Hi there, I have been following Jinyee's regimen since May 2013. Nothing can heal me. So i decided to go back to her regimen and give it another try. My face was so serious until every part of my face was covered with acne. but now, everything is not the same anymore. my face was 90% recovered, only left with some scars which i believe it will fade away. you can PM me for more information.
*
Good to know about that. At least this regimen helps.

Honest to God, hands on my heart, I need a quick advice on this; I promise you I am not a troll and I will not write in the Girl's section ever again. But I need advice. A good female fiend of mine booked a session for a chemical treatment on for her face that would make the skin peel off. It is going to cost her RM500+. 1st question: what on earth is this treatment? 2nd: will this work to remove those acne scars?? I cant believe there are people putting acids on a a girl's face and gets away with it. Is there not a law that say which cosmesis is legal etc? Should I advice her against this Acids scar your skin, right??
*
The AHA peeling (if thats what your female friend is using) is an old way of skin peeling. Basically the AHA damaged the epidermis and allow the bottom layer to surface. Once the new layer appeared, your previous scar will be lighter. One need a few round of peeling in order to really get significant result as we are dealing with skin surface damaging here.

Later part, the PHA peeling was introduced. Polyhydroxy Acids are Alpha Hydroxy Acids with multiple (i.e., poly) hydroxy groups on the molecule. The additional hydroxys attract water making PHA compounds more hydrating and moisturizing than conventional AHAs. PHA compounds are also antioxidant chelators that have been found to be gentle to skin without the stinging and burning that may accompany AHA use on sensitive skin.

i have a very bad acne scar (hole) in my face because before this almost 10 year i had acne in my face. And now i are quite busy to find a way to minimize the scar hole in my face. So, need recommendation from u all, what a treatment that should i get. And how about the cost is needed because im student, so budget also not much.. and anyone can suppose the place/dermotologist that provide the best service of this matter? TQ
*
To me the most basic way is to prevent new acne from forming. Hence, you need to maintain clear face (or not 90%) to allow the skin to rejuvenate itself. Note that the skin can repair itself during the course of time.

i am 22 years old, i have SEVERE acne for at least 6 years and is still counting, after taking 6 months of accutane treatment (antibiotics for acne patients), it is getting better, what is left now is the some new acnes, ACNE SCARS AND RED MARKS on my face. Somehow, i feel that is so annoying to me and it sometimes weaken my confidence and socialisation.

i have a few questions to ask:

1.is it COMPULSORY for acne patients to apply sunscreen everyday? ps: i am overly fair and i dont feel like applying sunscreen.

2.is it okay to apply moistiorizer and toner every night? My dermatologist advised me not to apply anything except for the acne cream (duac)

3.is there anyway to ease the red marks and acne scars?? (OTHER THAN doing laser treatment- i dont have the time and money)

thanks
*
(1) Normally for acne prone skin, you may opt for lotion based SPF rather than cream based. Anyhow, some of the moisturiser out there has SPF within, such as the Neutrogena Moisture SPF15 100ml.

(2) I can't comment on what your dermatologist has advised you. If you would have followed the recommended regimen, you may apply moisturiser upon BP application.

(3) Can try Elicina but you have to reduce your break out rate first. Just have a good skin foundation before you move on for red marks and scars solution.

Thanks.

Hi, Jinyee80.
I found this thread last year and tried following your regimen but failed since I sometimes forgot, busy or maybe way too lazy to apply BP + moisturizer, due to SPM exam stuffs here and there. I was worried that with such a little time 'wasted' from NOT doing any revision will affect my results and everything, so I decided to not to care too much about my looks and focus more on studies first. sweat.gif I developed acne at the age of 13, and most of my acne developed on my forehead due to my fringes/bangs. It's just way too terrible. Whatever products I used before doesn't seem to get rid of the acnes at all. Now that I'm in college, the needs to look good is getting higher than before and sometimes I feel like the pimples on my face are really affecting my confidence especially during presentation. Eventhough life is a little busier than how it was in high school, I decided this time I'll try again but with full dedication.

So, I have been following your regimen(again sweat.gif ) since 3-4 months ago. I started from using Cetaphil + Oxy5 + Neutrogena moisturizer for combination skin.
I feel weird or rather uncomfortable using Cetaphil - not because I'm allergic to it or anything.. It's just that when I put cetaphil, it feels like I put nothing but water on my face, making me feel like I didn't put any effort on recovering my face eventhough I did. Hahah but anyway, it works. Totally never skipped a day off the regimen, at all. The result are slow but my pimples are slightly lesser than before, and experiencing a little break out.

Then my bottle of Cetaphil and Oxy5 are used up, so I went to guardian to get some new one. But this time I finally found Benzac AC gel and replaced my cleanser thingy with Liquid Neutrogena pure mild, fragrance free. Guess what? After 1 week, I found that this solution works even better than the previous one. Totally unsure whether it's because I been constantly taking care of my face for months without skipping or it's because the new products that made my face recover even quicker?  rclxub.gif And the Benzac AC gel, it doesn't really dries up my skin so so so much compared to Oxy5. Almost a month after I bought them, my face is almost pimple-free and haven't experience any break out at all.

