Yeah, and i felt dumb for buying an accounting app from Steam.

No DRM free options too. lol.

I buy phone for normal call and whatsapp only. Plus the camera 41MP. Beat that Android and iOS.
Ecosystem seems to have grown stronger this past few years after 920 raises a lot of eyebrows  laugh.gif
Been using iPhone for 4 years and the only app I usually use is the same as what i'm using now on WP.
Whatsapp, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, FourSquare and Waze are the common apps I use.
Don't think a lot of other apps matter because I'll install and use it only a few times in my life.

Very subjective regarding this matter. Move to Phone discussion thread so I can earn post counts  whistling.gif

You'll never know what you'll need eventually which is why I rather stick to Android or iOS with a better ecosystem. At the same time, most new apps will be released on iOS or Android first before Windows phone. YNAB is just another example why Windows Phone still have a long way to go while Microsoft's flip flop mentality aint gonna convince me to get one. Android or iOS are very subjective as now, the only advantage iOS has is just the games but Windows vs iOS/Android, the later is usually much better.

And IMO, most recent phone cameras in phones like S4 or 5S are mostly sufficient for normal usage. If I like to have better quality, I'll go with a semi-pro DSLR instead because at the end of the day, phone cameras are nowhere as capable as a proper camera.

Post counts means literally nothing.

You can't bring those semi-pro DSLR in your pocket bro. If like that I bring my 5D everywhere also.
Normal usage yes but those who loves to take photos like me will go the extra mile  laugh.gif

I dont instantgram all the time which why its sufficient. Not everyone needs to know my whereabouts or what am i eating.

I rather have a separate camera than a good phone camera with poor ecosystem.

There's a non-steam option that you can download from their site directly. You can just copy over your steam serial key to the program and it'll work. I don't think there's a limit on how many copies you can activate with the same key.

Windows Phone doesnt have poor ecosystem anymore? Since when is even has a reasonable ecosystem while just because it has popular apps does not mean it has good ecosystem. I remembered that even updates are released much later on windows phones than Android or iOS. Developers are still not keen in releasing new apps on Windows Phone. At the same time, the failure of Windows RT will probably hurt Windows Phone more than helping it.

I dont know about you but I find myself constantly checking store for new apps. There bound to be something useful pops up in there. Sure there are tonnes of bloat but there are far more useful apps in both Play Store and Appstore can offer than Windows Store. I do not see any benefit of having 3 different phone platforms. You really sound like you are into collecting various electronics as it can also be seen in your game purchases.

The question is, do i need my camera everyday? No, i dont because i dont post lunch or random selfie on facebook. Phone camera are more of a convenience like taking picture of where you packed your car in a multilevel parking lot or a picture of some text in the phone for future references. Regardless of what chip you have in your phone, an entry level DLSR will blow it away for now. DSLRs are bulky but they do their job much better than any camera phones. Why should i get a camera phone with a poor ecosystem and ran by a shitty company while there are far better alternatives out there?

Guys.

What happened to you all? What's with all the inconsiderate discussion?

The sales is on its last day. It's literally breathing the last few gasps of air. Why the need to prolong the suffering?

WHY DO YOU GUYS HAVE TO MAKE ME ITCHY FOR A FREAKING NON-GAME CALLED YNAB?

Oh god, what have you guys done to my poor soul?

MUST.
RESIST!

I bought it. YEAH, I BOUGHT AN ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE FROM A GAMING STORE CALLED STEAM. sweat.gif

It felt like I just bought a skirt or bra from a men's clothing shop. doh.gif

YNAB is a pretty good software though. Easy to track my spending and income, which i just found out that I had used up 25% of my monthly games allocations so far. doh.gif

Got a kid d, need to manage your finances even better so buy YNAB. Wife also cannot complain you only buy games from Steam right? biggrin.gif

Seriously man, an accounting program on a gaming platform. Steam is telling everyone to budget ka?

I don't have use or the funds for it yet, so next time saja lah... sad.gif

Definitely, due to our uncontrollable urge to keep spending like a mad man/woman. Due to Steam, I perfectly understand how most women feel when they go shopping or the problem of having too many clothes to wear. Oh shit, Dust An Elysian Tail is still $3.75!!! Buy buy buy!!!

