Dear Elantra owners,

May i check if anyone has experienced jerky transmission during low rpm (1-2k) and low speed (20-40 kmh) e.g. slow traffic during jam? The jerk is subtle and something like transmission hesitation. The issue is irregular so it is very difficult to tell the SA. Sometimes, it happened early in the morning, sometimes when the engine is hot (1hr drive or more).

My elantra has been having this problem recently. Sent to Glenmarie few times but problem persists.

They changed spark plugs and tuned to factory but problem persists irregularly.

Appreciate your inputs on how to solve this. Thanks.

@laurateoh, any feedback on this? since you're our sales specialist, it'll be good if you have a feedback on this. I am also having this jerkiness issue when i brake towards coming to a standstill. you can feel it jerks quite moderately when it approaches a full stop.

someone mentioned a smell issue also when air con runs (mine happens really randomly, but yes the smell is foul), which i do experience also. has anyone rectified that?

i was also told by one of the SC in Melaka that Iridium spark plugs are not suitable for Elantra. Can someone tell me more?

can someone also tell me what's the latest price for Michelin PS3 for 16" rims? Hyundai Elantra 2016 btw.

My elantra has been having difficulty to start for quite sometimes. I need to press twice the start button, the first one wouldn't start the car. From the google I realize this is throttle body issue. Need some cleaning.

Yesterday I DIY throttle body cleaning. There're only four screws to remove . I did not completely remove the throttle body as there are two tubes attached. I only detached it from the air inlet off the engine.
I sprayed throttle body special cleaning agent thoroughly inside and outside, then I used dry kitchen tissue papers to wipe all the black dirts. I make sure I didn't wipe it too hard as it may destroy any sensors there. Anyway the throttle shines well.

However after I put all back together and started the car, the check engine light was came on the dashboard panel. This might be a false alarm because the cleaning involved moving the throttle plate. But it might also be the real problem to the throttle position sensor (TPS).

To clear this issue, I reset the check engine light by took out the negative cable off the main battery and touch it to the positive battery cable. This will confirm if there is indeed a problem to TPS, in which the check engine light will remain there on the dashboard panel even after resetting.

Indeed it was a false alarm, the check engine light went off after I reset it.  biggrin.gif

No idea wor. Those who change sendiri pick n choose their own.
I guess u have to decide which tickles your fancy and suits your budget more.
Please note that modification done during warranty period will void the warranty for that part and related parts too, so PLEASE be careful NOT to cut wiring.

Hey Laura, regarding the HU: my Elantra is year 2016 model and same as the guy before me, I am also having hard time with my HU. I would like to change it, but when you mention void warranty for that part and related parts, what are these parts are we actually talking about?
If i come to Glenmarie for appointment to fix new HU, can do for me? biggrin.gif

warranty void for the player + reverse camera (if u have this) + wiring (if wires are cut)

sorry, sime darby wont help u do things that could void your warranty. u have to do it outside at your own risk...

*some owners have changed their players without any headache. u just need to find a good shop/installer  tongue.gif

hey guys, wanna ask about 205/55/R16 tyres.

Did anyone tried:
1) Michelin PS3/4? How's road noise? Wear/tear? Wet grip?
2) Michelin Primacy 3? How's road noise? Wear/tear? Wet grip?

I'm using Bridgestone RE003.  Better handling, safety as priority (and cheaper).
Noice never an issue to me.

funky tires yo! how much did you purchase? Will consider it's current/successor in the future.

anyway for MELAKA people/Malaccans, Soon Jaya (Falken signboard) in Malim offers:
1) Michelin XM2 for RM330 per pop
2) Michelin Primacy 3 ST for RM340 per pop

Both 205/55/R16.
