I'm very curious why I can't register as sole proprietor via SSM in Sarawak. I have to go through LDHN.

Also I can't use my home address as my business address. I'm in the computer software business and I programme for a living working from home. I don't understand this...

It's not LHDN, but the municipal council. If you staying in north kuching, go to dbku, or in miri mmc. Good luck. Do share what your business is about...

These are some of the differences between west and east malaysia in registering Sole Proprietorship/Partnership. If you have friends or relatives who owns a office, you can actually lend their office address.

Well in Sarawak the Registration of Business Act does not apply, but still we have to apply for a business license from the town/city council.

But I thought the business license is only for those with a gerai / shop e.g. a brick and mortar business?

What if I want to do business online? Totally no need any registration or license ??

How about if u register ur business at SSM in semenanjung malaysia, then u do ur business in Sarawak? Can or cannot? coz if register sole prop business in semenanjung, SSM never ask for commercial address. Just register using residential address they also accept

If susah in swak, do in penisular.

I do understand some places in swak, like cbu n sarikei, memang hard to find pejabat ssm

In Kuching, go to Income tax building and ask. Other towns, go to the district office and ask.
