hi again jinyee, just asking - what would be the best procedure to undergo for minor scars that do not leave pitted holes (ie. microdermabrasion, phototherapy et al) ? and do u recommend any places that offer it in kl city? much obliged~
*
Well, minor scars, you do not require to go for those expensive therapy. Just consume some collagen and let your skin to heal by its own. I saw Total Image collagen is quite affordable. So, let it works from inside out. Going for therapy really risk your skin as normally for shallow scars, dermatologists will prefer cheaper alternative but charge you skyhigh, its glycolic acid peel with different percentage from 30%-70%, otherwise they will either go for salicylic acid or lactic acid peel which I consider its yet still unstable for acne skin. Thats why my point is always gentle and mild to the skin, rather than using aggressive treatment which may let you see significant result one-off but who knows the outcome might be destructing.

Anyway, always bear in mind. Mild and gentle, and patient wink.gif

Hi Jin yee,
Since you recommend cetaphil and neutrogena cleaser for acne skin which is more effective? cause i have both..
*
I would prefer Cetaphil, but some people claim that their skin is oily and would expect a 'clean' feeling, so liquid neutrogena is not a bad alternative as well. But, I do prefer Cetaphil more.

By the way, Merry Christmas everyone!

Sorry for all, late reply, just came back from a Christmas vacation on London, visiting my mum over there.

hey jinyee,

i heard by consuming Vitamin E can eventually help with skin condition? is that true?
*
Yes, vitamin E does help. But eventually if over consume, it will retain in your body and cause a lots of burden to your liver and kidney. It is not water soluble, thats why it will retain in your body.

QUOTE(nicKit @ Dec 26 2006, 03:51 PM)
jinyee,

my cetaphil is running low n i couldn't find it near my area... if i use neutrogena cleanser, would it be ok if i switch from cetaphil n neutrogena back n forth depending on market stock?

thanks.
nicKit.
*
Yes, I don't think its a problem if you concurrently use Neutrogena cleanser should you have suddenly run out of Cetaphil. My advice is that, when the pharmacies were doing sales, grabbed and stocked more than one Cetaphil, because the price will be cheaper and sometimes you might get free gift such as face towel.

QUOTE(bumpyboozz @ Dec 27 2006, 10:30 AM)
dear jin yee,

i've finally bought the two items...yesterday was my first time using it...after applying the panoxyl,i felt itchiness n the next day the pores r freaking big..can u help me with this?

thanks a lot..smile.gif
*
Its normal because it lets the skin to breathe and bring in sufficient oxygen to kill P.acne bacteria. Anyway, its a temporary condition, should your skin has settled down, you would not feel the itchness anymore. My advice is that, please apply Panoxyl once per two nights to build up the tolerance towards BP.

hi again jinyee,

sorry 2 ask during such a festive occasion but where can i purchase total image collagen? thanks and have a happy new year!

You could find it at Watsons or Guardians. I believe Watsons is doing promotion of this item. Just go to the counter and enquire from the salesperson. They would be willing to help you to get the item.

Should the result is good, I think you should maintain it. I actually come to a situation where customers phoned me saying that the medication that the doc or beauticians provided were good but unfortunately there were too costly.

So, I would advice them to switch on this regimen not because of the ineffectiveness of their previous regimen but due to their financial affordability.

My regimen is simple and affordable. Especially guys, they claimed that my regimen is an easy and go.=)

Anyway, just stay put to your current regimen should you would like to. To be honest, switching skin products too often will harm the skin.

Well, occassionally pop-up is usual.

Concealer might work, but I rarely recommend it because most of the concealer intends to 'hide' the acne away rather than curing it while conceal it.

I don't think Body Shop has a range of good make up product for this. Why not you go for Clinique because they have good cosmetic products specializing to acne.

I am currently using Bobbi Brown cosmetic. But I rarely use them, only on big occassion that requires me to stand under the limelight. Normally during working hour, I only apply eye lash and apply lip gloss. That's all.

but if the doctor gives u oral medication, it usually is Accutane. which has alot of side effects
*
From my experience and discussions with several dermatologists before, normally they will prescribe you other alternative such as tetracycline or doxycycline before they go to the final choice, which is Accutane. So, if your dermatologist prescribed you accutane, you should always enquire whether do your skin condition really requires accutance.

