Hardware extended monitor, need a good advice

I got two monitor,19 inch and 42 inch... one oldpentium 4 desktop with dvi port only. Then i use vga splitter to connect both monitor but cannot get extended monitor to work.. currently use window xp.. any external hardware that can allow extend monitor to be use.. ?

your vga splitter is only wire or the box type.

I've saw before a type of splitter which can be used to extend the monitor.
Im not really sure what is it called.

Try google a bit n see

its called spliter but can support extend mode.

I think you should go to some computer shop and ask them more on it.

That will not work, because the video signals originates from a single source (that single DVI port). doh.gif To use extended desktop, then have the video signals have to originate from two different sources. In other words, the second monitor must be connected to a different output. Nowadays most discrete graphic cards have dual output feature. You could try installing a graphic card to get that extended desktop... hmm.gif

A simple and cheap graphic card (with dual outputs) would be the simplest (easy to buy/get and install) as well as the cheapest solution. Another solutions are USB-based graphic cards to be used as secondary display adapter (which are limited in availability, need to search for it)... tongue.gif
