Batt3 changeover tip : Start engine b4 start 2disconnect ole batt3... Keep engine running while replacing with new batt3... Turn off engine only when changeover completed... Why? Eliminate effects/changes to ECU/TCU/Radio/etc Settings possibly caused by electrical supply cutoff during changeover... True? Anyway, in my case 2day, it worked!! Note : Abv was done (& explained 2me) by Tyre/Batt3 Shop boss... |

QUOTE(bo093 @ Jan 10 2014, 12:38 AM) Just make sure when doing it, doesn't damage the ecu/tcu. Hi Bro... Can do, but the chance of damaging it is higher. Told by my 40+ years of experience lecturer in automotive. Yup, there's that risk... However, me was caught unaware of that procedure tho... Happy now nothing went wrong lo... ps. Mayb it's ok as long as engine is juz idling...lower risks? QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jan 10 2014, 02:04 AM) this. because car battery serves as a cushion/regulator on electrical spikes produces from the alternator. Hi Bro... best way? have the engine off, have a spare battery, hook it up with your car +/- cables using extra cable/clamps (onto the existing car +/- cables), proceed the replacement - voila no radio/ecu data wiped pros: less risk cons: you, or your workshop you visit require a spare battery lying around and 2 additional cable/clamps (most cars have jumper cables in their trunk, no?) Good suggestion there! TQ! However, wonder how many shop owners/staff wld follow such a procedure... To do ourselves, we wld need a spare batt3... Or at least a fren's car to "jump but not start" with...? |

Note to all :
When me told Tyre/Batt3 Shop owner that my Ori Ramcar batt3 oledi almost 3yrs old but still ok, he told me QUOTE "most batt3 in NEW cars wld last longer than than usual bcos every system in the cars are functioning well! So less strain & bad effects on the batt3... As the cars age, batt3 fitted wld not last that long liao..." Any truth in that? All views & comments are most welcomed.. TQVM in adv. |

QUOTE(mat79 @ Jan 14 2014, 05:37 PM) same like collapsible steering column which being incorporated since waja n its the base for every prtn since waja,no need to put that in. coz the higher the marketing cost,it will absorb to the cost of the car. so need to be prudent enough. prtn isnt selling car at the same volume as others. Do we really hv that feature in our present Sagas (BLM/FL/FLX/SV)? Mayb it's such an old (ancient, perhaps) feature that P1 felt not even worth mentioning? My old old VW 1300 Beetle in the late 60s oledi hv that feature!! QUOTE(dares @ Jan 14 2014, 05:58 PM) On the issue of the collapsible steering column, P2 does show it on their Myvi brochure, that's why ppl think Myvi is safer than Gaga. I didn't even knew this feature existed on Proton cars before you posted it just now. Hi Bro... And if a normal customer go to both P1 and P2 showroom and compare the brochures for gaga and Myvi, he/she won't want to buy a Gaga. That's why I say P1 marketing fails like nobody else. To a discerning buyer, safety features in car they buy means alot nowadays...in view of traffic density & risks on roads... This post has been edited by zeone: Jan 14 2014, 07:02 PM |

QUOTE(mat79 @ Jan 14 2014, 09:13 PM) hi mr zeone,as i mentioned earlier, its a standard or common, yup in any prtn made car. but in malaysia, the thing still sell by thd feedback cuz we dont really have a strict body to govern on auto related development. Many tks, Bro mat79, 4yr kind response 2my post! even some r still reluctant to meet unece r94 n 95 rules unless when they release new model or facelift. thats why when read closely, many new model n facelift,in the report, news especially paultan,u will see the word this car or mpv meet unece r 94 n 95. start with almera n even facelift livina also they mentioned it cuz previously not following the standard :-),being exempted. since last year,it bcnme mandatory. this year, dual airbags.. but i think shud upgrade it. not only airbags, but more than 50 homogolation, then others will have to send their euro version car n engine :-), Frankly, me hv read yr posts off & on in here as well as other p1 discussion threads... May I commend yu 4yr sincere views & comments re probs & issues/items of interest brought up by users/owners of P1 vehicles... IMHO yu are a rare breed in these modern times & thus is like a fresh breeze rarely experienced fr car makers... On behalf of all who hv gained fr yr clarifications & "revelations", i TQvM !! Keep up the good work, pls!! |

QUOTE(kenjilew @ Jan 22 2014, 09:01 AM) Hi Bro... Here it's abt RM20 first time replace...then RM5 per refill if necessary...(5+ yrs ago?) Frankly speaking...nitrogen as produced by those machines? Not much different...it's not pure nitrogen lo... Usually 80+ to 90+% depending on efficiency of chemicals used... Some shop machines give as low as 80+% due 2cut cost poor maintenance/replacement if chemicals... Nitogen % in Air (78-79%) & fr the machine only small % diff.. So only main advantage is longer retention of gas pressure due2 slower loss of gas... Useful more perhaps by airplanes & F1 cars? At very high speeds? Possibly helps maintain pressure in yr car tyres since yu now in2 track & speedfest comp? For the normal car user, nope...except 4that 1 small convenience... Inconvenience? Biggest is hv 2find a shop with that machine. ..not many elsewhere besides KL area? And if yu go2 other shops (not yr usual) charges are higher 4refills! Moreover, Air is FREE!
