That means for YA2018, no more SSPN contribution tax relief of RM6k ?... time to withdraw/close account.

The T&C is written to "scare" you... It can be closed rather easy because "they" are lazy

Guys, if I get equity/cash via work done outside my employment, do I have to declare this as "chargable income"? Can someone advice what are the tax/legal implications especially if I were to open an offshore account (any recommendations?).

Thanks.

Employment income tax filing has ended.

Even for those with business income also over.

You may need to file next year.

All under e-filing now.
*
QUOTE(Mollai @ Jul 12 2014, 07:52 PM)
You need to go to your nearest LHDN office, and the officer there can help you set up the login and with password.

Then you would need to log in to do e-filing. Basically just fill up the details in EA form, and any deductions you would like to claim.

But as per above, the filing period is over.

Did your company did any PCB deductions from your salary?
*
Though it's over, I would also want to learn more. @David, if all are under e-filing, does that mean even for the first time to declaration I don't need to go to any office to 'start an account'?

Or is it as @Mollai said, for first timers
1) Go to LHDN to 'start an account'
2) Go online for e-filing
3) Fil up the EA form

And @Mollai, what is PCB? I truly know nuts about income tax, hence I am seeking advice.

If your company has helped you to open an income tax file account with LHDN, then you can save a lot of travelling time. Your EA form should have this info. Otherwise, you need to start from there.

If you have an account, then you can request e-filing access online.

EA form is a guide to assist you with the filing.

PCB is potongan cukai berjadual; it's a monthly deduction from your salary by your employer to LHDN.

Patience, check your payslip and see whether your company did deductions for income tax.

EA form is given to you by your employer early of the year, that indicates how much was your annual salary paid, and total EPF. So you use this information to do efiling.

Btw, is your income in the taxable category?

I don't see any income tax deductions on the payslip

Mine is about 2.5k nett monthly (if I don't any medical leave)

EA form was given to me around February this year, I think that was it. But I lost it now, will check with HR if I can get another copy just for reference.

As attached is my payslip with personal info removed. Am not sure what are the taxable category. Still a young fellow learning biggrin.gif notworthy.gif hope I get proper guidance.

edit : the "Tax No" in the pay slip is empty by the way.

For personal income tax, the submission of BE Form had closed on 30 April. You can add prior year declaration if you want to. But no declare needed if fall in the group as below.
But you reaching the taxable group very soon when salary increase.
Good news= More salary
Bad news= Paying more tax

You can check with LHDN whether you had a tax file with them. If you just started to work, high probable no tax file yet.

As refer to the Q&A as website below

Q1: What is the minimum income required to be taxable?

You have to pay tax if you earned an annual income of RM36,704 (or about RM3,058 per month) or more in 2013.

Looks like I'm fortunate enough to not need to pay. That aside, I'll check with LHDN if I have any tax file for now. Thanks for the input guys. Will comment again if I require further advice. Cheers! cheers.gif

I think most likely you don't have a tax file for now.
If your company does practice PCB deduction (i'm not sure whether it's compulsory for all companies to do that), then I believe you HR would then create the tax file for you when you are eligible for tax contribution.

No, u only can start to file tax in Mar for the previous year income.
How u can file the tax by January with EA form only available around end of Feb. U may able to keep track ur total income by pay slip each month, but LHDN follow the amount from EA form, u may get wrong in ur own record.
