i have one question here:

last year i appealed on one of penalty they impose on me due to late submission. at the end, they agreed to reduce the penalty amount by XX%.

however, this amount is not physically refund back to me but appeared as "credit" item in my tax ledger, i.e., they own me this amount of $$.

is there anyway to get back this money from them? i notice there is no column in the e-filing to claim refund from them.

anyone else can provide some advise here?
leave it to next year filing obviously won't solve the issue since i will face the same issue next year, i.e., tax filing fprm do not have any section for us to fill in to claim back the outstanding money from tax dept.

best to assume the dateline of e-filing is at the end of this month. rather than assume they will extend.

2 years ago, i owned lhdn "X" amount of money according to my tax ledger.
when i submit tax returned, i was entitled to some refund in that year filing.
lhdn at the time deducted "X" and refund the balance to me (the refund amt in my tax filing is > "X" amount)

as for this year, lhdn owned me "Y" amount of money according to my tax ledger b'cos my appeal against the fine was partially successful.
simlar, my entitled to some refund in my this year tax filing.
however, lhdn only refund the amount of refund in my current year tax return and this "Y" amount remain appeared in my tax ledger as it is. doh.gif

sigh so confusing doh.gif

the worse part is the date, 15/02/2015.
to me, NOTHING to do with my 2014 tax also doh.gif

i illustrated with example, hope it is clearer...this are example only.

year 2012

tax ledger: i owned ihdn RM500 due to penalty for late submission
tax filing of 2012: i entitled to get refund of RM1,000 for the year 2012

so, at the end, lhdn refund the RM500 to me (RM1,000 - RM500)
tax ledger balance become zero.

year 2014

tax ledger: lhdn owned me RM200 because they reduce the amount of penalty impose earlier
tax filing of 2014: i entitled to get refund of RM1,000 for the year 2014 filing.

at the edn, lhdn refunded 1,000 back to me only.
the RM200 remain in tax ledger and they do nothing about it.

the figure above is only illustrative.

i see.

however afaik lhdn/myself don't owe each other anything.
it would be nice if this "ledger" thingy is being communicated more clearer sad.gif

calling them also does jack shit as the line is forever engaged/busy

u can pay them a visit.
but my experience with them is that they can be nasty....dig back our old records and check if there anything wrong in past records, late submission etc....so, no easy to get money back from them but depends on which officer that u deal with. sweat.gif

so, overall better to just lose that hundred ish, than to deal with potential hassle la?  unsure.gif

i merely related back to my experiences.
who knows that i was the only unlucky one or
ending up as u are the only lucky one.

what i am trying to say is that u have to be careful in dealing with lhdn officer.

if we have lots of outstanding money owing by lhdn in our tax ledger, then of course need to do something about it lar. if small amount, then u may leave it as it is....or else u can check with your hr first as suggested by someone here.
