How long do you need to hike mount Seoraksan?
*
Dont think we are going to do like a "complete" hike, maybe just to walk see walk see.
Maybe doing like a full day thing, from morning to 530pm.

Come across this interesting blog about Seoraksan, maybe can refer to.

Going Korea for the first time, is it advisable to stay near Myeongdong area or Hongdae area?
From what i read, Myeongdong is more to tourist, whereas Hongdae is more youthful place.
What is the most important point to take into consideration? Near to subway?

I am looking into Airbnb rooms, there are quite a few decent one within my budget range. Just wonder which one is the best. These are for Myeongdong area only. Still looking into Hongdae area.

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1370024
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6693825
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/3309301

Can anyone help to see which has the best location and accessibility?

Appreciate your help!

if you are first timer, stay at Myeongdong area.. Hongdae if far from attractions and yes it's youthful place as many universities is located nearby. both area is very crowded but i can tell you Hongdae subway the most crowded and packed  whistling.gif

you can stay in guesthouse. for airbnb you need to choose very carefully the host. the link you listed, 1st and 2nd not really a good choice based on less review and also not super host. 3rd one is ok but it's not in Myeongdong area. It's in Namdaemun. walking distance to Myeongdong depends on which location your house is  tongue.gif

of cause stay near to subway is better. save your time and less walking. imagine after a day out, when you wanna back to your guesthouse and have to walk those hilly road with all your stuffs. very tired you know.. tongue.gif

S.K alot of places is hilly and when Korean tell you it's by walking distance it's actually quite near for them (they used to walk) but not for Msian standard hahaha

Thank you very much for your review!
I think i'm just gonna stick to hotel or Namsan Guesthouse/K Guesthouse since i wanna stay near to Myeongdong area. Any other suggestion?

I am trying to book flight ticket to Jeju, however i realize for Busan and Jeju Air, the ticket for immediate travel period is so much cheaper than booking in advance. The cheapest ticket i check so far is from Busan air (about RM250 per person), however the timing is super odd (late arrival to Jeju, early departure from Jeju).
How advance do you usually book the tickets and how cheap can it be? Can anyone share?

Thank you again!

N Seoul Tower

Day 2
Gyeongbokgung
Cheongwadae
Bukchon Hanok Village

Day 6

Day 7

Is the itinerary workable? Day 2 looks abit too packed?
Are shops still open during Christmas? Any place we must go for Christmas celebration?

We are still undecided to stay in Casa Myeongdong Guesthouse or Philstay Myeongdong. Any suggestion?

see my comment above. just my suggestion only. btw, gwangjang & dongdaemun is nearby. cheongye stream & gwanghwamun is nearby  tongue.gif

Noted, will arrange Gwanghwamun first. I took out Chungwadae since it will be too rush and i think its not in our top priority list.
We are staying in Jhill Hotel near Myeongdong shopping street.
Yeah, it seems like the scenery around Cheongyeyeon stream and Dongdaemun is fascinating at night compared to day time.

Day 1
Myeongdong
Namsan Park
N Seoul Tower
Gwangjang Market

This one you need to timing correctly. After dinner at Myeongdong then go N Seoul Tower to see night view.
Namsan Park is almost = N Seoul Tower since N Seoul Tower is actually called Namsam Tower sometimes

Day 2
Hongdae + Trick Eye Museum
Sinchon
Ewha
COEX Mall + Aquarium
Gangnam

Skip the Trick Eye Museum, it's a tourist trap.
Can skip COEX Mall unless you wanna do shopping. However, if want shopping, Gangnam and Shinsa-dong 신사 are better places IMO.
It depends on your "style" also. Abercrombie and Fitch has a shop at Shinsa and other foreign brands also at Shinsa area.
Here you also might want to reconsider the timings. Morning at Gangnam area, then Evening/Night at Sinchon, Ewha  then Hongdae.
Day 3
Gyeongbokgung
Gwanghwamun
Cheongwadae
Bukchon Hanok Village
Insadong

This is definitely too packed. Unless you plan 1 hour on each places.

Day 4
Lotte Mart
Namdaemun
Itaewon
Noryangjin Fish Market

Better merge Namdaemun with Myeongdong since both are quite close and go to the Cheonggyecheon stream/river too.
Itaewon better for at night.
Noryangjin better during Winter ( not sure when you are coming though )

Day 5
Namisan Island
Petite France
Dongdaemun
Cheonggyecheon Stream

Dongdaemun, Namdaemun, Cheonggyecheon, Myeongdong are same area.
While namisan, Petite france is outside of Seoul.
Better whole day for Nami Islan and Petite France, then if you still have time at that day, then only go some other places.
Day 6
Back to KL
For shopping,
3 main types of brands:
Not very cheap, sometimes cheap but Korea/Taobao clothes: Dongdaemun / Hongdae
Cheap branded ( Zara, H&M, Who A U, Uniqlo, etc) - Myeongdong, Hongdae
Higher-end brands - Gangnam / Hyundai Department Store / Coex mall

Hongdae is mix of everything. So, I would suggest spending more time at Hongdae.
They have cheap Korean local/taobao clothes, to branded like Bershka, Zara, etc, and also a MCM store in Hongdae
Many restaurants there too.

Thanks for the concise comments and suggestions!
We are visiting Seoul end of October for the autumn foliage.
We will be staying near Myeongdong area.

This is my rearranged itinerary:

Day 1
Namdaemun
Myeongdong
Namsan Park
N Seoul Tower

Day 2
COEX Mall + Aquarium (optional)
Gangnam
Shinsa-dong
Sinchon
Ewha
Hongdae

Day 3
Gyeongbokgung
Gwanghwamun
Tosokchun for lunch
Bukchon Hanok Village
Insadong

Day 4
Noryangjin Fish Market
Itaewon
Dongdaemun
Gwangjang Market
Cheonggyecheon Stream

Day 5
Namisan Island
Petite France
Lotte Mart near Seoul station

Day 6
Back to KL

I arranged Dongdaemun on another day because we wanted to visit that place during night time. Day 4 route seems a little bit out of place. Any suggestion?
