Anyone here installed component speakers? How did you deal with the tweeter cover without holes?

Hi all, my Elantra’s steering always skew to left during Low speed. It get better when speed increasing but will not meet the exactly center. Example, the steering pointing at  10:30am on clock at Low speed then move to 1130am or 1145am when speed increased to 80km/h. I have went to a few workshops, changed the absorber, lower control arm’s bush but none works. The workshops also can’t find the root cause therefore the car steering with skewing to left for a few years. Nothing wrong with tyre nor alignment as tyre switch can’t help too. Anyone has this experience please advise and I will appreciate your sharing...

Sounds like a ball joint issue to me. Did you change just the lower arm bushing or the whole lower arm? There are 2 bushings & 1 ball joint per lower arm. Another cause might be your tyres. Any uneven wears on your tyres? Are any of your tyres having different brands & threads?

I changed the lower arm bushing and not sure about the ball joint. Didn’t change the whole lower arm. Tyres no problem as went for tyres shop for check. they can’t identify the problem. After the alignment, steering still skew to left.

Since you crashed through potholes before, suspect might your lower arm problem. Most likely cause is:
1. Lower arm bend or ball joint loose
2. Tyre thread not same for left and right (since you checked with tyre shop, you can rule this out)
3. Check if any of your brake caliper is stuck. Does your car skew when braking too?

Other possible causes:
1. Wheel bearing is dragging
2. Broken engine mounting, causing torque steer as drive shaft will spin faster on 1 side
3. Drive shaft is tight on 1 side. Does your car knock when you turn the steering?
4. ABS system kacau. Go to workshop scan for error codes. Possibly wheel speed sensor broken too

Hi guys, recently anyone changed your clock spring? May I know how much is it include labor.
*
Some owners went back to service center RM350-400 inclusive of labor. I changed mine few months ago, bought from Lazada RM100+ for genuine part and DIY myself haha.
Did your airbags light come on or steering wheel control not working?

mine is airbags light come on.
Ya, i did saw lazada selling cheap and said is genuine. Not sure reliable or not. Do you think outside workshop can do it?
if yes, i may buy it and let workshop change it.

I think any workshop or accessory shop should be able to do it. If you're comfortable, you can refer to YouTube for guidance. That's what I did thumbup.gif

Thinking about buying a used 15 or 16 elantra

I admit my understanding of korean cars from listening to those old uncles.

How true is the claim that hyundai cars are expensive to maintain? Are spare parts readily available? and are normal workshops able to work on them?
*
Normal service for oil change, I would say it's similar to Japanese car. Oil change for fully synthetic can be done RM100+
Personally I'm using Shell Helix Ultra, same as what service center is using. You can get it online or from Tesco during promotion.

For spare part wise, after market parts are readily available. Pricing are very similar to Japanese rivals.

If you plan to go for original OEM parts, you'll be surprised that Korea original parts are much cheaper than Japanese original parts.
Besides, I can tell you that there are a lot of "fake" Honda and Toyota parts out there with fake original packaging. Not so much for Korean cars, maybe the demand is not that high, so no one are counterfeiting Korean spare parts yet tongue.gif

Thanks for the info.

Are your run of the mill neighborhood workshop able to work on them or do they require specialist workshops or official service centers?
*
Any workshop should be fine. You can Google around for Korean car specialist as well if you like. Korean car are very similar in design as compared with Japanese and local cars. Front wheel drive, McPherson struts, engine layout etc.

I have changed my absorber and engine mounting. I bought online and took it to normal workshop to replace it. They did it just fine biggrin.gif
