wanna ask, when shopping in dongdaemun, how much to ask for bargain? is 30% too much or too little?

haha..well, i'm going korea with a korean friend. so basically not much preparation need to be done from my end. but i think this shall give me even more time to do my passport right? lol...

btw, anyone at seoul now? how's the weather?
*
Mollai, so far it's been a bitter winter with afternoons at -2 degrees and nites at -9 degrees. It's oh so cold and dry. But I've noted that if you have a good winter (bulky) jacket, nothing much gets thru. Still stay warm. But if you wanna be cool like koreans with fashion...then probably suffer a bit wink.gif wink.gif

it depends what you buy or who you deal with. nowadays you can't bargain much plus some won't bargain and will tell you it's "made in korea" and will shoo you away whistling.gif
*
i got "conned" out of a lot of money during my 1st trip to dongdaemun. then later only realise can bargain ah..

anyway, so far no snow. I was fortunate enough to walk home one day and saw specks of snow coming down. I think for few hours only. That's it! a week here and no snow on the ground. boohoo

ok then, later when i come korea will contact u ok? hahahaha...btw, since u stay there, is it worth it to stay on yongpyong resort for 3 days 2 night, just want to experience ski there at night. after 3 days there, will start stay in gangnam around 4 to 5 days just to clubbing and enjoy there..  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif
*
I think 1 night is good enough for yongpyong. have u skied before? if ure no pro skiing is very tiring. there's nothing much to do in Yong pyong. and it is super cold too. but fun try nonetheless.

if going alone in backpacking style, can survive without speaking a word of Korean?? hmm.gif
*
I did that. totally ok. just don't expect special treatment and friendly smiles like in Malaysia. ull probably come back thinking Koreans r super unfriendly because they r ignoring u or yelling at u or avoiding u most of the time and ajumma elbowing u often. but don't take that to heart. they r just afraid of u coz they can't speak English. if u could understand even a wee bit of Korean they r super nice ppl. happy travels!

thanks for the advice.

I might visit Korea in December. Don't think I'll be able to learn much korean before I leave. I only know anneonghaseyo and kamsamida.

day 1 ok.

day 2 so rush. I would gladly spend the whole day around hongdae and sinchon. lots of shopping good food good cafes with great coffees and street performances summore wanna go down to gangnam AR. nothing there. that one give plus journey 2 hours but really. only office building sorta

day3 doable for me. gwanghwamun n gyeonngbokgung so nearby. but I would walk to cheonggyecheon from gwanghwamun. tell u what. u do bukchon early morning. dabble back to insadong. have lunch there. then go gyeongbokgung, cross over to gwanghwamun and walk over to cheonggyecheon. then u take bus to gwangjang market. u head down there for live octopus and lots of foods for dinner. perfect day 3 smile.gif

day 4 can do dongdaemun and go to the river. order fried chicken la. they can send anywhere. got rainbow music water from the bridge. and can catch a show? miso is quite nice. so is the cooking one. cant remember the name. but if u go the cooking one put together with myeongdong trip.

the rest all ok

P/S: since u travel to namisan oredi, wanna stop at yongsan to do jimjilbang? Dragon spa is the name. after that u walk around that area. got some really nice spots, pubs, food eatery. serve nice food.

happy holidays!
