Dear 1.8L Elantra Owners,
Do you guys having the problem of crankling sound from engine compartment?

What is the problem with my car? There is loud enough crankling sound from engine compartment when engine reach 1400 RPM. It must be 1400 RPM to hear the crankling sound.. as long as the RPM is as 1400 RPM, I will hear the sound.. Switch off aircon, sound no more...

I got my 1.8L Elantra 2 months ago, I sent my car back to 3S Centre 3 times already to fix the crankling sound from engine compartment. They even changed my Air Con compressor with warranty claim, the problem still exist. The mechanic drove another 1.8L Elantra together with me today, we heard the same crankling sound as well.

After an hour of waiting at 3S Centre today, the service agent told me, "this is expected and normal".... LOL.. I bought a Proton Elantra at Hyundai..?

There is another spring noise coming from seat belt pole of left passenger side. Fixed 3 times already, I still hear the spring noise today...

Hi Guys,

My 1st post, I have been driving my 2013 1.8 elantra for over 4 mths now - basically I love it - things i like most is -quiet cabin and electric powered driver seat - man the seat is awesome. thumbup.gif The engine performance is okay too and FC is not bad.

My only complaint is - how the car handle road roughness - to specific potholes, if you drive fast even over a small holes - you can feel as if your wheel are coming off.  So I am thinking of changing my shock absorber - question - anybody here has done this, will it help? Thank you for sharing.

Do you hear crankling sound from engine compartment when driving in between 1400rpm and 1500 rpm? The aircon must be on to hear this...

Finally, I got the thing fixed at outside air-con shop on Friday. It's the belt that hitting the engine when RPM reaches 1400-1500RPM. The crankling sound no more after tighten the belt to the right tension.
