Thanks so much for your helpful posts - learned a lot in the thread!

I'm renovating my condo unit atm, looking for an induction hob + hood. Budget ideally around 3k but up to 4k if the upgrade is seriously worth it. Do you think you could recommend something for me? Thanks!

if recycle + if you wan to cover the top part with cabinet to maximize storage then i will suggest Fujioh FS2290 + IC7020 hob if wan save budget a bit then Fujioh fs2290 mix with Livinox LEH4118

if no cabinet above hood + recycle model + budget 3k, Livinox Copperdc-GM + Livinox Leh4118, within budget

The kitchen trend now is COMBI OVEN, many customers love it as you can save lots of space. Steam, Bake, Roast, Stew, Air Fry, Dehydrate and many more all done using just one machine, the combi oven.
However, there are many brands in the market and not all have the COMPLETE function that you need or less flexible. Example, some combi oven have Steam + Bake as one function but DE&E you can use Air Fry + Steam (low or high humidity) or any other baking or roasting function PLUS Steam (Humidity), so you are not limited to just one function. If you are looking for combi oven and not sure what your combi oven should have, you can compare with this DE&E features

Hi hi. I have a dilemma and hoping to ask for some opinions.

I'm renovating my kitchen now and I have originally settled on the Fujioh 9220 recycle hood. I didn't realize the hood is much deeper (55cm) and as i'm tall (178cm), our designer told me that the hood has to be very high otherwise i'll knock my head on it when cooking.

This is an example of how my top cabinets will look like if I go with this model, it has this "hole" below the hood. https://images.myappliances.co.uk/articles/...jpg?auto=format

If i want this hood, this means the height from the worktop to the hood will need to be even higher - at the max height of 850mm as per the Fujioh installation guide.

Note: Our kitchen is open, and not near the window and i chose this model because I read the suction is good. My in-laws are using the Fujioh 1990 and I felt it's ok~.

My dilemma is
1. i'm wondering if this 'hole' will damage the sides of my cabinets quicker overtime since the fumes travels over those surfaces often
2. If i need to replace this hood in the future and there's no more 9220, i will have to revert to the standard slim model (it's shorter in height also), and it will be too high for this cabinet layout.

Appreciate any thoughts and if i need to use the standard slim hood (recycle), what is a good replacement.

Thank you!

I need some expert advice to shed some light on confusion I have on the different type of hood, mainly Chimney and non. I am looking at Fujioh website to compare and realise that some slim model has both Recycling and Ventilation feature. Example are FR-FS2290 RP/VP and FR-MS2390 R/V while other Chimney Hood doesn't have Recycling, only Ventilation. My question is, does that mean those model with RP/VP allow ducting in future. Lets say I start without ducting for FR-MS2390 with recycling only then few months later I can change to ducting / ventilation by opening the core hole and other necessary work to enable it. Can this be done at later stage if I find the slim hood not effective without changing the whole hood?

cannot Fujioh R and V are two totally different design, you cannot convert them. If u buy regular chimney hood then yes u can convert as they are originally DUCTED but add in carbon filter to be used as recycle but Fujioh if R means specially designed to be used as Recycle and not convert

If you need recycle and wan to install a cabinet above the hood to maximize storage, you must get FUJIOH are instead of other brands chimney hood and convert

1) I think is FS2990 and not 9220
2) Rather checking measurements online, go actual shop like mine to stand in front of the hood and get a feel. Not all shops use actual cabinet heights but my shop yes
3) Can install 850mm doesnt mean it is good at 850mm, for optimum performance i recommend 650 - 700 from wokstand height
4) u come my shop 20-30 minutes settle ur dilemma d thumbup.gif

If you need technical advise but may b need to wait, look for Zen, if no nd too technical and wan fast deal can look for Adam in shop

Hi zheilwane,

Good day to you, learned a lot from you on this thread, my hood and hob of 10 years old has decided to retired recently, so we are looking for Hood and Hob to replace. There will be heavy cooking sometimes, like deep fried, stir fried etc for the kitchen, may I get your recommendation for budget of about RM3k, good reliable suction and preferably 3 or 4 burner that are strong and reliable too?

Here are the measurements of the actual hole that has been opened, and also an actual image of the Hood and Hob with measurements.

Do you provide installation as well for our case of dismantling and installing hood and hob?

Thank you very much in advance. thumbup.gif thumbsup.gif

Folks, I am planning to buy a kitchen hob (stove) but my current kitchen top is made of concrete. How hard is it to drill a hole so that the hob can sit nicely on it?

Fujioh hood got made in japan and china, basically those made in japan are easier to clean and dismantle for deep cleaning. the Brand confirm is reputable for durability and easy maintenance but just need to buy the right model. For ducted SC2090 for recycle FS2290, perfect.

Guys just wanted to commend @zheilwane on excellent customer service and patience.

Went to Builders Hardware last week to buy oven, hob, hood, sink, tap and rain shower - Zhen took the time to show me all the options, answer all my questions and wasn't pushy at all. Managed to get all my stuff sorted super easily.

Thanks so much again! Highly recommend visiting his shop in Kepong.

DE&E will be launching a new hood soon, we are lucky as they gave us one sample to test and display in show for PRE-ORDER SALE. They boast strong suction and able to push smoke out over 30ft length ducting (hose provided in box only 7ft)

So, you know la i like testing, i bought extra hose and join til 35ft and test, here is the result. SUPER AMAZING

dear shifus,

coming from someone who been living in old landed all these while and have never use hood before, may i know if by installing the hood it can really absorb the oil and surface of kitchen cabinets and floors won't be oily?

as i m getting my own condo and wondering if wet kitchen is really necessary or i can make do with open kitchen and have a glass partition perhaps.

will deep fry fish once a while smile.gif and cooking 2 meals a day lol..consider heaving cooking then

thanks for your advices!

Anyone used the toilet PVC pipe for cooker hood exhaust instead of the flex hose?

I wonder if there's any cons if using PVC pipe, should be able to withstand the heat I guess