I just found out that 3 days into January, I had used up 25% of my monthly allocation on games. YNAB did help me in that aspect that I either need to increase my budget or prepare to makan rumput. sweat.gif

The problem with Microsoft is, they will try to do something and they will probably not stick to it, namely Silverlight, first iteration of Windows phone, Zune, Microsoft various peripherals that includes their fantastic Sidewider gaming range and XNA platform. So now, you are saying that I should dump my old shitty phone for a Windows Phone? Then, hope that it wont be killed off in a few years time due to "poor" performance? Heck even various OEMs like Acer, Dell, Asus and so on doesnt want to much with Microsoft these days or how Xbox division has not been actually making money without brilliant accounting tricks. It is because it is obviously a sinking company. At the same time, even the delay for Android to get updates from a new app update on iOS is pretty much unbearable, the delay for Windows Phone will make it even more unbearable.

No doubt Windows phone is improving but they have a very long way to go, without the advantages of both iOS and Android has. You need a constant string of good phones to convince people to switch over while 920 is a good start, I hope they can keep the momentum.

RT uses very similar core as Windows Phone and Microsoft has killed it due to its shockingly poor performance to them.

Get your facts right before you say anything, I had used Windows Phones before and compared to Palm/Symbian or iOS/Android, I wont even pick a Windows Phone over other alternatives. Microsoft's support on their phones has been terrible with their half hearted attempt.

As I had mentioned before, I never bring DSLR around with me all the time which I only bring it when i needed it. No offence, you made it as if only art students only know how to use a camera properly. I dont know where you get that a phone camera can beat an entry DLSR that is designed for photography.

Also, if Steam OS takes off, I'll switch to it in a heartbeat. Aint gonna trust Microsoft with their flip flop mentality.

Mess around with it more after the tutorial. It's actually quite simple IMO.

Fairly basic but I think simplicity is more important here for an accounting/ finance jargon like me.

That will never work to be honest if you do not have proper recording methods with some feedback.

I had gone off budget for almost every sale even using excel.

And also you can use it for more than just budgeting for games.

Very useful to keep track of your daily/monthly expenses

At the end, its better than just buying games all the time. Considering we can't use mint, I rather try YNAB then.

Excel didn't work very well for me IMO.

I do not have to agree with anyone all the time. If you do not want to buy then so be it. Why so bitter over it when people disagree with you?

QUOTE(kof91 @ Jan 3 2014, 10:28 PM)
not everyone need la, if they have good memory/control/budget can spend anything without worry..

That's true but certain software like Mint does make money management a lot easier.

YNAB, I'm not too sure since I never really hear much positive feedback from it compared to Mint.

YNAB o.O ... Really respect you guys that spend so much to the extent need a proper budgeting software. Me myself only buy the game i really want now that i will play unlike last time... Great way to keep my spending within budget
*
At least for me, It has been tough to stay in budget most of the time, especially with Steam games.

My other expenses are a lot easier to keep in check as i tend to use cash so i know how much I am spending. Online purchases are harder to keep on track.

Yeah.. I used to cover 1 eye click so many games end up not touching them yet. Had the time before but all invested in MP game like TF2.. Now turned to picky buyer. Only buy the games i really want on sale and wait for the new AAA 66% or lower
*
Thats why i am trying to use YNAB to keep things in check.

If it works, good for me. If not, tough luck and try to find another one.

Looks like Game Informer has listed out most of the games that i'll be buying this year.

Indie gaming seemed to be pretty damn promising and impressive these days. Especially when you have small teams creating games like No Man's Sky, Routine, Project CARS and so on.

When is the pre-order for Transistor up? I need to preorder this!

Upcoming bundle game lol

There are tonnes of games on that list that i'll rather buy it on day 1.

Waiting for every indie game to be on a bundle is unfair for these passionate developers who are driving the innovation of the game industry while AAA struggles to recycle last year's games. They still have families and mortgages to pay too, like everyone of us.

I didn't know that waiting for game to be bundle is ethical wrong now  doh.gif
*
If not, how would developers make money from making these awesome games? I dont think bundles make much money for developers considering the split among so many parties while a lot of them are struggling to make ends meet.

If you think a particular indie game is interesting, by all means, support their development as the benefits will go back to you eventually with a much better game developed or if not, a better future product. At the same time, some indie games like No Man's Land, Routine, Project CARS, Star Citizen are literally AAA games featuring new innovations and technology with no publisher backing.

I had enjoyed indie games immensely more than AAA games last year. This year, i'll be spending more money to support these guys to bring more interesting games to the market.

If you know how to build a PC, I really doubt Steam Machine is for you.

Heck, even a mobile gamer like me wont even think about Steam Machines. I rather take the money and get another Clevo based laptop.