For your info, Accutane will only be prescribed should you have serious acne problem.

Hi Guys..

Well I'm another depressed acne victim.. cry.gif
Jinyee80 kudos to you! very well governed forum gurl..sure helps the acne needy ones like me  rclxms.gif

I've been suffering from acne since highschool..i've tried all kinda skin regimens but nuthing helped me.. But to think of it, Maybe I wasnt doing it right!!
Anyway i've made that my resolution for dis coming year thumbup.gif To Have Healthy Skin! I think healty skin is what makes u look great! Who needs make up!

I've decided to pick up a gud skin regiment..and follow it religously dis time!

my skin is a combination skin..rather oily on my t-bone area.. and rather dry on my cheeks and the rest of the face.. I feel i've got really dull skin and it makes me look so old tho i'm only a yippie 21 year old! my acnes are not the really reddish severe big ones.. but i get atleast one pimple one day..lol and the pimple have left so many open visible pores on my face sad.gif making me look like a haget with lotsa valleys on the surface...

so what do u suggest? i need sumthing to stop from any more pimples popping! to give my skin a supple surface and not the dry one i have.. and to make all the pores that crowd my face dissapear!!

help anyone? icon_question.gif

First of all, the continuosly break out is due to unhealthy skin, which residue cannot be automatically being disposed by your skin, it ownself.

From the beginning, I was all these while promoting, emphasizing on the combination of a mild cleanser and an over-the-counter product. I never encourage applying unnecessary skin products which might burden your skin, making it tedious hence popping out a lots of blemishes.

Mild cleanser did not irritate the skin, did not contains fragrance, and ingredients that might aggravate the growth of acne. After your skin has been well cleansed, proceed for the OTC product to focus on the root of the problem.

I highly recommended Benzoyl Peroxide(BP) as P.acne bacteria can only survive under a non-oxygen environment. So, by using BP, it releases oxygen into the clogged pores which P.acnes survives and there it goes. After the bacteria was eliminated, your skin will repair itself and gradually the acne will be less visible. It tooks approx. 2-3 days for the acne to heal. Quite fast right?

Well, many people posted in this thread, asking me what regimen suits them. I will definately suggest my regimen again and again. Some might think that I should formulate a unique regimen for oneself rather than a general one because everyone is having different acne problems. Some might due to unproper usage of skincare products, some due to hormones and etcetra.

Anyway, this regimen is general and is applicable to ANY acne condition. Financially, its affordable. Conveniently, its fast and easy-to-go. Effectively, it works charm but you might need to be patient to see significant result. Take note that acne has 28 days of cycle. Lets say when you start my regimen and suddenly there's a lots of acne popped out, this was because your acne was there even before you started the regimen. It just popped out so coincidently with the time you start my regimen. So, some of them felt sceptical and depressed, moving on to try other regimens.

Bear in mind that frequently changing the skin products will end up creating more severe problems to your skin. Your skin did not has sufficient time to suit the products. Some people might only need 1-2 weeks, some might need 1 months and so on. Therefore, patient is the key, you will see results, I mean improvement within 2.5months.

So, for your problem, I think my regimen would works great for you. Anyway, I am all these while promoting that the skin has its own rejuvenation abilities. Due to certain reasons such as pollution or unappropriate usage of products, you end up with blemishes and remain flaw. Therefore, with a mild regimen, it gives the skin the chance to rejuvenate and revitalize its ownself.

Just like what you said, who needs make-up? Your skin can work by its own. Just itself and yourself a chance. By using Cetaphil, your skin will remain smooth and definately pores will be smaller and helps to keep you out from acne.

Happy New Year!

Love,
Jinyee

since your help so many ppl get out of acne..count me in ok??hehe:P
actually my acne always pop out..my malay fren said my acne is inside..and need to do 'resdung'. but i never try before.
i am very disappointed to my skin..because whatever product i use, all useless.. so can u recommend some?
my acne is come from inside my skin.if it no come out i will feel like no pain no feel but got feel like acne when touch by finger. sometimes it will pop out and it will be pain lo. sometimes no pop out it will stay there until it pop out.. this make my face not smooth...
you have any opinion??
thanks~
*
This is because your skin can shed off its own residue. Thereby, it happens that you encounter such a condition.

