Thanks for the reply. smile.gif

Already call him and change it to normal 13A plug(RM70). So, i can just use hood switch to on off it la.. cut cost.. hehe
*
the problem is whether your 13A socket is inside the cover or outside
if outside (like mine) then its not a problem for you to use the switch on the hood itself but if its inside the cover, then during emergency (which I dunno what lah har), how are you going to kill the power?

See above pic

actually it is suppose to be on the inside. Outside like mine will look ugly and you will have to cut a lobang on the cover like mine....
With mine i have no choice as I wasnt doing any hacking

if you got to do it, just pasang a 20a switch at the bottom to control it. dont be stingy sweat.gif

which ever route you choose, make sure at what height you want to pasang the hood. then measure accurately where the sockets is suppose to go. If the socket its on the inside, make sure it can clear the hoods motor. It needs to be higher than the black box

i think he meant the switch on the hood itself  biggrin.gif
btw i got three switch -
the 13A socket got one switch up on top near the hood which cannot be reach unless you stand on a ladder or chair
i also got another 20amp double pole switch near the countertop
and then the switch on the hood itself

i didnt make it that way but since it is there, i use only lah rclxms.gif
i know the double pole 20a is overkill in this situation

Remember the "problem" I had with the plug socket been outside the hood cover? Ok lah in the end cannot see too much. Had to cut a small lobang to pass the cable thru

The switch too crowded around the cooking place. And those switch behind the hob, later will be full of sticky oil and dirt from the cooking. You got to clean it up frequently. Got to becarefull.

If the hood switch is convenient to ON/OFF, it should be sufficient. You only need a socket for the plug hide away. That 1 always ON is ok since the hood already have switch.

My hood don't have the switch. When I want to use, I slight it out and it ON. Finish, slight it back and it OFF. The hood is built in cabinet type. Socket and plug always ON and hide into the cabinet.

Ya I know. It wasn't my planning. The switches and sockets already in place and I didn't want to hack anything so I have to be more diligent to clean after each meal blush.gif

Well, the one you are using is kinda basic, any hood in my shop will b able to do a better job than that smile.gif

If you need more tips or advise, get the measurements of your cabinets. height of ceiling and etc. I could suggest something to solve your problems. Ask to speak to zean since i already seen your cabinet photo and remind me about the issues

Dear Zheilwane

Sorry for late reply. I've done the measurement as follows:

1) height from feiling to basin is 193cm,=76inch ;
2) width for gas stove (already bought a movable ones but not show in picture) is 92.5cm=36inch ;
3) deep is 59cm,=23inch,
4) tall from marble table to basin is 21cm=8inch

Hope to receiving your further comments and advises. Thanks

ive been scouring the net and the forums for hoods. and on some sector i read that Rubine hoods are troublesome in both their performance, service and parts?

so any truth to this?

and Rinnai hoods come highly recommended and not to mentioned the price sweat.gif sweat.gif

It is possible to install a ducted hood with your measurements. If you are planning to change the tiles, you can remove the old exhaust fan. For hob, if you do not wan to change the table top, just cover it and make it to be the same height as your kitchen sink. by standard, the height of the sink should be 840mm or 33".

hi
1) I didn't plan to change my tiles so the exhaust fan can just remain there
2) I prefer to change the table top but the problem is can I get the same door replacement as the existing door?
Hardware shop got selling this kind of kitchen door?
3) The cover box is a good idea but plaster ceiling I think is not necessary.

Could you please send me a quotation for all these including the instalation of a ducted hood ? Thanks

The door, actually you can get from kitchen cabinet companies, you can PM some of the sellers here in lowyat, check them out in the kitchen cabinet thread.

For pricing, you will need to drop by my showroom to select the models according to your preference. DO drop by quick as Rubine and Fotile price will increase next month

Yup, sharing the links to the blogs would help other members to make better decision. Rubine do sell Mesh type hood and also hood with oil cups, i only sell those with oil cups as i do think they are better. Probably those having bad experience bought the mesh type. Sharing the links would give members a better idea and info before the decide getting it.
