Vicens is now set to become the new manager of Portuguese giants SC Braga, with full confirmation of the agreement to come next week.

according to the information of Calciomercato’s Daniele Longo, negotiations between AC Milan and Manchester City for versatile midfielder Tijjani Reijnders are now ‘heating up’ with promising signs from the player, too.

As per a new report by O Globo, Flamengo are awaiting offers for the 21-year-old right back and are actively looking to cash in on the Brazilian for a fee in the region of €40-45 million in the summer.

City have also identified Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso as a target to strengthen their footing at right-back and Viana is believed to be conducting an audit of Guardiola’s squad as the season comes to a close before the club enter the transfer market.

After withdrawing their interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, Manchester City are making progress on a deal for Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White and have also stepped up their pursuit of AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders.

according to the information of Sportske Novosti, who reveal that the Mateo Kovacic has a ‘chronic problem’ with his heel bone, which has caused the 31-year-old to miss games for Pep Guardiola this season and suffer pain when he has featured.

Player Ratings

Ederson – 8

A clean sheet and numerous big saves at crucial moments in the game to protect Manchester City’s lead. Hopefully not the final time we see a true great of the goalkeeping industry starring for the club!

Matheus Nunes – 7.5

Another bright performance from the midfielder, who continues to impress when called-upon at right-back. While there are still defensive issues, his prowess going forward is possibly unrivalled in terms of City’s current right-back options.

Ruben Dias – 7

Rock solid at the back all afternoon, very little to write home about in terms of game-changing moments.

Manuel Akanji – 7

Similarly to Ruben Dias, it was a commendable showing from Manuel Akanji, as is usually the case. Alongside the rest of his defensive unit, a high rating for the clean sheet.

Josko Gvardiol – 7

Back into the left-back role for the Croatian and performing to a high standard once more. With a future more likely in the centre of the defence, was this a final farewell to the position?

Nico – 6.5

Once more, another strong performance from the Spaniard that makes you wonder why he hasn’t started more games for the club since January. Could have had a goal himself if it wasn’t for some excellent defensive work by Fulham.

Ilkay Gundogan – 9 (MOTM)

This was a true rolling back of the years from Ilkay Gundogan; shifting the ball on with pace, an eye for a forward pass, at the centre of our chance creation, magical inside the penalty area, and all this before we even mention the work to win a penalty and *that* overhead kick!

Omar Marmoush – 7

He’s just essential, really. At a time when many are calling out this Manchester City side for losing its energy, the Egyptian has brought that in abundance as well as a goal threat.

Bernardo Silva – 6.5

Nothing too much to write home about from Bernardo at Craven Cottage, but a strong performance nonetheless.

Erling Haaland – 7.5

A largely quiet afternoon for Erling Haaland, who really did find himself struggling to connect with Manchester City’s attacking phases of play. He did however seal the scoring with an expertly taken penalty to boost his ranking for us.

Jeremy Doku – 7

Much of Manchester City’s attacking threat came down the left and the Belgian also looked alive to counter-attacking possibilities. That final ball or eye for an effort himself really must improve though.

Substitutes

Savinho – 6

Nothing too much to mark for the Brazilian but a solid cameo appearance.

Phil Foden – No time to mark

Claudio Echeverri – No time to mark

Kevin De Bruyne – No time to mark

Ederson: Two good saves in the first half and one in the second to keep City ahead. If it is his final game for the club, a nice way to go. 7

Nunes: Played as well as he did in the week against Bournemouth but without the silly error. His effort brought the goal. 8

Dias: Not always in control but enjoyed enough of it to keep the clean sheet with Jimenez a frustrated figure. 7

Akanji: Made sure to put himself in the way of danger to keep Fulham at bay, with a couple of important blocks. 7

Gvardiol: Very comfortable charging up the field but also had Traore's number whenever the two went up against each other. 7

Gonzalez: More happy pushing forward than sitting back and looked to make things happen, although he tired in the second half. 7

Silva: Combined his recent role shielding the defence with being happy to sling crosses into the box. 7

Gundogan: What a goal! An excellent performance on top of that, working back to help the defence and linking with Haaland and Marmoush. 8