But seriously, Jinyee80.. I truly appreciate your work for sharing this thread. I have never felt even more confident in my life till now. Even taking even more selfies too. Haha rclxm9.gif  rclxms.gif
Now my next concern is how to get rid of pimple scars and pores on my face(too much tiny holes on T-zone), which I have no idea what article on google I could trust. rclxub.gif
Anyway, thank you so much! God bless! notworthy.gif
*
Benzoyl Peroxide is still the best solution for acne.

Oxy 5 may be too strong for most people. Benzac from Galderma is just right. Prior to Benzac, Panoxyl is also a great product but was stopped in Msia.

Good to know that you have great skin now. thumbup.gif

Is it okay to use Neutrogena oil-free moisture SPF15 at night time? Other than that, can you briefly help me the process of cleaning my face? ie. after cleansing my face i should apply the BP cream or toner or moisturiser first?

I only left with some acne so i think should be okay to try Elicina? Can i get this product in Guardian?
*
Neutrogena has another moisturizer for night one. Obviously you don't need SPF for evening session right?

After the basic cleansing, please pat dry, apply Benzac 2.5%. Let it dry then apply for moisturizer. Toner is optional here as it was not within the original regimen. Should you opt for toner, you may wana try out those toner which is alcohol free thus will not cause dryness on face. The idea is if after the toning activity, your face is left dry, you will need to apply moisturiser to keep it moist, what's the intention to use a toner then? blink.gif

You can google for elicina. It is not sold in local drugstores, have to get it online.

Thanks. Have a good day.

For me, these products really helps me a lot
1. Sebamed Foam Cleanser
most acne skin are caused by oily skin and foam cleanser are the best and most suitable facial cleanser for acne skin. Besides that, this Sebamed foam cleanser it pretty fun to use because you leave it for 5 minutes to let the foam do its thing and kill the bacteria on your face! yes kill! acne is caused by bacteria, impurities and all those pollutants so this foam helps in this area and the best part you can feel this little bubbles popping, it means the bacteria are dying!
[attachmentid=4074178]

next is Naruko Rose Water Toner[/SIZE] recommended by my friend and it has became my favourite toner ever since. Rose water has so much benefits (google it!) and this toner is very suitable for acne as it is astringent and it DOES NOT DRY OUT YOUR FACE. love the smell and it is  affordable too! love.
[attachmentid=4074190]

then is this Stieva A cream. this cream is the best for all those acne scars and it will leave your skin smooth again but this cream need to be use with your doctor advice or prescription
[attachmentid=4074192]

lastly, this holy grail, the Pobling Pore Cleanser]. I have so much blackhead around my nose and all those impurities around my Tzone that always cause me to breakout. Washing your face with this really helps a LOT and makes a lot of difference. Your face feels so smooth and using this, all those moisturiser and cream can be absorbed much more better! love it
[attachmentid=4074193]

hope this helps in your journey to get rid of acne as I was researching and exploring myself last time too and thank god my acne has tone down a lot.

btw if you are interested in getting the Pobling Pore Cleanser do check out [size=7]underonecloset

having special promo, selling for RM49 only for a limited time. Go get it while stocks last okay smile.gif

Stieva A is not recommended as its tretinione, aka Retin-A. It may cause skin sensitivity.

I have been using Cetaphil for about 3+ years. I used to have severe acne problems and it got cleared up quite alot. I never follow the regimen with BP or mosturizer. I only use T3 mycin clindamycin gel on the face acne (not the whole face). As of for now, I still do get some pimples ( about 1-5 ) occasionally and during menstrual cycle.
I have combination skin , normal on cheeks and oily on T-zone.

Here are a few questions that i would like to get advised on:

1) Is it possible to fully cure the acne on my face?

2) I don't know much about the face regimen, so I only applied T3 mycin as spot treatment. Will it be sufficient enough or I have to apply whole face?

3) Or is it preferable to use BP?

4) Recently, I have been using a mosturizer (brightening fluid) oil-free and light-weighted. It doesnt seems to be causing me more pimples, but should I switch to a normal mosturizer for time being?

5) Is there anything can be done with the post-acne scars (minor ice-pick) ?

6) If the skin has recover completely, is it necessary to continue the regimen ?

Thanks biggrin.gif

Just to answer your queries

(1) Is it possible to fully cure the acne on my face?
Cure is not the best word to describe. We called it prevention. Yes, you can. However, do expect occasional break out to about 1-2 pimples per month.