Well, try my regimen. It will help. No resdung stuff. I believe more towards the scientifical solution. You pinpoint the root of problem and counter on it.

Good luck!

Hi... I've been sticking to the regime for about 2 months now.... I notice that the acne heals faster... but they still come out... Never stop....

I think it's because of the blackheads / whiteheads... because I notice after all my acne healed, then left scars only... then the whitehead spot became pimple..... any solution to this...??

Can I use the St.Ives Medicated Apricot Scrub for Acne Skin?
*
Yes, it still comes out. Thereby I always advise people to be patient, because acne normal cycle is 28 days. So, currently your skin is disposing all the acne out, then after 2.5 months, which is more than 28days, you would not probably see many new acne popping out.

Please do not use St.Ives, it irritates the skin. Stay put and be patient.

QUOTE(JeslynLee @ Jan 4 2007, 01:21 PM)
where to get regime?what is regime actually..
*
I think what you meant is 'regimen' right? It is actually a range of product that you can use to focus on certain problem.

Please read the thread from the beginning to know what is included in the regimen and how to use it.

My regimen is:

CETAPHIL + NOTS ( Currently due to unavailability of NOTS, PanOxyl is the substitute ).

QUOTE(Irresistible @ Jan 4 2007, 01:26 PM)
Dear Jinyee :

Whats your opinion about Eucerin product ?? It claim it care for sensitive skin..
Watson got promotion !! tongue.gif
*
Eucerin always include lactic acid in its product. I don't think it suits you. Lactic acid might irritate skin though its BHA.

QUOTE(bleachzrockz @ Jan 4 2007, 05:04 PM)
jinyee80,

i've tried your regimen lik u said..my acne showed some improvement.however, the redness of the post-acne persisted(for a long time),sometimes over 2months,any solution to these?

btw,rite now i m using cetaphil cleanser,followed by differin(on-the-spot treatment),then finally cetaphil moisturiser
*
Ok, using differin is ok. As long as you don't feel it irritates the skin.

For redness, which is also called us hyperpigmentation. It will heal by its own. Normally it will take at least a year to diminish. So be patient. While trying to lessen the visibility of the scar, you need to maintain your skin so that less new acne was formed, otherwise you will be filling in water into a pail with a hole at the bottom, end up doing redundant job.

Hi .JinYee.
How many times should i wash my face by using Cetaphil?
My house doesn't have air cond so quite hot. I have used Cetaphil for 2.5 months but my face still non-stop pop out acne and it causes a lot of red mark and scars. Could you suggest what should i do?

many thanks.
*
Twice per day. I think for your case, its acne due to hormones changes. You should visit dermatologist so that they will prescribe you antibiotics. Keep me up to date on the medication that the dermatologist prescribed to you should you visit the clinic.

any1 would do as long as it is suitable for combination skin lik mine(oily at T-zone,dry and sensitive at cheeks),my main objective is to make my pores smaller and less blackhead(my nose are bombarded wif blackheads)
*
Then, for beginner stage, I would prefer you for using the peel-off one. Hisatmitsu came out with varioys peel-off mask. Initially, you should select the gentle type 1st, rather than the whitenning and whatever one.

Normally what people use to reduce pores size is salicylic acid, which it is widely used in Neutrogena pore refining. Salicylic acid might irritates your skin, so I dun really recommend it.

Its normal. Anyway, apply a little and evenly over your face. Should you are not exposed to air-cond environment I dun think you are required to apply the moisturizer.

Initially, there is no cure for acne. You could only prevent it. Can't really recommend local dermatologist for you because from my point of view, I dun have any good candidates.

Organic Aloe Vera is good, its soothing but since its raw, therefore, the exposure to the bacteria is higher and it might irritate skin. I don't mean tha natural stuff is not good, but I will not recommend it should it is not handle professionally.
