Hi guys, this will be my first time to submit tax. Got few questions here:

1) I lost my EA form, can I get it online? Or must request from company again? tongue.gif

2) I bought a laptop last month, can I claim it? (RM1.5k only)

3) Self is Christian actually, every month got some "contribution" to my church, roughly 10% of salary/mth. Can I claim it under "donation/gift"? I got the receipt every month

Hope to hear from you all soon

Regards.

1. Get from your company. You can't get it online.

2. Laptop bought in year 2014, can only claim in tax submission for year 2014. Currently I assume you are doing tax submission for year 2013. Keep this to submit next year.

3. Check the receipt to see if it's stated there "tax deductible". Otherwise, clarify with your church.

Just clarify with your church. If I'm not mistaken, they have to be registered with the gov to be able to be tax deductible or something. Those famous NFP organizations usually will advertise donating to them is tax deductible and they will issue us a receipt clearly saying "For tax purposes". laugh.gif

Hi, currently i'm working oversea, but i own properties which rented out. Can these expanses (ie, assessment and quit rent, interest on loan and fire insurance premium, expenses on rent collection, expenses on rent renewal, expenses on repair and service charges, etc) allow deduction from rental income?

Thanks

There is a list of allowable expenses, not everything can be deducted out from your rental income. I remember there was a write up in the newspaper about this some time back. Will post here if I can find it.

But generally we deduct assessment, quit rent, repairs, insurance, etc. If not mistaken, the cost incurred to secure the tenant cannot be deducted, i.e. advertising, agent commission, etc.

Hi i moved this from another thread to here, deleted ori. Need advise from sifus here. Sorry in advance for noob questions.

I register new enterprise/sole proprietor 9 months ago- deposited rm2K to start Maybank account and checkbook. The thing is i set this up for non-profit, So over the 9 mths i have received over rm150k from various ppl and companies. But i have paid out my friends who helped me (as consultants, contractors, etc) leaving my bank acct balance around rm8k (incl the rm2k i deposited).

Can someone advise me how do i go abt with income tax? I've read in other threads to pay IRB no matter what and to pay income tax since being new business set up bla bla. Ok its good advise but in my case do i only declare the rm6K as profit or how much? And do I need to show IRB the proof I've paid out to my friends, purchase stationery, travel, etc?

TQVM

You might want to pay/consult an accountant to help you with this.

Yes, you will need proof if IRB checks you. Proof for the expenses paid. And also not everything you paid out are deductible from your profit.

You are only needed to pay tax starting 2014 right? Just fill up 2014 assessment next year before end April.