(2) I don't know much about the face regimen, so I only applied T3 mycin as spot treatment. Will it be sufficient enough or I have to apply whole face?
Only to acne prone area

(3) Or is it preferable to use BP?
I always recommend BP

(4) Recently, I have been using a mosturizer (brightening fluid) oil-free and light-weighted. It doesnt seems to be causing me more pimples, but should I switch to a normal mosturizer for time being?
If your skin is acne-free then means your skin is getting used to it. You may continue.

(5) Is there anything can be done with the post-acne scars (minor ice-pick) ?
Can try Elicina.

(6) If the skin has recover completely, is it necessary to continue the regimen ?
Yes. For prevention

Hi Jinyee,

Your recommended regime  Cetaphil + Oxy5 + Neutrogena moisturizer for combination skin, in which Cetaphil cleanser and Neutrogena moisturizer contains few parabens (methly and propyl parabens) and SLS.

These two chemicals are carcinogens and are the top 5 chemicals to avoid, any reasoning behind your recommendation?
*
My reason is very simple. It works for most people. Anyhow its still individual choice to opt for the regimen or not.

I don't sell these products nor I work for these products owner nor m i a dermatologist and paid for the recommendation. Best part I don't get donation upon my recommendation.

Try Cetaphil Lotion Moisturizing Lotion (night) or Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF15 (morning) or Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer.

The soap with sulfur helps in acne treatment!
Some information get from internet about how it works are as below

Why Sulfur Works & What it’s for Sulfur is gentle but effective. Unlike more drying agents like Benzoyl Peroxide, Sulfur acne spot treatments will not dehydrate skin and leave it further irritated. Instead, it works to remove excess shine, and over time, help heal existing breakouts for a brighter, clearer, and noticeably smoother complexion.
*
Not entirely true based on my experience, though you may quote success story from some research reports or articles. Yes, BP can be drying, however, it works on acne as it releases oxygen to counter P.acne bacteria which lives in anaerobic condition. The surviving condition for acne is eliminated.

Acne is formed mainly due to bacteria + excess sebum + dirt = perfect condition for the bacteria to survive. Salicylic Acid works for acne as well as it helps in eliminating the excess sebum.

Knowing BP is drying, most pharmaceutical firms added on moisturizer on the OTC BP. To some people, this may not sufficient, thus a moisturizer (especially in lotion form) is advised as we live in hot and humid environment which cream is not that suitable.

Just apply a thin layer of moisturizer. It will dry out faster.

You can use combination as highlighted above.

I'm 30+, breakout on forehead started a year ago, and it's only on forehead and right above my eyebrow. I have then change to use cetaphil cleanser and body shop tea tree oil, but it doesn't help. It's like little zits without any redness, I did try nizoral, but it doesn't improved.Recently even worse, it suddenly become big red acne and itchy. I went to see doc and he gave me accutane and some antibiotics cream, I just applied the cream without taking the accutane because I'm afraid if there's any side effect. Please advise whether I should try to apply BP? Thanks
*
You need BP, as Cetaphil is meant to cleanse the skin, and prepare it for the next step, which is the OTC treatment. Try not to take those oral antibiotic as it controls your hormone, as in some cases, the acne was not due to hormone but rather skin care products.

I don't call mine a breakout/acne. It's just oily bumps and blackhead/Whitehead and occasional blemishes redness on T zone. The bumps are as small as a dot but many. Is BP still necessary?

Thanks,

Yes BP will help because acne started to form when bacteria+dirt+sebum oil. Perfect breeding space!

Hi jinyee80 ,

at night, i put benzac at my acne area. Then from your post, you advice to put also moisturizer. The problem is, whenever i put moisturizer  and rub it at my face, it will mix with the benzac. Hence, the benzac is kinda everywhere over my face. Is that the correct way to apply moisturizer on top of benzac? Or I should pat pat pat the moisturizer at my face?

One more question, how to reduce acne marks / scar? I read few review about Hiruscar Post Acne and seems it works wonderful with the acne marks (redness dot dot dot). What is your opinion about it?

Acne marks that i am referring is to yang ada tompok2 acne marks tu. Not the parut yg takde dot dot merah (had to type in bahasa malaysia to easily explain). hehe

thanks!
*
(1) Once you apply BP, you allow it to dry before you apply moisturizer. Moisturizer only applies if you stay in air-cond area most of the time, otherwise you could skip this. Thin layer of moisturizer will do.

(2) Lets not talk about scar reduction before you could prevent new acne from forming. We have so many scar healing ointment/creams/lotion out there but some may aggravate acne. As long as its not the ice-pick scars, it kind of easier to deal with.

Thanks.

Although it contains more than 1 active ingredient, which is 1 mg (0.1 %) adapalene that may possibly cause dryness or/and irritation, you may try as I saw glycerin as one of the ingredients as well.

In the past (if you follow this thread's old posts), some may claim that the daily facial cleanser is too dry as compared to the basic gentle cleanser. Anyhow, you could still opt for the daily facial cleanser if its suitable to you.

Thanks.
