what is AF confirm chip? Mind to explain about it?

when you connect a manual focus lens to the camera that has no electrical connection whatsover (like a Yashica Yus Automatic 28mm f2.8), the camera doesn't know it has a lens on so it doesn't engage the focus detection mechanism. This means that there is no way to get focus confirmation from the camera - you have to use the viewfinder and judge by your eye. By putting a AF focus chip on the lens adapter, the camera engages the focus mechanism so when the AF point you're using has reached focus it beeps or flashes. Hope this helps.