Marmoush: Lively and involved. Still feels like he has a bit too much energy but the greater control and efficiency looks like it is in his locker. 7

Doku: When he gets it right, he is unplayable. There's still too many times where something goes wrong for all the ball he gets though. 7

Haaland: Won some decent balls high up the pitch but the attacking threat in front of goal was never really there before the penalty. 6

Substitutes

Savinho (for Doku, 74) One dangerous ball across the box. 6

Foden (for Marmoush, 82) Forced his way into the box. 6

Echeverri (for Haaland, 85) Charged about up front. 6

De Bruyne (for Gundogan, 85) King Kev. 6

Ederson (7/10):

Produced some smart saves on the rare occasions Fulham managed to register some shots on goal. Even when slipping, his kicking was exemplary.

Matheus Nunes (7/10):

Ended the season with some more competent performances at right-back, and with Kyle Walker's return ruled out, can expect to continue there into the Club World Cup.

Ruben Dias (7/10):

A bright performance on and off the ball, spreading play with his excellent passing range and sweeping up in City's high line.

Manuel Akanji (7/10):

For the most part unbothered by the threat posed by Jimenez, and was never afraid to get touch-tight to his man.

Josko Gvardiol (6/10):

More proficient in the final third than in his own at the back. Would have been happy to see the back of creator-in-chief Wilson after his substitution early in the second half.

Nico Gonzalez (6/10):

Kept play ticking in the middle of the park on a rare start having been dropped from the line up in recent weeks.

Ilkay Gundogan (8/10):

The veteran midfielder rolled back the years here. Got on the scoresheet with an acrobatic overhead kick of a man half his age, before roaming into the Fulham box again and winning the penalty for Haaland to convert.

Bernardo Silva (6/10):

Like Gonzalez, was far from extravagant in a midfield battle that City easily won with their guile and technique.

Omar Marmoush (7/10):

Most of City's threatening moves seemed to involve Marmoush in some way or another, wreaking plenty of havoc in the Fulham penalty area.

Erling Haaland (7/10):

Didn't have too much to scream and shout about until the final 20 minutes when he was handed the chance to score from 12 yards, which he took calmly with a lovely rolled finish.

Jeremy Doku (6/10):

Threatened to create danger with his blistering pace and trademark trickery, though left you wanting more with a lack of end product.

Subs & Manager

Savinho (6/10):

On for Doku after City went two up.

Phil Foden (6/10):

Replaced Marmoush for the final 10 minutes.

Kevin De Bruyne (N/A):

Made his final appearance in a City shirt, coming on late in the day for Gundogan.

Claudio Echeverri (N/A):

Subbed on for Haaland.

Pep Guardiola (7/10):

City needed the final day to come with as little fuss as possible for them, and that it did with a professional performance.

Ederson-10/10: A brilliant performance from Ederson. He made several crucial saves, and he was at his best throughout today’s match.

Matheus Nunes-8/10: Nunes defended well and got forward well throughout today’s match. He has come out of this season with credit as his performance today showed.

Manuel Akanji-7/10: I thought Akanji played and defended well over the course of the full 90 minutes.

Ruben Dias-7.5/10: I thought Dias put in one of his better performances for some time. Made some crucial blocks

Josko Gvardiol-6/10: Not his best performance as he wasn’t at his best at left-back.

Nico-8/10: A superb performance from Nico. He helped dictate the midfield battle, and his performance today bodes well for next season.

Ilkay Gundogan-8/10: He scored the opener and won City’s penalty. I thought he was one of Manchester City’s best players on the day.

Bernardo Silva-7/10: Another tireless performance from Bernardo. Over the past two months he has been Manchester City’s best player in my opinion.

Omar Marmoush-6/10: Had oopportunities, but either his finishing was just off or his first touch.

Jeremy Doku-6/10:Had his moments but either his end product or decision-making was lacking. Those are the two areas of his play that he must improve upon for next season.

Erling Haaland-7/10: Converted a crucial penalty and did his job well at Craven Cottage.

Substitutes

Savinho-N/A: Not on long enough to mark.

Phil Foden-N/A: Not on long enough to mark.

Kevin De Bruyne-N/A: Not on long enough to mark.

Claudio Echeverri-N/A: Not on long enough to mark.
