Hello everyone,

I am an Italian guy who is going to permanently relocate in KL starting from Jan 2014. Nice to meet you all. rclxm9.gif

I was wondering: what's the "official" region code for the XBox360 in Malaysia (if there's an official region code at all...)?

More in detail, are NTSC-J 360s (I mean the console) easy to find in KL? What price tag should I expect? If they are cheap and relatively easy to find it would save me the stress of bringing my own from here.

Thanks a lot for your replies.

Hi,

Welcome to Malaysia. Here, Xbox 360 region is NTSC-J and if you're looking to play original, you will find every shops selling NTSC-J version as most games are in this region. The basic 4GB version should cost you around RM699-799 depending on where you look, while one with HDD should cost you around RM999-1099. Add Kinect and it should be around RM1299-1399. You can check Gamer's Hideout FB Page if you want to buy one.

Enjoy your stay here thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Great! 4GB should be more than enough as I am planning to play exclusively my Cave shoot 'em ups on it. rclxm9.gif

Btw, how are deliveries from sites like yesasia and play-asia towards Malaysia? Are the delivery times ok or not?

In Italy it's hellish, like 1-2 months wait for a simple delivery from HK. yawn.gif

If you want them quick, you can opt for FedEx delivery. Take one working day to arrive after processing. If you opy for free (or registered) shipping option, then expect the normal 30-45 days delivery.

Hey izaman, thanks for sharing your detailed experience. I have just checked with another website that I normally use (yesasia), and the express shipment fees to Malaysia are like less than half as much of what I would pay in Italy. So yeah, this sounds good! brows.gif

Getting your console locally at some reputable shop also seems like a viable option.

You may wanna consider check it out here.

Yup, in my post I meant more sourcing the actual games from yesasia or play-asia. For the console itself I'll definitely have a look somewhere in KL.

Ok...so apparently finding a proper X360 in Malaysia isn't THAT easy.

After one month of searching still could not find one...what I tried so far:

Lowyat: cheap but only jailbreak X360 vmad.gif
One Utama: no stock
Times Square: only Kinect bundles selling for 1000+ RM
The Curve: way too expensive (900+RM for a basic 4GB model...)
Sungei Wang: no stock/jailbreak only

Now, if someone could point me to a reliable shop selling a FACTORY SEALED 4GB NTSC-J X360 with NO JAILBREAK and NO KINECT whatsoever at a reasonable price I will gladly buy him a drink.

Thanks.

Retail would be better, thanks.

From what I saw going on here, I think it's definitely better to check the stuff visually before buying it...

Anyway I think this situation is crazy, I can't be SO hard to buy an original gaming system in 2014...

God bless at least Sony is officially represented...

The keyword here is piracy. Most prefer playing pirated games so there's market for the sellers here.

You are right, but I don't think that's the only reason.

In my homeland (Italy), piracy is also unfortunately huge (that was especially true in the PS2/DS/XBOX/Wii era, now it's improving a bit) but that has not prevented companies like Microsoft or Nintendo to market their products directly.

This has obviously brought to clear advantages to both the manufacturers (market penetration) as wells as the end-users (low prices, easy availability).

Btw, do you know if in Singapore the situation is the same?

Anyway, my search is on! smile.gif

TBH, locally there's no one at MS Malaysia that dare to bring Xbox business in. Perhaps Italian are more willing to take risks than Malaysian? Anyway, Singapore doesn't suffer from the same problem, as most of them support original, and do you know that in Asian, Xbox 360 games are pressed in Singapore? hmm.gif

No problem. If you're heading down to Singapore, then you can find console and games easily there smile.gif
